A/N: i went with pre-first class because i just had this cute, playful idea. oh and i know that gif isn’t james playing charles, but just look at him! so cute!
“May I have this dance?” you ask, over-dramatically offering your hand to Charles where he sits on the sofa.
He peers over his book to look at you. A small grin tugs at his lips, and he shakes his head.
“I have to study,” he answers, simply.
“You always have to study,” you say, whining. You place your hands on your hips and jut out your bottom lip in a pout. “Come on, just one dance?”
He laughs this time, shutting his book and placing it on the sofa beside him. He still doesn’t stand though, just looking you up and down. “There’s no music,” he states.
You scoff as if that’s the most absurd thing you’ve heard all day. “You don’t hear that?” you ask.
He shakes his head, still just smiling at you. You can’t help but smile back at him as you take both of his hands in yours and tug him to his feet. You begin to hum a song, and he laughs again.
“Oh, I hear it now,” he says, placing his hands gently on your waist.
You just smile in response, wrapping your arms around his neck. You continue to hum, and Charles begins to sway the both of you in a circle. You both laugh as he takes your hand and spins you out of his arms and back. Eventually, you stop humming, but you both still sway in the middle of the room.
“This is nice,” he says, moving his head to kiss the side of yours where it rests on his shoulders.
“And you wanted to study,” you say teasingly, chuckling along with him.
