“(Name)?”
You recognized that voice as if it was your own. And as you turned around to face the speaker, you could hear the heart-beating inside of your ears.
“Alex?” You gasped, looking at the blond in front of you with wide eyes, “hey! It’s been awhile!” A while, being only a few years before you moved away. You had gone to Freshman year of High School together, and were decent enough friends, after being introduced by mutuals. There were times you’d spend with him in utter silence as you studied, or in complete chaos as you scrambled to finish up a project you undoubtedly procrastinated, along with everything in-between.
“Yeah it has,” Alex smiled at you, and it was obvious that he didn’t know what to do with his body. One side of him wanted to hug you, to tell you that he missed you because in all honesty; he missed you. Then, the other, more rational part of him knew better, so he merely opted to stand there, his eyes gazing at you from head to toe. You had grown up, or at least, so he thought. “Did you move back?” The question arose, for you did visit a few times since moving away, but not recently enough for him to remember clearly.
“Visiting my dad for the summer,” You explained. Alex nodded, rubbing the back of his head, “Wow.” You chuckled nervously, touching his arm softly. You felt it twitch under your hand, the muscle “The Alex Summers I used to know was only a scrawny little kid! Look at you now.” Swallowing slowly, you did just that. You looked at him. He wasn’t that scrawny little boy you had remembrances of. He was grown, about 6 foot would be your guess. He finally grew into his ears, finally grew into the smirk and smile that would silently tell you he was up to no good.
“Look at me?” He chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck, “C’mon, look at you! You look great…” And you did, there was no doubt in his mind. “I know it’s kind of crazy, but, do you wanna go catch a bite to eat?” Alex asked suddenly, “Catch up a bit? It’s been too long.” He felt something heavy inside of his heart as he caught eyes with you. Something’s never change, he thought to himself, and he began wondering then if he was always going to feel like this with you.
He just wished he had the chance to tell you before you moved away.
“That sounds great!” Smiling widely, you let go of Alex’s arm slowly, almost unsure. It was crazy to know how much he had grown, you thought to yourself, looking into his blue eyes, but something’s never change.
