Prompt:
Hi, I was wondering if you did soulmate AUs? Where everyone had two times on
their wrists, one time for when they meet their soulmate, and one for when they
will die. The reader’s times are around 2-3 minutes apart, meaning the day they
meet their soulmate is the day they die (oh the angst), I wasn’t sure on which
character but since you write him so well, could you do Kurt x Reader?
Note:
Awwwww babbyyyy noooooo
Warnings:
Angst, but there be a happy ending.
Cursed. You knew you were cursed. Ever since
you learned what the ticking numbers on your wrist meant, you knew you had to
be cursed. Three minutes. You had three minutes with your soulmate before you
would die.
It was torture. It was sad. You hoped maybe
there was a loophole, maybe something was wrong, maybe your timers were off,
but hoping could only get you so far.
When you finally did the math, you realized
you would only be a high school student. You wouldn’t even make it to college.
It was a lot to swallow. All of your hopes and dreams suddenly didn’t seem
important anymore. You didn’t want to do anything, because in only a few years,
all of it would mean nothing.
It only made sense when you found your
mutation. Of course you would die young. You were a mutant. You would probably
be killed in an accident or a hate crime. You would die, and time was running
out.
***
It was the day. You were down to mere minutes.
It was terrifying. You took deep breaths, rocking back and forth in your room
as it grew nearer and nearer, your soulmate and your ultimate demise.
You had already said goodbye to everyone that
mattered, shedding tears, but not telling them why. They all knew. Your parents
had known from the day you were born, and had cursed the heavens for it. Fate
had indeed been unkind to you, and soon you would suffer for it.
You were alone, the only one home. You told
them you wanted to be alone. You wanted it to happen while they were away, so
they went out of town, telling you they loved you over and over and over again.
You sobbed as the explosion hit, throwing you
across the room. So this is how it would happen. You looked up, watching as a
team moved in, mutants, obviously, all dressed in uniform, fighting an unknown
enemy as it rampaged nearby.

“Oh! Mein Gott!” shouted a stranger. He was
blue with pointy ears, amber eyes, and a tail. There were markings all over his
face. Your soulmate timer dinged in time with his. His amber eyes met yours and
he immediately bent down and pulled you out of the wreckage. You were bleeding
from several spots.
“It’s you,” you whispered weakly. A sad smile
pulled at his lips as he held you in his arms.
“It’s so nice to finally meet you, mein liebe,”
he replied quietly. The fight outside seemed to subside as the others took care
of the problem. “I’m Kurt. Kurt Vagner,”
“(Y/N) (L/N),” you introduced, tears of joy
and of sorrow forming in your eyes.
“Oh don’t cry,” he held you close. “D-do I
scare you?”
“No,” you laughed, shaking your head. “No,
you don’t. It’s just…I’m dying, Kurt.”
“Vhat?”
“I…I only have two and a half minutes left,”
you showed him your timer. You coughed, blood pooling in your mouth.
“No, zhat can’t be…” he stared at you in
disbelief, wide-eyed. This was all wrong. This wasn’t how it was supposed to
be. He couldn’t lose you. Not after he had just found you. Kurt lifted you into
his arms and stood up. “I von’t lose you. Not now. Not ever,” he kissed your
forehead.
“I’m so sorry,” you cried, your voice hoarse,
barely even audible.
*Bamf*
“Raven, ve need to get back to zhe mansion
now!” Kurt yelled, popping back into the jet with your limp, bloody figure in
his arms.
“Woah, Kurt, who’s that?” Scott asked,
looking at you.
“My soulmate,” Kurt answered.
“Is everybody in?” Hank asked, sitting in the
cockpit.
“I think we’re good.” Peter replied looking
around. You hazily checked your wrist. One minute left.
“Let’s get this show on the road.” Raven
ordered as Hank took off. Kurt sat down, cradling you gently. His tail moved
hair out of your face and you stared up at him as the world went black.
“I love you, Kurt Wagner,” you whispered,
tears streaming down the side of your face. Big wet tears rolled down his blue
cheeks. He pressed a kiss to your forehead.
“Ich liebe dich, (Y/N) (L/N),”
Slowly, everything faded, and you went numb.
***
It was quiet. Eerily quiet. You felt like you
were underwater, drifting, lost in the darkness. Faintly, you could pick out
the sound of a heart monitor. Then there were voices.
“You can’t stay in here all day, Kurt. She
needs rest.” said a new voice. It still sounded far off, but closer.
“But vhat if she-”
“She’s been out for three days. Just let her
sleep. She needs it.” continued the other voice.
“B-but-”
“Kurt,”
you whispered, slowly gaining control of your body. You wiggled your fingers
and found that there was something around them. A hand. A three-fingered blue
hand. Kurt.
“(Y/N)?” he perked up, standing beside the
hospital bed. You were in an infirmary of some sort. It was kind of futuristic.
Underground. There were no windows, and the lighting was off.
“What happened?” you asked, rubbing your eyes
with your free hand.
“You…” Kurt went quiet.
“You died,” said the woman in the doorway.
She was blue too. Maybe all of them were blue. “We brought you back here and
somehow they brought you back.”
“He hasn’t left your side,” said another
person. A man in a wheelchair. “I’m Professor Charles Xavier. I’m a teacher here
at the mansion. We couldn’t help but notice that you’re a mutant.”
“I am.” You stated. “Electrokinesis.”
“Very well.” Charles nodded. “You’re welcome
to stay here at the school if you’d like. Kurt is a student here.”
“I’d like that, yeah.” You agreed. “But right
now, I need a glass of water.”
*Bamf*
Kurt disappeared and returned seconds later
with a glass of ice water from the kitchen. He handed it to you, grabbing your
free hand. You sipped the water graciously, emptying half of it before setting
it on the table beside you.
“We’ll be upstairs,” Raven said, opening the
door. “Come up whenever you feel ready.”
“I vas so worried,” Kurt told you. You could
see the concern in his eyes. He treated you as if you were made of glass. “I
zhought…I didn’t know if I’d ever see you again, mein liebe.”
“I grew up my whole life knowing that would
happen. I knew I only had three minutes to be with you. I thought I was cursed…”
You told him, tears slipping from your eyes. He cupped your face with his large
hands, using his thumbs to wipe away the fresh tears. “I…I’m so glad I get
another chance.”
“I love you,” Kurt whispered, the words so
unfamiliar on his tongue. He was so accustomed to German, but he wanted to tell
you in a way you would understand.
“I took German in school, Kurt,” you told
him, noticing immediately that he was speaking in English. “If you’re more
comfortable, you can say it in your own language.”
“How much German do you know?” He asked
excitedly.
“Just a little.” You shrugged, but looked up
at him, smiling. “Ich liebe dich auch.”
He hugged you close, kissing the crown of
your head before another idea popped into his head. He swallowed nervously,
looking down at your lips. You leaned up and kissed him gently. He kissed back,
uncertain of what he was doing. And so you sat there, teaching your soulmate to
kiss. For once, you weren’t running out of time. In fact, you had all the time
in the world.
