Prompt:
I am taking yet another break from the inbox prompts and whipping up a little Fourth
of July special. It won’t be uploaded until tomorrow (July 5th) but
I wrote it on July 4th, so that has to count for something.
Note:
Because I’m trash, this is written as X-Men Evolution Kurt. For those of you
who don’t know, this Kurt is covered in fur and wears in image-inducer that
holograms him to look human. Also, if you haven’t seen the show, you can
binge-watch it for freeeee on You Tube. It’s great.
Warnings:
None?
“I can’t wait for zhe firevorks tonight!”
Kurt said to Scott. “Zhe fair is going to be amazing!”
“Dude, did you ask (Y/N) yet?”
“To vhat? Go as my date?”
“Well yeah, Kurt.” Scott laughed.
“You zhink the fuzzy man can get zhe girl?”
“Oh yeah. She’s sitting over there with Jean.
I’ll go with you. We can ask them on a double date.”
“All right,” Kurt nodded. He put a hand on
Scott’s shoulder and teleported over to the other side of the courtyard.
“Jeez! You scared me!” you put a hand over
your heart, laughing and smiling at the sight of your favorite teleporter. Oh,
and Scott.
“Hey boys,” Jean waved. “What’s up.”
“So uh, Kurt and I were talking and…Do you
maybe wanna go on a double date tonight? The fair?”
“Sure!” you answered too quickly. Kurt
smiled. “I mean, I have no plans. Or a date, for that matter.”
“Jean?” Scott asked. She nodded.
“Yeah, sounds like a plan. Meet us in the
front room at 6.” Jean said. She walked back inside with you.
“Yes!” Kurt pumped his fists in the air.
“Dude, she so digs you.”
“An elf can hope,”
***
You and Jean walked down the stairs at six.
You were wearing a blue tank top with white stars, and red and white striped
shorts. Kurt, who was just wearing an American flag shirt, grinned at the sight
of you.
“Feeling festive?” he asked.
“I’m ready to party!” You smiled, raising
your arms and spinning around. Kurt pressed the button on his image inducer. A
ripple spread through his skin, changing it from blue to pale.
“So am I,”
“I’m driving,” Scott said, flashing a pair of
keys. The four of you walked out the door. When you got to the car, Kurt opened
the door to the back and motioned for you to get inside. You nodded and slid
across the back seat. He got in after you.
“You guys ready?” Scott asked, turning up the
music. You all cheered as he drove off.
***
The fair was full of people. Full. The sun
was starting to go down, and as it got darker and darker, more of the rides
turned their lights on.
“What’s first?”
“Let’s go to the fun house,” Jean suggested.
The rest of you agreed and followed her inside. You took Kurt’s hand, leading
him through the maze behind you. Kurt looked at Scott, who was behind the pair
of you, and pointed to your joint hands, grinning. Scott gave him a thumbs up.
You led him through the maze of mirrors and
got to the distorting mirrors at the end.
“Look! I’m a giraffe!” Kurt said, standing in
front of a mirror that made him look ten feet tall. You laughed and tried out
some of the other mirrors.
After the fun house, the four of you went to
the bumper cars.
“Are we teaming up?” Jean asked. You nodded.
“You and me against the guys,” you told her.
“You’re going down,” Scott smirked.
“Wanna bet?” Jean challenged.
“I do. If we win, you have to kiss us on the
ferris wheel during the fireworks.” Scott said.
“Fine,” You replied, deciding to play along. “And
if we win, which we will, you have to
hold our hands all night and buy us
cotton candy.”
“Zhat’s only fair,” Kurt shrugged, grinning.
If he was being honest, he had wanted to do both anyways. You hopped into the
bumper cars and raced around.
“I’m coming for you, Kurt!” you turned the
wheel, chasing after him.
“No! No!” he tried to get away, but you
bumped into him. It was a very competitive game, but you and Jean came out on
top, high-fiving as you got out of your cars.
“All right boys, pay up,” Jean held out her
hand, which Scott gladly took.
“A deal’s a deal. Let’s go get some cotton
candy.” Scott shrugged. Kurt grabbed your hand with a three-fingered fuzzy one.
The image inducer only changed how he looked, not how he felt. Not that you
minded. The hairy thing was starting to grow on you.
“Gee, vhat a shame zhat ve have to hold hands all night.” Kurt teased, laughing.
“God, you must be suffering.” you laughed in
reply. “I feel so bad.”
Scott ordered the cotton candies and handed
one to you and one to Kurt. You started to eat the sweet, sticky treat.
“It’s like eating a cloud,” Kurt laughed, his
lips coated in pink fluff. You laughed.
“Good, right?”
“Yeah, big time.” he smiled. It didn’t take
any of you long to finish and then it was off to the next thing, a photo booth.
When Scott and Jean were done, you dragged Kurt in with you. Figuring no one
would see besides you, Kurt closed the curtain and turned off his image
inducer, turning blue.
“There’s my favorite blue guy,” you smiled,
poking his nose. He smiled. You put a quarter in the machine and he put an arm
around you. Four pictures snapped of you two in various poses, the last being you
kissing him on the cheek and him grinning like a madman.
Two copies of the photos printed. You handed
one to him and slipped the other into your purse. There was a mark from your
lipstick on his cheek.
“Sorry. Here, let me get that,” you reached
up to wipe it away, but he grabbed your wrist.
“Leave it,” he smiled. “Kitty and Evan will
never believe me if I don’t come home with proof.”
“Silly goose,” you shook your head, pressing
another kiss to his other cheek. “There. Now you’re evened out.”
He switched his image-inducer on, covering up
the kiss marks and his blue furry skin.
Hours later, after you had ridden countless
rides, the fireworks started. You grabbed Kurt’s hand and dashed to the Ferris
wheel. Scott and Jean followed, and each pair of you got into separate cars.
You sat beside Kurt, wrapping your arm around
him as he draped his over your shoulder. The wheel started to move, and after a
few minutes of sitting in silence, watching the fireworks, the car got stuck
near the top.
“Well, I know we creamed you at bumper cars,
but…if you still want that kiss…” you trailed off. He pressed the button on his
image inducer, turning blue. He held your cheeks and pulled you into the
gentlest kiss you had ever felt. His lips were smooth and soft, and still sweet
with the taste of cotton candy.
“Tonight vas fun,” Kurt smiled, resting his
head on yours as you watched the fireworks over the river.
“It really was.” you pulled your lipstick out
of your bag and put on a fresh coat, raising an eyebrow. “Want more ‘proof’?”
“You bet,” he smirked. You peppered kisses
all over his face, leaving red marks everywhere.
***
“Night Kurt~” You called as you walked up the
stairs. Kurt stumbled through the front door of the mansion, still fazed from
all of the kisses. Kitty looked up.
“Woah, what happened to you?” she asked, laughing. Kurt smiled dreamily, watching you as you
went.
