“where’d you learn how to do all this stuff?” doc says as you use the science equipment “i had a good teacher in high school i guess” you say as you shrug and put down the vile and pick up the needle “are you sure experimenting on yourself is the best idea?” warren says “well none of you want to be test dummies, now do you?” you say sarcastically warren gives you a nod “i’ve been working on this since the beginning and i feel like i’m really close” you say sticking yourself “i’m just glad we found you when we did” addy says “yeah so am i” you say as you nod at her you start to think back on that night you were surrounded by z’s and you were alone you were so close to getting bit when the one in front of you dropped and you saw a girl with red hair standing in front of you and she reached out her and pulled you up and that’s when you met the group and told them what you were doing and they told you about murphy and they’re friend 10k who was either dead or alive they didn’t know and honestly you just assumed he was dead
you’re snapped back into reality by doc “kid are you okay?” he says shaking you a bit “y-yeah” you say sitting down on the old lab chair that has dust on it
“woah woah hey what’s wrong?” addy says sitting next to you “just a little dizzy i’m fine i promise” you say after a few minutes you start to feel better “ok look i’ll stay here and you all go on your run and get supplies” you say “are you sure?” hector says and you’re surprised because usually he doesn’t say much “yes go sun mei is still waiting for you all” you say looking at them they all leave and you continue walking around the old worn down classroom when you see the door swing open and you duck down behind one of the desks.
“listen kid i know you aren’t thrilled about this but i saved you” a man says with a sarcastic tone
“you didn’t save me” another man says but his voice is softer it almost sounds familiar
“10k someone else is in here, find them” the man with the deep voice says. you start to panic and then you think, 10k? isn’t that your groups friend?
you begin to shake as you see a pair of black worn out boots in front of you your eyes wander up and see your old friend tommy in front of you the one you were sure was dead he pulls you up and then looks at you and his jaw drops “y/n?” he says “y-you’re alive” he says wrapping his arms around you “10k who’s your friend?” the man behind him says and you notice the color of his skin it’s blue with a tint of silver “t-tommy what’s going on?” you say not noticing your voice is starting to shake a bit “tommy?” the blue man says “that’s just rich isn’t it? you actually have a name” he adds “enough murphy” 10k says in a serious tone with his arms still around you “no no i tell you when it’s enough” murphy says “give me her” he adds with a smirk on his face
“no!” 10k yells but he grabs you by the shoulders and pushes you towards murphy you look back at him surprised
“see doll here’s the deal he does what i say” murphy says swinging his arm around you “don’t touch her” 10k says clenching his fist “down boy” murphy says putting his hand out
“what did you do to tommy?” you say trying to hold back tears
“it’s cute that you call him tommy” murphy says “see let me catch you up to speed, here i am the worlds only chance at coming back from this apocalyptic mess i’m the cure, so i bit your tommy over there so now he does what i say” he adds
your jaw drops “now let’s have some fun!” he says clapping his hands together and pushing you towards 10k and he catches you he looks at you with a sorry look on his face “now 10k” murphy says approaching you “turn her around” he adds as 10k turns you so your face is facing his, murphy moves your hair from your neck and you feel 10k tense up “murphy no” he yells trying to move you so he can’t get you “tommy, why don’t you stop it and just make this easier on her and you? now hold her still” murphy says “i’m so sorry y/n” 10k says as murphy bites you.
10k puts his hand on the back of your neck as an almost effort to get the bleeding to stop
“i-it’s fine” you mutter as he squeezes your hand
“this is all my fault i’m sorry, this isn’t how i wanted to be reuniting with you” he says trying to force a laugh but the sadness in his voice is evident
“h-hey it’s fine i promise” you say putting your hand on his cheek he puts his hand on yours “how cute” murphy says sarcastically and puts his hand to his heart “10k stay here y/n come with me” he adds,
you don’t move
“i said come with me”
“no” you say with no trouble at all getting in his face
murphy has a puzzled look on his face and you can see him starting to get confused and tense. 10k looks at you and tilts his head to side
“this isn’t right” murphy says
“it worked” you say to yourself “what worked?” murphy demands
“my vaccine” you say running to the table grabbing all your equipment
he tries to take it from you and 10k grabs him and knocks him out
“tommy come here” you say
“you trust me right?” you add
“of course always” he says coming towards you
you take the needle out and stick it to his shoulder he starts to shake a bit
“hey hey it’s okay” you say helping him sit down
“y/n we should get going he’s probably going to wake up soon” he says trying to stand up “there’s two of us and one of him” you say “it’s okay just relax” you say rubbing his arm “now tell me how come murphy calls you 10k?” you add
“i plan on killing ten thousand z’s” he says with a big grin on his face
“what are you up to now?” you say laughing a bit
“i don’t remember” he says with a confused look on his face “hey it’s okay” you say putting your hand on his shoulder
“i-i can’t believe you’re alive” he says taking your hand from his shoulder and intertwining his fingers with yours
“don’t act so surprised” you say jokingly
“i-i’m not it’s just i think about you everyday, all of our stupid jokes in science class and how you’d tell me to shut up whenever i made a joke that wasn’t funny”
you start to blush and get closer to him “tommy” you say leaning in “i missed you so much” you add, he leans in and kisses you then you put your hands on his cheeks “i’ve been wanting to do that since high school” he says his cheeks turning red
“why didn’t you do it then?” you say giggling “i was nervous” he says with a half smile
you rest your head on his shoulder and he kisses your head
the group comes back into the room as murphy wakes up
“y/n what the hell is going on?” warren says looking at you resting on 10k
you sit up and warren grabs murphy “10k?” doc says rushing over to him hugging him
“hey doc” he says smiling
“i knew you were alive” he adds
“i know you did” 10k says still with is arm around you using you for support
“how come you didn’t come with us when you saw us?” addy says
10k pulls down the back of his shirt revealing the bite mark
“you didn’t” warren says gripping murphy
“oh but i did” murphy says smirking “10k why don’t you go destroy your little girlfriend” he adds
10k doesn’t budge “you didn’t, you vaccinated him?” murphy yells you nod your head with a smirk on your face “kid your vaccine worked?!” doc says patting your shoulder you move your hair and reveal the fresh bite the whole group looks at murphy 10k tightens his grip on you “we are going still going to california” warren says pushing him out the door “you don’t understand he’s building an army they will come after us” 10k says panicked following behind the rest of the group
“then we’ll fight” warren says with a serious look on her face, it was a look you’ve never seen before.
you all climb into the truck and your seated in the back with 10k and he’s resting his head on your lap “are you feeling any better?” you say sounding worried he nods his head and looks up at you “i’m just tired” he says
“then get some sleep you’re okay now” you say squeezing his hand he looks up at you and smiles
the group notices the way you two are interacting with each other and addy looks back “do you guys know each other or?” she says with a puzzled look on her face
“you could say that” 10k says shooting up giving you a kiss.
