Chapter 2
Waking up in the morning the girls started getting dressed for class, Half way done they heard screams and bangs outside their apartment, Alexis being the curious one decided to check it out. Opening the door she saw people running and screaming from people. “Alexis? What’s going on?” Shannon asked. “I don’t know. Turn on the news.” She said while walking inside and shutting the door. Shannon turning on the T.V and changing it to the news seeing that people were in their cars and leaving the state. “What’s going on?” Heatha asked while walking into the room.
“ we have no idea.” Shannon said gripping her phone tightly in her hands as she watched the news with a scared look on her face. “I was just out side and people are running around frantically screaming as other people are chasing them.” Alexis said looking to her friends. “I think we should all pack a bag with some clothes and food just encase we need to leave.” she put it looking to the TV again.
The four girls turned from the TV and ran to their rooms to pack a bag. “Shannon in the attic I have a few small guns from my dad can you grab them and the ammo just encase we need it.” Alicia shouted from her room as she threw clothes into her bag before running to the kitchen and throwing food in her bag as well. Shannon quickly grabbed the two hand guns from the attic and a hunting knife that was left here when they moved in. She made her way back down the stairs to throw the things in her bag with a blanket. After she was done Shannon sent a quick text to her parents’ not sure what’s happening but I love you guys and stay safe please.’ was all it said before she shoved the phone into her bag.
Once all the girls had their bags packed they each made their way to the living room to watch the news again. “Alexis why do you have a bow?” Heatha asked seeing the bow and quiver of arrow on Alexis back. “I used to work at a renaissance faire and this is one of the many things I learned to shoot.” She said with a small smile. Heatha let out a small laugh shaking her head at her friend as she turned back to the news… “ IT IS CRUCIAL THAT YOU REMAIN INDOORS AND AWAY FROM THE AFFECTED. SIDE EFFECTS OF THIS INFECTION INCLUDE DEATH, CANNIBALISM, LOSS OF MEMORY”. The news broadcaster said.
The four girls, not knowing what to do sat there and waiting for the screams and yells to die down. “Should we check outside and see if anything is clear?” Heatha asked. “ lets just open the door and look outside. I don’t wanna go all the way outside just incase”. Alexis said looking to her friends. “I understand”. Heatha said moving over to the door to look outside. The screams stopped a few minutes ago now there was nothing but silence. Looking outside and seeing no one the girls grabbed their bags and headed outside. Once outside they started walking to the car and putting their bags in the trunk. “Who’s driving?” Alicia asked. “I’ll drive.” Shannon said.
Once all the girls were seated in the car shannon started the car and backed out. She started driving south of their apartment hoping that she will be avoiding traffic if she goes that way. “what do you think is happening?” Alicia asked as she looked out the car window watching a few people stumbling around covered in blood.
