parker-peter-parker:

It Must Be Love

Pairing: Peter Parker x reader (female pronouns)

Summary: After spending the day with you, Peter realises something he’s known all along (with Aunt May’s help, of course).

Warnings: Just fluff!

A/N: May and Peter’s relationship is so adorable, I love writing about it

“I need to go,” you said regretfully, checking the time on your phone. You were sitting on the floor with your back against Peter’s bed, and he was sprawled out on the mattress behind you. A soft smile tugged at your lips as he draped his arms loosely over your shoulders, burying his face in the crook of your neck.

“Please don’t?” he mumbled, nuzzling his crooked nose against your skin. “You could stay, I could lend you pyjamas.”

“Don’t say that,” you chastised him, turning your head slightly so that you could almost look him in the eye. He grinned cheekily at you.

“Why not?”

“Because I’ll end up staying,” you whispered, pecking his lips and smiling against them. Before he could pull you into his arms again, you started packing your textbooks and notebooks into your rucksack, clearing away the evidence of your day spent with Peter.

“It’s cold out, I’ll give you a jacket,” he said as he closed the window, cutting off the draught that neither of you had noticed. You smiled to yourself, watching as he went to his closet and pulled out his waterproof jacket, holding it for you so that you could slip your arms into the sleeves. As you slung your rucksack over your shoulder, Peter zipped the jacket up carefully, tilting your chin up to stop the zipper catching it.

“Peter Parker, the last of the world’s gentlemen,” you teased. He stuck his tongue out at you, before taking your hand and leading you through the apartment.

“May, (Y/N)’s heading home now!” he called to his aunt, who turned in her seat and waved at you.

“Bye honey, have a good night!”

“You too, Mrs Parker…May,” you amended upon seeing the faux stern look on her face. She winked at you as you and Peter made your way to the front door.

“I’ll miss you,” Peter huffed, pulling you close for a hug. You grinned against his chest.

“You’ll see me tomorrow, silly. But I’ll miss you too.”

“Call me when you get home?” he requested, his beautiful brown eyes wide with something between concern and hope. You kissed his cheek lightly, and smiled at the faint pink blush that spread across his skin.

“Always. I’ll see you later, Peter.”

“See you,” he breathed, watching as you headed out the door and towards the elevator. “(Y/N) wait!” he called, jogging after you.

You turned, confused. “Did I forget something?”

Peter grinned at you as he stopped in front of you. “Yup. This.” He tilted your chin up to kiss you sweetly, smiling against your lips.

“Well I’m glad you remembered,” you muttered, kissing him again. “Now I really do need to go, or I’ll never be allowed out again.”

“You better go then. I wouldn’t survive if I couldn’t see you every day,” he told you, making no move to let you go. You sighed affectionately, pushing gently at his chest to get him to go back to his apartment.

“You need to stop saying cute stuff, I’ll never be able to leave if you don’t,” you grinned, stepping into the elevator and not taking your eyes off of him as the doors slid shut.

“I love you,” he whispered, too late for you to have heard. He turned back to step into his apartment, his heart feeling at least three sizes bigger in his chest and a giddy smile taking over his face.

Peter curled up in the worn armchair across from May, a lovestruck smile pulling his lips back to expose almost straight teeth as he hugged a cushion to his chest. His aunt beamed at him, immediately diagnosing his symptoms.

“You and (Y/N) are doing well,” she commented, noticing that he bypassed his usual reaction of blushing and ducking his head in favour of an even wider grin.

“She’s just so amazing, y’know? I never really realised I was missing her until I found her.” He screwed his face up, running a hand through his caramel curls. “That sounds stupid, doesn’t it?”

May shook her head instantly. “That’s exactly how I felt with your uncle Ben.”

Peter’s face softened at the mention of his late uncle, something that had dulled to an ache over the years stirring in his heart. He recognised the misty look in his aunt’s eyes, and moved to sit on the arm of the sofa beside her. He draped an arm over her shoulders and she leaned into his side.

“I think I love her, May,” he said quietly. The older woman smiled knowingly, looking up at the boy who was as good as her son.

“I think you do, too,” she told him. “What’s more, I think she loves you.”

He let out a giddy huff of laughter, looking down at his aunt. “You really think so?”

“Oh definitely. The way she looks at you is not the way a girl looks at someone she just likes.”

Peter bit his lip to stop his grin splitting his face in half. “How do I tell her? I have to tell her.”

“You tell her every day, and every time something reminds you of her. You make sure that no one ever feels more loved than your girl does with you.”

He nodded to himself, resolving to do just that. At that moment, his phone started ringing in his pocket and a photo of you flashed on his screen.

“I’m gonna tell her now,” he decided, beaming at the photo. “Thanks, May.”

He kissed his aunt’s forehead before hurrying through to his bedroom to answer the phone, missing the nostalgic smile on May’s face as your voice filled his ears.

“Hey Peter-”

“I love you.”

A/N: Feedback and requests in my ask would mean the world!!! I hope you’re having a wonderful day and have something good happen to you soon.
