Summary: When May spotted bruises on Peter’s neck. You blurted out the first thing that came into your mind to save your best friend from revealing his identity. It’s hickeys from you.
You were currently on Peter’s bed covered in blankets as you watch Star Wars on his laptop while you wait for him to come back from his daily Spidermaning. An hour into the movie, the window opened and Peter crawled in quietly.
“Hey, how did it go?” You asked scanning him up and down for injuries. Being best friends with Peter means playing nurse everytime he gets hurt from his patrols. He doesn’t seem to be sporting some kind of injury today though.
“I stopped a couple of muggings.” Peter said as he throws on a t-shirt and sweatpants. “One of the mugger actually found this long metal stick out of nowhere and swings at me like a mad man.”
He climbed onto the bed and buried himself into the mess of blankets with you. Peter was squished into your side, both of you crowded together in his bed that is obviously only meant for one. You guys make it work though.
“It was a wonder that I made it out unschathed.”
“I mean, you’re our friendly neighborhood spider-man for a reason.” You said, loving the way a soft smile spreads on his face as you complimented him.
Moments like these are what really makes your heart flutter. There’s just something about being cuddled up to Peter, and have his familiar scent fill your head, that makes your heart swell with love for the boy you call your best friend.
May’s voice sounded from outside a few minutes later. “Peter! Can you please help me with these groceries?”
Both of you shuffled outside to the bags of groceries that are placed on a counter.
“Hey May,” Peter greeted and digged into the groceries and starts putting it away.
You grab the cartons of milk and placed it into the fridge. “Hi May!”
“Oh hi Y/N, didn’t know you were coming tonight. Will you be staying overnight?” May smiled warmly as she placed packs of pasta into a cabinet.
“Yeah. We’re having a Star Wars marathon.” You answered.
“Nerds.” May muttered beneath her breath, a fond smile on her face.
Peter’s voice quipped in giving May a playful offended look. “Hey! I heard that May.”
May laughed and rolled her eyes at Peter. “But you are.” Then she suddenly stopped and squints her eyes at Peter. “Peter is that a bruise on your neck.”
Peter’s eyes go wide as his hand quickly went to his neck. “A b-bruise?
“Bruises. Did you get into a fight Peter?.” May asked with a frown.
“Oh! Y-yeah, in school we were learning uh karate at gym today.”
May’s frown just deepened further. “Today is Saturday, Peter. You don’t have school.”
Peter stays silent although his face is blown with panic. You can tell he doesn’t know what to say anymore so you decided to help out. It’s probably a bad idea, but it’s the first thing that came into your mind.
“Those are hickeys!”
Both of them snapped their gazed to you in an instant. Peter has a horrified look on his face as he and May chime together. “What?”
“Hickeys?” May asked, ignoring Peter’s panicked looks beside her.
Heat creeps up your neck as you opened your mouth again. “I’m the one that gave it to him. I’m sorry.”
Peter’s eyes widen and he mouthed ‘What are you doing?!’ which you ignored completely.
“Are you guys dating?”
“Yes. I’m so sorry you had to find out like this.” You shuffled closer to Peter and gave an elbow to his ribs.
“Y-yeah,” he chokes out, “I’m sorry we didn’t tell you sooner.”
May’s frown finally relaxed as she studied both of you. “How long have you been together?”
“2 weeks.” You answered at the same time Peter said, “Since last week.”
“He asked me out 2 weeks ago, but we only started to officialy date a week after.” You add, saving both of you before Peter could go into another panic.
Right then, the doorbell rang and Peter bolted from his spot to get it. “It’s the pizza. I’ll go get it.”
You rolled your eyes knowing fully well, he’s just trying to escape the conversation.
“He’s a good boy, Peter.” May said to you and you nodded with a knowing smile.
“I’ve been waiting for this to happen. I didn’t know Peter actually had the guts to ask you out.” May chuckled. “The boy talks about you all the time. And the way he looks at you is the cutest thing I’ve seen.”
You were silent as you took this all in. Peter actually likes you? You never wanted to ruin your friendship with him, so you decided to never tell him about your feelings.
“I can tell he really likes you Y/N.” May said and she looks at you with a kind smile. “I’m glad it’s you, Y/N.”
“Pizza’s here!” Peter announced and placed the boxes of pizza’s on the table.
“I guess we’ll save the talk for later.”
“May!”

With full stomachs both of you continued the Star Wars marathon. Luckily, May didn’t give you guys the talk because of Peter’s endless protests. Instead she shouted a ‘stay safe!’ as both you went off to Peter’s room which made Peter’s face to flush a deep shade of red.
“Y/N, does this mean we have to fake date?” Peter asked as he toyed with the ends of the blanket.
“It doesn’t have to be fake.”
“What?”
You bore your eyes into his, movie long forgotten. “I.. I like you Peter. More than a friend.”
Peter breath fanned your face from your close proximity. “I like you too, Y/N.”
Both of you leaned in closer toward each other until your lips touched in a sweet kiss. Your hand is fisted in Peter’s t-shirt as he kissed you slowly, releasing all the pent up feelings.
You both pull away, breathless with huge smiles on your faces.
“Does hickeys really look like this?” Peter suddenly asked, pointing to the bruise on his neck.
“Not really. Thank god it’s pretty dark for May to really see.” You raised your eyebrow at him. “You’ve never seen a hickey before, Parker?”
A tinge of pink made it’s way back to Peter’s cheeks. “Not really.”
“We can change that.”
Let’s just say, Peter’s bruises multiplied when he woke up the next morning.
