or what are some troubles Bucky has in the modern world because things are so different and open

invisibleanonymousmonsters:

– People always assume that Bucky would be bad at technology

– But that boy was a science nerd and the world’s deadliest assassin

– You think Hydra didn’t train him to adapt and learn the newest technology with the snap of a finger? WRONG.

– Yes, Bucky understands how to use new tech

– What he doesn’t understand is how society has decided to use said technology

– No matter how many times you try to explain social media, Bucky just can’t wrap his mind around the culture

– “So people just take pictures of themselves and post them for everyone to see?” He would ask with an adorable frown

– “Yes. They’re called selfies. Not everyone does that. I’m not a fan, to be honest. It’s always felt a little narcissistic to me.”

– “I’ll say…” Bucky sighs.

– Bucky gets a smartphone because it was basically required of him

– But outside of work, he only uses it to communicate with you and Steve

– Bucky understands how people use their phones nowadays, but that doesn’t mean he conforms to it

– You love how he sends you text messages like he’s sending you handwritten letters. He even signs off with “Love, Bucky” at the end of every text even though he knows his name pops up when it’s sent to you.

– You find it adorable every time

– Bucky loves that he can send you photos whenever he wants. He’ll send you a picture of a cute dog he saw when he went on his morning run. Or he’ll send a picture of him and Steve together when he misses you. He also loves sending funny videos of Sam because he knows it annoys him. But more importantly, he knows it makes you laugh.

– Outside of technology, Bucky struggles with what is considered polite and rude today

– He’s astounded by the worlds lack of manners, especially from men

– You have to give him a very long talk about women’s rights and feminism and how it has changed the way a lot of things work. When you explain it to him from a female perspective, he understands it better and accepts it happily. But it also doesn’t stop him from opening your door, insisting on paying for certain things, and continuing little chivalrous acts.

– You have to learn to accept that some of the olds ways conditioned into him will never go away

– Bucky has a love/hate relationship with the internet

– He loves how he can look up anything he wants and learn about anything

– But he also despises how much hate can be spread on the internet, along with fake news and lies

– You warn him to never read the comments ANYWHERE

– But you’ve found him look at forums and boards about him a couple times.

– You had to talk him down and make him understand why it wasn’t good to look himself up

– He knew you were right

– Bucky is also amazed at the sexual liberation of the 21st century

– People used to judge others for how much sex others were having. Now people judge others for how little sex they’re having.

– This required another feminist lecture from Y/N. Once again, Bucky listened and kept an open mind.

– Bucky blushed when he heard blunt comments about people’s sex lives. But he’d never be as bashful as Steve was. Bucky got used to it quicker than Y/N expected. The blushing eventually disappeared and was replaced by an amused smirk.

– Overall, Bucky appreciates all the ways the world has improved since the 40s. Especially the improvement with how the world treats women, minorities, and foreigners. But he also has to acknowledge that marginalized groups were still not treated equally. There was still work to be done

– Don’t even get him started on the modern Nazis that have come out of the shadows.

– You cringe at the idea of one of them crossing Steve and Bucky’s path
