Summary: You are Dr. Strange’s apprentice, he’s helping you practice magic and the arts, all the things you need to know. One day, you’re walking around his house and Thor, your long time friend, decides to drop in, but brings an unexpected guest: his handsome, god of mischief brother, Loki Lafeuyson. (INFINITY WAR NEVER HAPPENED)
Author’s Note: I saw this idea somewhere and I kind of fell in love with it 😉 (if you know where it’s from, tell me the tag and I’ll tag them) so I decided to do a little drabble about it, if you guys like it and want a part two, let me know :). (I’ve been in lifeguard classes ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL week and I have had no time to do anything so my part two to “Find Your Way Back Home” may be a little late but here’s something short to hold you guy’s over)
You’re walking around the house, flipping through one of Dr. Steven Strange’s ancient books, coughing when the dust rises from it. He gives you pop quizzes whenever he can, coming to you, randomly shouting off questions that you have to answer correctly, and you usually do because you’re a good student with a good teacher.
And over the years, you’ve acquired many talents, creating portals of your own, harnessing your own magic, and, as cheesy as it sounds, making friends along the way. All the Avengers treated you as an equal, mostly because they were scared of you and your power (jokingly, of course), but also because you’re one of them, apart of a team, but you’ve been living in Dr. Strange’s quarters for years now. He rescued you from the attack when Loki Lafeuyson attacked New York City, your home, leaving your home and everyone you know crumbled to pieces, for you to fend for yourself. You were young, only five at the time, when it all happened and the Doctor saved you from the clutches of life on the streets.
You’ve been here ever since.
Dr. Strange appears beside you in an instant, “Studying, I see, do you think you will be prepared for the questions later?”
You only chuckle, no longer startled from his sudden appearances anymore, but you weren’t always. Once you popped him in the jaw when he appeared in your bedroom to alert you for breakfast, he stopped for awhile after that.
“I hope so,” you say, twirling your hair. “When do you think I can go out and fight with the rest of the Avengers? And stop being cooped up…” you gesture around you for emphasis. “Here?”
“What’s wrong with staying here?” he asks, hands clasped behind his back as he walks with you down the hallway, now in front of the grand staircase. “It has everything you’d ever need and want.”
“What I want is to get out of here and fight,” you turn to look at him. “I’m not a defenseless child anymore, Steven, I’m twenty one, for Christ’s sake, and ready! You know I am.”
“You’ve certainly excelled in your classes and lessons, yes, but you’re far from ready, my dear, you have no idea how to control your power. You hardly know the extent of it. How would you feel if you killed an innocent human? One of your friends? What would you do then?” he asks, raising his dark eyebrow.
You shake your head, “I just want to help them, that’s all.”
“I know you do,” Steven says, resting a hand on your shoulder. “And you will, I promise you, your time will come.”
You bite down on your lip, nodding, “I can only hope.”
“We don’t hope, we know, that’s why there’s science, facts, and I know that you will be-” he starts, cut off with a loud bang from the door, someone knocking hard on the wood.
“We’ll return to this conversation later, (y/n),” he pats my shoulder once more before swinging the door open with a swift movement of his hand, revealing the familiar, very muscular, Labrador puppy of man, Thor Odinson. He grins widely, striding in the room and taking in the sight of you, opening his arms which you gladly run into. He envelopes you in a tight, affectionate, bear hug, lifting your feet off the ground as he spins you.
He laughs deeply, “I’ve missed you, Lady (y/n)!”
“Missed you too, big guy,” you smile back, your white converse on the solid ground once again, running your hands down your ripped jeans and band tee, blushing at how comfortable and casual you are in front of a god. “I would have dressed up if I knew you were going to be arriving, Thor.”
“Nonsense,” he lifts your hand up and spins you in front of him, smiling, your size small in comparison to you, granted, you were small next to everyone. “You look astonishing in anything you wear, Lady (y/n).”
You look at his hair and touch the now short style, admiring your friend’s new look. “I see you’ve cut your hair.”
“I see you’ve gotten a tattoo,” he points to the back of your neck, exposed because of your messy bun.
“Yeah,” you say bashfully, letting your (y/h/c) hair fall down to cover it. “It’s my parents initials, I got it recently.”
“It’s beautiful, Lady (y/n), what a wonderful sentiment,” he smiles softly and reassuringly. You return it, now realizing just how much you’ve missed him.
“Not that this display of affection isn’t heartwarming, but why are you here? Is there something I need to be worried about?” Steven appears by Thor’s side, spooking him and making his grip on me tighten. He’s not quite used to it yet.
“Not at the moment, but I come to bear bad news,” Thor’s grin is soon replaced with a deep frown. “Asgard has been destroyed, we were able to save most of the people, but it was a tragedy.”
“An email would have sufficed…” Doctor mumbles next to (y/n), you hits him in the side for being insensitive, and he smiles slightly.
“I’m so sorry to hear that, Thor,” you wrap your arms around him again, and he lays his head atop of yours, your head resting on his chest in a warm embrace. “You can stay here, if you’d like.”
Dr. Strange coughs loudly, “Excuse me?”
(Y/N) turns to him and raises her eyebrows, “We need to let him stay here, it would only be until he figures things out, but we have the room and he’s like my brother, Steven. Come on… please?”
He looks at you for a moment before rolling his eyes and giving in to your puppy dog eyes, “Fine, if that’s what you’d like.”
(Y/N) claps her hands together and smiles excitedly, Thor returns it, in good spirits once again.
“It will be wonderful to spend more time with Lady (y/n), but I have someone else with me that will need a room as well…” Thor says, looking to Doctor like he knows the answer.
Steven rolls his eyes, casting a quick portal in the air, a man in an all black suit dropping from it, and falling harshly on the floor, making a loud thud.
He whips his long, raven hair out of his face, scowling, “I have been falling…!” he pauses, breathing deeply. “FOR THIRTY MINUTES!”
“Hello, brother,” Thor chuckles, amused by his brother’s pain. “How nice of you to join us.”
The man pulls himself up, turning around to glare at the Doctor, “How dare you, I am a prince and a god, what kind of low-ranked, incompetent wizard-”
“Is that…” your breath catches in your throat, your blood boiling at the sight of him in front of you, the man that destroyed your home and your family.
Loki turns to you, still breathing deeply and frustrated, but his lips edge into a small smile at the sight of your beauty and evident power, he can feel it radiating off of you and it spurred him on, smirking. “You have a cute apprentice, Doctor.”
He continues to look at you, stepping closer to you instead of the Doctor now. Steven shakes his head and throws a portal at him, “And out you go.”
“Steven!” you yell at him, taking both him and Thor by surprise. “Bring him back. Now. I want a word with him.”
Thor frowns, “I don’t think that’s a good idea, Lady-”
“I don’t care if it’s a bad idea!” you snap at him. “He killed my family, destroyed my home. Let me…” you turn to Steven. “Let me talk to him. And I’m not asking again.”
Steven sighs, bringing him back, “The second he gets too close, he’ll be on Easter Island next.”
Loki appears again, dusting grass of his flawless suit, and your breath is ragged now, your body filled with anger once again.
You walk determinedly up to him, his eyes enraptured by your delectable physique and body, licking his bottom lip when you’re up close to him.
He grins, and your stomach flips, from being uneasy, angry, or because his smile’s nice, you don’t know, but all you can feel is fierce rage, fueled by sadness.
“I see you’ve taken my invitation, what do you say we-”
SMACK!
You slapped him hard across the face, the sound echoing around the room, Thor’s booming laughter ringing afterwards.
“Good girl,” Steven smiles.
“How dare you show your face here, after what you did,” you spit. “And that was just a taste of what I will do to you if you choose to stay.”
Loki only smiles, attractive dimples making an appearance on either side of his pink lips as he looks to his brother, “I like her.”
“The feeling isn’t mutual, you son of a bitch,” you quip, fast, venom laced in your words.
“Oh, I definitely like her,” his smirk widens, surprised at how aroused he is from your anger towards him and fearlessness.
“The room here only stands for Thor,” you say to him, peeling your eyes away from his flattering, black suit. What are you doing? You can’t find this man handsome, he’s killed so many people…
“As always, little brother,” Thor bows. “I am the one women prefer.”
“Quit while you’re ahead, Thor, this is only because you’re my friend, not because I want you to get in my pants,” you point, a threatening glare in your eyes. Thor winks playfully.
“Well, aren’t you just ravishing when you’re mad?” Loki purrs, eyes glazing over you.
“If you think this is all that happens when I’m mad, you’re sadly mistaken,” you say between gritted teeth.
He growls, low in his throat, “Oh, please show me more, darling.”
Was that a sexual innuendo?
Thor shakes his head with a loud chuckle, “This is very entertaining, I like this.”
“I don’t,” you say, not letting go of Loki’s mischief filled gaze, and not once backing down from the intense staring contest. “Frankly, this is my worst nightmare.”
“You must be joking, love, because the sight before me is nothing short of a dream,” he looks over you again, smirking.
Thor smiles at the tension between them, looking from you to Loki and back again, never seeing you this angry before.
