5: “Wait a minute. Are you jealous?”
“So you’re coming to the game right?” Liam asked as you slammed your locker closed. “Of course,” you smiled, making Liam smile in return. Today was a big game between Beacon Hills High and Devenford Prep, and you wouldn’t miss the game for the world. You clutched your textbook to your chest as you walked side by side with Liam down the hall to your last class of the day, engaging in small talk that made the butterflies in your stomach go wild. What could you say? He was cute, and attractive, and funny, and literally one of the nicest people you knew. Falling for him was almost inevitable.
As the game was almost close to beginning, you found yourself walking towards the field with Mason, wanting to wish Liam good luck one last time. You found Liam sitting on the bench twirling his stick in between his fingers, his leg nervously jumping up and down as he watched the other players. Mason put his hand on Liam’s shoulder, causing his eyes to snap up to the two of us. “Man, you’re gunna do fine, calm down,” Mason laughed, causing Liam to exhale loudly. “Liam you’re an amazing lacrosse player, you’re going to do fine,” you said honestly, finally making Liam break a small smile. The three of you talked for a few more minutes before you saw Mason staring across the field. You followed his line of sight to see one of the Devenford Prep players with his shirt off, his abs on full display. “Wow there Mason, don’t be greedy,” you joked, causing Mason to laugh, as Liam looked on confused. “You think he’s hot?” Liam asked annoyed as Mason shrugged. “I’m not saying yes, all I’m saying was if I said no, I would be lying,” he said, a quick chuckle escaping your lips. “What about you (y/n),” Liam asked his leg bouncing up and down once again, “do you think he’s hot?” You looked back over to the player as he was putting on his jersey, his muscles still on full display. “Yeah I guess so,” you said as Mason gave you a high five. You saw the way Liam’s jaw clenched up, his eyes not daring to leave yours as his knuckles wrapped tightly around his lacrosse stick. One of the coaches blew their whistles, indicating the game would be starting in a minute, causing Mason to say something about saving seats on the bleachers before running off. “Good luck Liam,” you said smiling as he his eyes now didn’t even look your way. “Liam?” You asked, moving in front of him, giving him no choice but to look at you. His face remained emotionless as his lips pressed in a straight line, making you frown. What the hell was with the three sixty in emotions? A moment of realization hit you, as you couldn’t help but smirk. “Wait a minute. Are you jealous?” you asked as Liam tried to brush it off. “What? Me? Jealous? Of what?” he mumbled standing up now as the team began to jog onto the field. “Liam,” you said getting his attention, wanting to make this right before the game began, knowing Liam wouldn’t be at his best in this state. “We’ll talk later okay? I have to go play a game,” he mumbled, pulling his helmet onto his head. “Hey Liam,” you said loudly as he had already jogged a bit away from you. He turned around slightly, as you let out another small smirk. “You’re hotter,” you said confidently, as you could practically see the smile radiate through his helmet.
