a-fallen-little-pine-cone:

the warmth of home

alternate title: let us rest in peace

word count: idek man

a/n: honestly this is based off a dream I had so I don’t have any character in mind, but it could be any male character really, and as usual it’s fully gender neutral 🙂 it is short though

You gently tug at his arm, fingers interlocked with a carefulness you reserved only for him.

“C’mon idiot, you’re hurt and deserve rest. Let’s go to bed,” you whine, looking up at him hoping to see his resolve crumble. You aren’t disappointed, and the way his eyes soften make your cheeks flush. He lets you drag him along regardless, no longer resisting, and you revel in his presence.

For a moment you stumble, crossing the threshold into your bedroom, but you recover, unable to do anything but giggle at your misstep. He stumbles along with you, never faltering, keeping his thumb running over the supple skin of your palm.

And when you clamber onto your bed, dragging him with you, he practically collapses next to you, sinking into the mountains of blankets you keep year round.

Instinctively you pull him towards you with care, sighing contentedly when he curls up beside you, his hair tickling your chin with such familiarity. You warp yourself around his form, enveloping him in what you hope is a comforting embrace, and place a soft kiss to the crown of his head.

“I love you,” you whisper as his breath evens out. “I love you so much.”
