“Come on, Y/N.”

“I said I was sorry.”

“I really am sorry.”

“I know,” you mumbled, finally speaking up. Glancing up, you met Liam’s eyes hesitantly, almost unsure of yourself. “I know you are… it’s just…”

“I wasn’t myself,” Liam shook his head, taking a tentative step towards you. “It doesn’t excuse what I said, I know. But i’m getting better at it. Controlling myself on a full moon, I mean. And what I said…” Liam sighed, letting out a shaky breath. Now that you were looking at him, it was clear how much this was really eating at him.

Guiltily you hadn’t noticed before, too focused on your own self pity. But as you stared up at him, watching as his lips were curved into a deep frown and guilt flooded his gaze, you realized what he’d done and what it was doing to him now.

“I’m not mad,” you shook your head, glancing at your hands. Fiddling with your fingers, you bit your lip. “Am I hurt? Yeah. But i’m not mad at you. Despite what you said, I understand you weren’t yourself.”

Liam took a seat beside you, and you let him. You didn’t move away like you would’ve moments ago and instead, you turned to face him again, offering a small smile. “I love you, Y/N,” he whispered, “and when I said that I didn’t… it wasn’t true. I was just angry and the wolf inside me, the part I can’t control, was fighting to break through. It hurt so much I couldn’t think straight.”

Sighing, you raised your hand, letting it fall on Liam’s cheeks. “It’s okay,” you reassured, nodding at him.

“No, Y/N,” he shook his head, pulling your touch off of him. “It’s not. What I said w-”

“Liam,” you interrupted, reaching out for him again. Pulling his gaze back on you, you nodded at him. “You said it yourself, it wasn’t you. You didn’t have control. It’s okay.”

“But-”

“It’s okay,” you repeated, this time with a bit more force. “Now look, i’ve forgiven you. So you need to forgive yourself.”

Liam stared back at you in shock, as if baffled at the thought of you forgiving him so easily. “How?” He asked, confusion flooding his gaze. “How can you just forgive me like that? Especially after what I said…”

“Because I love you,” you said almost immediately. “And you said it yourself. You weren’t in control. It hurt, yeah, it hurt like hell. But I know you didn’t mean it.”

“I didn’t.”

“There you go.” You smiled, “I love you Liam and you love me. So it’s okay.”

Liam hesitantly nodded, the edges of his lips curling upwards ever so slightly. With a wider smile yourself, you let your thumb stroke his cheek, giggling slightly.

“You’re too sweet.”
