Mall Days

Loki x reader

Warnings: none, is Loki in a suit a warning??? Be prepared anyway

It was mall day for the Avengers, which meant lots of spending, eating shitty pretzels, and having a great time. As the world’s protectors, you and the team never really had a chance to do normal people things, so once a month you guys had agreed to get out and do something fun. This month, it was the mall, and you had never been more excited. You loved shopping, even if you weren’t going to buy anything. It was entertainment enough to just walk around and look at books, nice clothes, and eye catching trinkets. Whatever you did, mall days were always sure to be interesting.

What the Avengers didn’t realize was that by bringing everybody, that really meant everybody, which meant that nobody would be back at the Tower supervising the team’s newest addition, Loki. This definitely put a damper on the mood of the group, because it was assumed that they would have to cancel the mall day in order to stay behind and watch him, but luckily, you saved the day and volunteered to keep and eye on him if they brought him to the mall too.

And that was how you ended up here, in Forever 21, inspecting a blouse while Loki followed you around like a lost puppy.

You were just about to pick up another blouse you found pretty when you heard a whine behind you.

“Can we please leave this godforsaken store now, Miss Y/N?” Loki drawled, putting his head in his hand as he sat on the edge of one of the display tables.

“Loki, I haven’t even found a shirt I like,” you stated calmly, trying to ignore his impatient antics.

“You haven’t bought anything at any of the stores you’ve been to,” he pointed out. “So why are we still here?”

You sighed in annoyance, admitting to yourself that he had made a fair point.

“Alright,” you conceded, “Let’s go to another store.”

Loki breathed out in relief and got up to follow you out of the Forever 21.

“Where are we going now?” he asked almost excitedly.

You thought for a little bit, then snapped your fingers as an idea hit you. “We’re going to a store I think you’ll like,” you said, smirking as you walked in the direction of your destination.

~~~~~
“Men’s Wearhouse?” Loki asked in confusion, reading the sign above the store you had just ushered him into.
“Yeah!” you replied enthusiastically. “I figured you were tired of seeing women’s clothes, so I brought you here to try on some suits and stuff.”
Loki frowned, then saw the excitement on your face and softened his own expression. If this made you happy and kept him busy, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad here after all.
You were already looking through some dress shirts and suit jackets that you thought would fit him, and you eventually stumbled upon a green shirt paired with a beautiful glossy black tie.
Perfect.
You quickly pulled them off the rack and handed them to Loki, who you pushed into the changing rooms before he had time to protest.
After waiting outside for a few minutes, you heard a grunt followed by a growl of frustration, and you looked up as Loki emerged from the dressing room in the shirt, still holding the tie.
The room suddenly felt about 10 degrees warmer as you realized:
Fuck, Loki was HOT.
The shirt fit him perfectly and accented his shoulders and slim but athletic frame. And god damn the pants fit in all the right places.
Loki didn’t seem to notice your increasingly flustered state, and he walked forward, shoving the tie at you and saying, “I don’t know how to put this bloody thing on.”
“H-here, let me do it,” you stuttered, getting up from your seat to take the tie from him.
As you lifted up his collar and wrapped the tie around his neck, you realized that this was the closest you had ever been to Loki, and it was certainly having an effect on you. Your hand trembled slightly as you tied the knot and tightened it, and you were having trouble putting the shiny fabric through the loop you had created.
Loki noticed your struggle, and he reached up, placing his hands on yours to steady your shaking.
“Miss Y/N, are you quite alright? You seem to be out of sorts,” he commented lightly, looking at you with a concerned face.
You all but melted under his intense gaze, shaking your head to clear your thoughts and replying, “Yes, yes I’m fine, I was just….thinking.”
Loki looked confused but didn’t mention it again, letting you continue with your task. When you were done, you stood back and admired your work, nodding in satisfaction at the sight before you.
“Go look at yourself in the mirror,” you said, urging Loki towards the full body mirror on the wall.
Loki looked at himself a long time, turning this way and that to see himself from different angles.
“It’s not what I’m used to,” he said after a while, “But I think it’s quite nice.”
He turned around with a shy smile on his face.
“What do you think?”
Your heart began beating loudly in your chest, almost encouraging you to say what was really on your mind.
“I think you look extremely handsome, Loki,” you said with a bright smile.
Loki’s grin widened and he looked down at his feet awkwardly.
“Usually it’s Thor that gets the compliments, but I thank you immensely for saying that,” he said.
You walked up to him and put a hand on his shoulder, looking up into his bright blue eyes.
“Don’t worry Loki, I think you’re just as handsome, if not more handsome than Thor,” you said reassuringly.
Loki beamed down at you, happy that finally someone saw him as an equal to his brother. You were just glad that you had made the right choice in coming to Men’s Wearhouse, or else you never would have been able to see the rare sight before you.
In a burst of courage, you pulled Loki’s tie and brought his head level with yours, whispering in his ear, “We’re definitely buying these clothes.”
Loki frowned and said, “We don’t have any money, Lady Y/N.”
At this, you pulled out a metallic gold credit card and waved it in front of his face.
“I stole this bad boy from Tony’s wallet. He’ll never miss a couple hundred bucks in his bank account,” you said, smirking at your accomplishment.
Loki grinned mischievously, then gave you a quick peck on the cheek before saying into your ear, “I do love naughty girls.”
You punched Loki lightly on the arm and laughed.
“I know ya do, sport, now get changed so I can pay for your shit,” you pushed Loki back into the changing room and went back to your seat to wait for him.
“Language, Y/N,” you heard him say from inside.
You giggled and replied, “I’m gonna tell Cap you stole his catchphrase, then he’ll beat your ass.”
“No you won’t,” Loki snickered. “You love me.”
You laughed and made no comment, the voice inside your head screaming at you to stop your feelings before they got out of hand. You shook your head to dispel your thoughts, then said softly, more to yourself than to Loki, “Maybe I do.”
Yep. Mall days were definitely interesting.
