#4: A kiss where it hurts

You were helping Jason cook dinner in the kitchen, getting to spend some quality time with him. Jason was watching over a pan on the stove, and you were chopping some vegetables.
Smiling to yourself, you thought of all the sweet things Jason had done for you today. He’d woken you up by peppering your face with kisses, made you breakfast in bed and then you’d gone to the bookstore, spending several hours there. After that, lunch at one of your favorite diners, and a romantic walk in the park.
Distracted by your thoughts, your hand slipped and you sliced your finger with the sharp knife.
Muttering a curse, you set the knife down and went over to the sink, turning on the faucet and putting your finger under the stream of water.
Jason was by your side in an instant, gently grabbing your hand and inspecting the cut.
Smiling sympathetically at you, he rummaged in the cupboard for a Band-Aid. Finally finding one, he placed it on your cut, being ever so gentle.
Smirking, you raised your hand, a pout on your lips.
“Kiss it better?” You asked, barely able to hide your grin.
Rolling his eyes, Jason brought your hand to his lips and kissed your bandage. “Better?”
Giggling, you nodded and kissed his cheek. Standing on your tiptoes, you whispered into Jason’s ear, your breath stirring his midnight locks.
“Your pan is on fire.”
Alarmed, he turned back to the stove, where his pan was indeed on fire. Cursing, he removed it from the heat and put a lid on it, snuffing out the flames.
He turned back to you with a sheepish grin. “How do you feel about take-out?”
Why is it that every time I write a kitchen scene, something ends up on fire? 😂
