Requested prompt: “Don’t be stupid, I’m not leaving you.”
#78
You run into an old ex with Damian.
Within Gotham’s grimy and criminal infested streets, people lived and breathed it’s air and called this place home. You had lived there your whole life, so much so you almost knew the signs when trouble was to arise, like the shuffling and fidgeting of a man, around the corner of an ally, waiting for his pray. But sometimes in Gotham, unexpected events arise. Like the Batman. Who knew this man dressed as a bat could come up from no where, and clean the streets almost pristine, disrupting the criminal chain?
You had met Batman when Damian introduced the two of you. He was kind and gentle, a vast contrast to his persona within the suit. Damian trusted you, after all you had been together for quite some time. You met when he was on duty as Robin. You had seen him crouching on the roof top across your apartment through your window. You had seen a man creep up behind him, and when you saw he didn’t notice it, you had yelled,
“HEY!”, Robin looked to you, and you vigorously pointed behind him. Surprised, he took the man down. To this day, Damian constantly says,
“I knew the man was there, i just was waiting for the right time to take him out.”, to which you nod your head, smile and say, “What ever you say.”
It was night in Gotham. The stars invisible from the light pollution, and the streets dark but busy. Damian and yourself had gone to see a movie. You thought it was fantastic, him however scoffed at every fight scene he saw muttering,
“pfft, please” under his breath.
As you exited the theatre, Gotham’s cold breeze had swept up your hair, and prickled your goose bumps. Damian with his trained eyes noticed, took off his jacket, and placed it on your shoulders, the warmth settling in fast.
“Thanks” You say, he smiles slightly and takes your hand. You two begin walking down the street. Damian had a tough childhood. Can you even call it a childhood? But even through out his hard times, he had learnt off Bruce, to always cherish the ones you love, and to protect them at all costs. Damian had a heart, and you saw it. He loved you, and you him.
Whilst walking in silence down the street, the street lights became less frequent. The darkness swelled, becoming more prominent. You two had walked, until you were suddenly stopped by a man in a cut out black beanie. You stopped, Damian instinctively pushing you slightly behind him. His stance was ready, as was the mans. He held a knife, small but able to do damage. But as he was about to charge, his eyes widened and he stood up straight.
Damian looked at him curiously. He took off the beanie, and his hair fell down to sit on his head.
“(y/n)?” He questioned. Damian looked slightly towards you, careful not to completely take all eyes off the man. Your eyes fussed, until they rose again at the recognition of the dirty blond hair, and bright blue eyes.
“Dan?” You ask. Dans smile grew large, he started laughing. It echoed through the streets, he held his stomach.
“(y/n)?! I never knew i would see you again!”
“Who’s this?” Damian asked,
“my ex.” You stated. Damian nodded, all attention back on Dan. Dan looked towards Damian, then back at you,
“Hey (y/n), what about you ditch they guy and we can talk. You know, set things straight huh?” his smile wide, teeth broken, dirty, eye black and swollen. What happened to him?
“uh-”
“Don’t be stupid,” Damian interrupted, “I’m not leaving you.” He reassured. You smiled slightly. Damian began walking towards Dan, Dan stood still at Damian’s sudden but quiet approach.
“hey wh-?!”
Damian grabbed his shoulders and pushed him hard into the brick building. Dan was knocked of air.
“if you ever come near (y/n) again, or even try to mug an innocent person on the street, i was make sure that you will never walk agi-”
“Okay Damian, i think that’s enough yeah?” You interrupt. Damian looked towards you, then back at Dan, letting him go. He straightened his shirt,
“yes, sorry.” he turned to you and smiled,
“Alright, let’s go. It’s getting cold.” You smiled and Damian offered his hand, you graciously took it.
You turned to Dan,
“Dan, you should go and try and find some help.” You said quietly, eyes in sorrow for his situation right now. Dan looked up then ran away like a child.
You let out a breath of air, and returned back to Damian and began walking.
He put his arm around your shoulder, and pulled you in to kiss your forehead,
“That was more interesting than the movie if i do say so myself.” He joked,
You hit him softly,
“The movie was good! come on!” He laughed,
“Alright alright, it wasn’t too bad.” You smiled and put your arm around his waist, and walked home in the dark streets of Gotham together.
