A/N: here’s one of the first repeat requests from the 14DOTP
Challenge I am writing them all and posting them as promised!
It’s 9pm and you’re walking home with your heels in one hand
like some sort of pre-walk-of-shame to which, thankfully, you hadn’t done the
shameful act because your date never showed up in the first place.Yes, you’ve been stood up.
You 100% should not be walking the streets of Gotham alone
at night, and that point is proven as you hear the sound of a motor that grows
increasingly louder as it approaches you and you heavily consider chucking your
shoes at the motorcyclist and running when they stop next to you.“Need a ride?”
“Do I know you?” you respond rhetorically. Keeping
your eyes low, you don’t give more than a cursory glance at the motorist in a
red helmet who’s slowed down considerably to match your pace.“You know it’s dangerous to be walking the streets of
Gotham alone at night—” you chuckle at his mom-like demeanor; he kind of reminds you of
a certain friend who tried to talk you out of going on this date earlier this
evening. “Especially dressed like that…”“What
is that supposed to mean?” You
stop in your tracks and spin to face the man in a leather jacket who speaks
through a red helmet, once again ready to throw the foot death traps people
call shoes at him, and then you realize who he is.“N-Nothing-
y-you- I-I just meant that you look really amazing—” He stops when he
notices you laughing a little. You couldn’t help finding it funny the Red Hood of all people would get flustered
because of you.“Thanks,”
you mutter, biting back a smile.“And
I’ll be fine; I’ll probably call my friend to pick me up if Gotham’s most
feared vigilante is so worried.”“Or
you could let Gotham’s most feared vigilante take you home safely,” he
suggests, and you raise an eyebrow, weighing your options. A small silence
weighs down between the pair of you as you examine his helmet as though you
could see his face through it and to Jason Todd, the man behind it, he thinks
you’ve somehow achieved that because he feels like your eyes are boring into
his.“All
right,” you agree, and he steadies the bike so you can get on.“So
why are you walking out here alone,
looking like that?”“Ugh,”
you groan, thinking about your shitty night. “Just this guy- my friend
told me not go out with this guy and he stood me up- Jason, my friend, can
never know about this otherwise I’d never hear the end of it.”He lets out
a low chuckle at the irony of it all, but mostly because he did tell you so.
Jason glances back at you to make sure you’re getting on all right, and the
thought occurs to him that he’s always known you were beautiful but seeing you
all dressed up for someone that wasn’t him just made him feel like he took a
punch to the gut— which he did after he left you and started his nightly patrol,
and as you wrap your arms around his torso he knows exactly why he felt like
that.Securing
your arms tighter around him, you pull yourself closer so that you’re fully
pressed against his back, and Jason realizes that the night is still young and
you can still have at least one decent date tonight.
