It was hilarious, watching every single one of Peter’s attempts to ask you out failed.
You knew what he was planning since day one. MJ had told you so a long time ago. You were prepared to say yes, of course. You adored that nerdy idiot as much as he did you. There was no way you’d say no.
But now you thought maybe Fate had other plans.
The first time he asked you out, or tried to, was at the bus stop and the driver threatened to leave you there unless you got on that very moment. The next time it was in Chemistry lab right before the table behind you exploded. The third time was going pretty smoothly, until he got a distress call that he just couldn’t miss. Perks of being an Avenger.
You never once tried to stop what always interrupted you two. It was two funny when his face would fall and he’d grit his teeth and clench his fists to not pull his hair. The unnoticeable tantrums were so cute, you couldn’t help but let them go on.
By the sixth time, you could tell he was near tears when MJ showed up at the lunch table and demanded you come with her because ‘it was an emergency’. He didn’t stop her, though. He was too nice. His mouth did fall open when MJ tugged you onto your feet, running a hand through his hair and squeezing his eyes shut in frustration. You bit your lip, deciding enough was enough. You walked over to where he sat and pressed a kiss to his cheek, making him jerk up.
“Meet me at the coffee shop opposite my apartment building today at 5.” You grinned, winking, before turning to leave.
You didn’t see the silent fist pump Peter did, nearly jumping into the air in happiness.
