Show Me the Stars – Tim Drake x Reader

nightwingdiva:

Here’s my very first Tim fic for Valentine prompt number three!

Request: timmy x reader fluffy fluff vday
fic????/ Uhh perhaps the reader is super stressed between work,
worrying about Tim, and school that Tim decides to get her out of work for the
day, take the night off patrol and get her out of classes to give her the
greatest Valentines he can – mostly cause he’s a terrible coffee addicted
workaholic who forgot about last years Valentines Day?

Words: 881

With a bagel
in your mouth, coffee in one hand, and a stack of papers and books in the other
arm, you struggle to open your apartment door. You’re running behind this
morning. You stayed up too late studying and slept through your first alarm.

You hardly
avoid running into the brick wall that is your boyfriend when you finally get
the door open, sending all of your papers fluttering down to the ground.

“Tim! What
are you doing here?” you ask with a bagel muffled voice.

“I think the
real question is what are you doing?” Tim somehow understood your question
through your breakfast.

“I’m trying
to go to class!” you take the bagel out of your mouth with your now free hand.

“No, you’re
not. It is Valentine’s Day, and we are going to have a nice date. That lasts
all day.”

“But, Tim, I
can’t skip class, I—”

“It’s okay,
Y/N,” he takes your coffee from your hand and wraps an arm around your waist.
“I emailed your professors. You’re ‘sick,’ and I’m here to take care of you.”

You narrow
your eyes at him. “This couldn’t have anything to do with last year’s
Valentine’s Day, could it?”

“No, of
course not!” You raise an eyebrow at him. “Yes. Yes, it has a lot to do with
that. But I swear I haven’t forgotten this year!”

“Well
obviously, considering how you’re here in time to ruin my morning routine,” you
snort. One long look in his eyes and you can tell that there’s no way out of
this. Once Tim decides he wants to do something, he follows through with it.
“Okay, what do you have planned?”

“Well,
tonight, I’m taking you out to dinner. But for today, I have two tickets to the
Gotham City Planetarium. Are you prepared for a day of stars and galaxies?”

Your date at
the planetarium was much more romantic than you thought it would be. Tim kept
pointing out different constellations, and the look of excitement on his face every
time he talked about something was adorable. There weren’t very many patrons at
the planetarium considering how it was the middle of the day on a Tuesday, so
it felt almost as if you were the only two in the universe.

By the time
you leave, it’s already getting dark outside. You never thought that you’d find
yourself enjoying a full day at the planetarium, but today you have. Though you
guess it has something to do with the company you’re with.

“So, what’s
for dinner?” you ask once Tim has pulled the car onto the main road.

“I’ve got us
reservations for a nice little Italian place on the waterfront that I think
you’ll really enjoy.”

“Wow. I get
the whole day with you and we’re
going somewhere that’s not Chinese takeout? You must not be patrolling
tonight.”

“Nope,” he
looks at you for a second and smiles. “Tonight I’m all yours.”

“Didn’t
Bruce take his fiancé on a vacation this week? And doesn’t he normally leave
all of you in charge while he’s gone?”

“Yeah, but
what he doesn’t know won’t hurt him. The guys said they had tonight covered,”
he laughs it off, but you can tell he’s a little nervous about Bruce finding
out he’s skipping patrol.

“You’re just
being all kinds of rebellious today, aren’t you?” you lean over and kiss his
cheek as he pulls up to a small building claiming to have the best Italian food
in Gotham. “I like it,” you mutter in his ear, sending a deep red blush
crawling up his neck and cheeks.

You giggle
at his reaction and open the car door, taking a deep breath of the brisk Gotham
air. When you look over at Tim, he’s eyebrows are furrowed and his lips are
pursed. Something is bothering him. You follow his gaze to see two women
walking hand in hand, one with fiery red hair and the other with platinum
blonde hair. You raise an eyebrow at Tim, but he just shakes his hand and pulls
out his phone. He types a short message and sends it before redirecting his
attention to you.

“Sorry about
that,” he says, taking your hand and walking toward the restaurant door. “Let’s
enjoy the evening together.”

The waiter
seats you in the glass room overlooking the bay. All of the tables are lit by
candles, and the stars reflecting off the water creates a dazzling view.

After you
order your meal, Tim takes your hand from across the table.

“There’s a
reason I wanted to take you to the planetarium tonight, and there’s a reason I
wanted us to eat out here,” he reaches in his pocket and pulls out an envelope.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, Y/N.”

You take the
envelope and open it. “Tim… this is—”

“A star.
Your star,” he says then points to an area high in the sky. “Your star is right
there. Now all of the galaxy will know that your love sends me beyond this earth.”

“Tim,” you
start, reaching for words that aren’t there. “I don’t know what to say.”

“You don’t
have to say anything, Y/N,” he smiles at you. “I love you. And you’re my bright
star in a dark world.”
