First Date – Tim Drake x Reader

cait-writes-stuff:

Prompt: I just had legit the most awkward date of my life. Could you do something with Tim or Dick taking their s/o to a super hella fancy restaurant and not really realizing how uncomfortable they are? This just happened to me and it was the worst until they realized what was going on and then we got pizza. (requested by anon)

“I swear Sarah, It was the most uncomfortable date in my life!” You complained into your phone. You friend had called to make sure that you were still alive after your date and if so, demand the juicy details of the night.

“I’m sorry honey.” She replied. You could practically hear your friend cringing at your misfortune on the other line. “Was he too good to be true?” She asked.

“No.” You sighed. “Tim was great, amazing in fact. We hit it off great! It’s just … he made reservations at this really fancy place. You know, this is the kind of place that doesn’t put prices on the menu and nothing is in English.”

“Sounds swanky!” She replied.

“Yeah and totally not my style. It’s apparently not Tim’s either because we ended up leaving the restaurant before we could order.” You explained.

“So where did you guys end up going then?”

The night before:

“This isn’t working is it?” Tim asked nervously running his fingers through his hair.

“I’m sorry Tim, I’m just a little out of my comfort zone here.” You admitted apologetically.

“Yeah, me too.” Tim sighed. “Hey, do you want to get out of here? Grab some pizza at Capone’s?”

“I’d like that a lot actually.” You agreed. You and Tim quickly leave the overpriced restaurant to walk down the street to the best cheap pizza joint in Gotham. While you were walking Tim’s hand accidently brushed against yours.

“Sorry.” Tim apologized blushing slightly at the contact. You smiled warmly at him and intertwined your fingers with his.

“It’s alright. My hands are cold anyway.” You reasoned. Your hands clearly weren’t at all cold but Tim wasn’t about to complain. Maybe this date wasn’t going to be a complete failure after all …

When the two of you arrived at the pizza joint and sat down in the familiar atmosphere you both started to relax and open up to each other.

“So why did you take me to that first place if we could have just come here to begin with?” You asked taking a bite of the heavenly piece of pizza. Tim sighed and took a slice for himself.

“I wanted to impress you so I asked one of my brothers for advice and he recommended that place. I should have just followed my instinct and taken you here. I hope I didn’t ruin any chance for this date to be considered a success?” He asked sheepishly.

“Tim, you don’t need to impress me. I already think you’re pretty tops.” You reassured him.

“Really?” He asked, unsure of himself.

“Of course. You don’t have to try so hard, Tim.” You said reaching across the table to hold his hand. He smiled fondly down at where your hands were joined.

“Don’t try so hard. Right. I can do that.” He laughed nervously and took a bite of his pizza to hide his growing grin.
