You were sitting on one of the many couches
at the X-Mansion, scrolling through something on your phone. A familiar
click-clacking drew nearer and nearer. You looked up. Tumnus was standing in
the doorway, holding a small book in his hands. He looked nervous, scared even.
He had been here a few weeks now, but was still adjusting to human life.

“What’s wrong, Tumnus?” you asked, your
expression soft.

“I…Um…I just, um- I found this,” He handed
you the book. You patted the seat beside you, and he hesitantly took a seat.

“The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, huh?”
you smiled softly.

“Is that…?”

“This is where you’re from,” you told him.

“I’m just a character in a book,”

“And a movie,” you told him. He looked
saddened by this. That he was nothing more than a fictional faun from a
fictional realm. “Tumnus, you’re real to me. And to everyone here. And your
world is certainly real. I should
know. I’ve been there.”

“You mean it?”

“I do,” you nodded, flipping the pages. “Do
you want me to read it to you?” he nodded. You opened to the first page and
cleared your throat. Tumnus relaxed on the couch, resting his head on your
shoulder.

Once
there were four children whose names were Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy
,”
you read. He smiled at the mention of his old friends. As you continued to read
the book, more and more kids started to assemble in the living room around the
couch, sitting on the floor in front of you.

They asked all sorts of questions, to Tumnus
especially, about the story and about Narnia, and about what it was like there.
He was very happy to tell them anything they wanted to know. He laughed and
smiled. It was almost the happiest you had ever seen him.

“How did you meet (Y/N)?” one of the little
girls asked. You had finished the book long ago, and now it had just become a
game of ‘ask the faun’.

“Well, it’s actually sort of funny,” Tumnus chuckled,
his hand finding its way into yours. “She just appeared out of nowhere wearing
the strangest armor I had ever seen. So naturally, I hid behind a tree.”

“You were
hiding from me!”

“Can you blame me?” he laughed, smiling. “But
then I came out from behind the tree to get a closer look and met the most
beautiful human- er, mutant– I’ve
ever seen in my entire life.”

“Nice save,” you poked his arm. The kids all
raised their hands.

“Yes?” Tumnus pointed to a little boy wearing
a blue shirt.

“What is
a faun?” he asked. Some of the others kids nodded as though they had been
wondering the same thing.

“Well, um, I…” Tumnus started, his goat legs
twitching a little bit. “Half-goat, half-man,”

“Yep,” you laughed, kissing his cheek.

“Do you ever miss Narnia?” another little
girl asked. Tumnus sighed.

“I lived in those woods for over a hundred
years. I do miss it, but…” he looked
at you, his blue eyes locking into his. “But some things…some things are worth
giving up a world for,”

“And what do we have here?” Charles rolled
into the room and took in the sight of all of the young kids in front of you
and Tumnus. “Story time?”

“Yeah,” you held up the book.

“Ah. Narnia. I wonder why,” he smiled
knowingly. Tumnus smiled sheepishly. “I remember reading that to a very young
(Y/N) (L/N) years ago.”

“I remember begging you to read it over and
over and over,” you blushed. Tumnus laughed.

“I remember that too,” Charles nodded. “And lots
of crying when that one was turned to
stone,”

“You cried for me?” Tumnus asked, smiling softly. “Before we even met?”

“Professor, you’re embarrassing me,” you
laughed, covering your now-red face in your hands. Tumnus and the professor
laughed together at your very, very red face. All of the kids laughed too.

“Awwww,”

“Shut up,” you laughed, elbowing the faun in
the chest lightly. It only made him laugh harder.

“Movie night!” Peter ran into the room,
holding up the Narnia DVD.

“Peter we watched that literally two weeks
ago,” you laughed.

“Not since faun-guy got here,” Peter pointed
out. He crossed his arms. “Come on, kiddos! Movie night!”

When you blinked, you were in the viewing
room, next to Tumnus.

“Aah! Oh. Oh,” Tumnus looked around. “Still
not used to that.”

“None of us are,” you laughed, shaking your
head. Peter passed out popcorn to all of the kids and started the movie.

“Didn’t we just-” Scott started.

“Shhhh,” Peter pressed a pale finger to his
lips. “Just enjoy it.”

“But Peter, ve haven’t seen zhe second one
yet,” Kurt held up the case.

“Shhhhh.”

“You’re not giving us a choice, are you?”
Jean asked.

“No. I’m not.”

***

Somewhere near the end of the movie, when
Lucy, Susan, and Aslan went to free the White Witch’s statues, Tumnus leaned in
to your ear, an amused smile on his face.

“Are you crying?” he asked softly. You wiped
away tears.

“It was bad enough when I didn’t know you,” you laughed, trails of
tears running down your cheeks. He pulled out a handkerchief and dried them up.
He folded it into your hand.

“Here. You need it more than I do,” He kissed
your cheek softly. You smiled at his shameless reference to himself.

“Oh, hush,” you shook your head.

“Be quiet! The battle’s coming up!” Peter
shushed you. You laughed, watching the end of the movie. You curled up to
Tumnus, enjoying having him so close to you. He ate a handful of popcorn,
enjoying the taste, but still not quite used to it.

“Is it good?” you asked. He nodded.

“Very. I’m just…getting used to it.”

***

The next morning at breakfast, a very
peculiar thing happened. While he was in the middle of a sentence, Tumnus
disappeared. Your eyes widened.

“Tumnus? Tumnus?!” You got up from your chair
and ran through the mansion. After you had searched just about everywhere,
Charles found you in a state of panic.

“(Y/N), what’s wrong?” he asked, searching
your mind.

“He’s gone! He disappeared! I can’t find him
anywhere!” You cried.

“Did you check in Narnia?” The professor
asked calmly, trying to be of comfort. You took a breath and teleported,
returning to the mansion after what seemed to be only seconds.

“He’s not there!” you cried, falling to your
knees. “I…I can’t lose him…”

“It’s all right,” Charles put a hand on your
shoulder. You couldn’t even look up at him. He looked so much like Tumnus…

“Uh, Professor?” Peter zipped into the room. “There’s
something you might want to see.”

***

“Oh…my…God…” you whispered, looking up at the
big blue box that had appeared in the courtyard. The door of the TARDIS opened
and a man with black hair, a tweed jacket, and a red bowtie walked out. “What
are you doing here?”

“Ah, (Y/N), I was hoping I’d find you.” The
Doctor said.

“Why are you here, Doctor?”

“Doctor who?”
asked Peter.

“Yes.” You nodded. “We’ve met.”

“I see that,” the Professor nodded. The
Doctor walked forward and shook his hand.

“Nice to meet you again, Professor. Always a
pleasure.”

“Have we met?” Charles asked.

“Oh. We will.
Sorry.” The Doctor shrugged. “(Y/N), come with me.”

“What’s the problem?”

“It’s Tumnus. I found him.”

***

You stepped out of the TARDIS, and walked forward.
It looked like a garden. A very nice, large garden. There was a statue. Tumnus.
His face was one of terror, and his hands were in front of his face. Your eyes
widened, tears streaming down your cheeks.

“No!” you shouted. “What happened?”

“I did,” a woman’s voice sounded behind you,
but you knew better than to turn around. Medusa. You covered your eyes. The
Doctor did the same.

“What did you do to him?!”

“What happens to anyone that wanders into my
garden.” she replied. You could hear the smile in her voice. “Well in his case,
anyone who was summoned. I couldn’t resist. I’m very fond of fauns…”

“Turn him back!” The Doctor shouted.

“You and I both know I can’t do that, Doctor.”
She hissed. You could hear the whisper of her snakes, traveling in a cloud
around her head. “You’d make a lovely addition to my garden.”

“Don’t come any closer.” you warned her.
Tears of anger were streaming down your face.

“Or what, girl? Don’t think I don’t know
where you’ve come from. So what’s your ability? Flight? Super speed? Sound
waves?”

“Oh no. None of that.” You squeezed your eyes
shut and held your hands in front of you, turning around to face her. “Something
much better.”

There was a bright flash, and a large mirror
appeared in your hands. She screamed, and suddenly the hissing stopped. You
timidly opened your eyes. She was frozen. The Doctor looked at what you had
done and smiled, giving you a pat on the back.

“Well done! I knew your powers must be coming
along by now, but that was brilliant!”

“Thanks,” the mirror disappeared and you turned
around to face Tumnus. He was still frozen. You hoped maybe killing Medusa
would bring him back, but it hadn’t. It wouldn’t. Watching this in the movie
was hard enough, but here, in front of you, in person…it was too much.

You took a breath, more tears threatening to
spill.

“You know what you have to do, don’t you?”
The Doctor asked.

“I do. Thanks. See you soon.”

“Yes. I will.” he said, before stepping into
the TARDIS and closing the door. The light above it glowed as it disappeared to
another time and place. You looked at Tumnus. The Doctor was right. You knew
what to do.

You squeezed your hand. With a small flash of
light, a wand appeared. A long, nice, wooden wand. 11 inches, carved from holly,
and it had a Phoenix feather core. Fresh from Olivander’s.

“All right Tumnus. This better work.” You
shook your head. “If you make me live without you…”

You stared at the wand in your hand and then
up at Tumnus. A gentle glow came from the tip of it. Slowly the color came back
to his face, and then crept downwards. The end of his scarf swung down, coming
free. He sucked in a huge breath, yelling out a little. He practically fell
into your arms, exhausted from the ordeal.

“Tumnus,” you said, holding him upright. He
looked up at you slowly with his blue, blue eyes. His arms wrapped tightly
around your waist and he cried and cried.

“I thought…” he pulled you tighter to his
chest. “It happened all over again. Worst than the first time,”

“It’s okay,” you whispered. “It’s okay now.”

“I love you,” he stated. “I…I figured I
should tell you that. I don’t say it nearly enough.” a smile tugged at his
lips. You brought your hands to the sides of his face, gently stroking his
cheeks with your thumbs. He closed his eyes for a moment before looking up at
you. You pulled his face closer, closing the gap between your lips. They were
soft, slow, full of passion.

When you pulled apart, you looked at him for
a few seconds before teleporting back to the mansion.

***

“So everything worked out then?” Charles
asked when you appeared at the streetlight with Tumnus. You nodded, wiping away
the remnants of your tears.

“Yeah. Everything worked out.” You smiled,
holding Tumnus’ hand.

“What happened?” Peter asked.

“I was turned to stone by Medusa because she
had a lack of fauns in her garden.”

“So I turned her to stone,” you said. “Using a mirror from another world.”

“So you’re basically a badass,” Peter
summarized.

“Yeah,” you shrugged. Tumnus laughed. “Basically.”
