James Conrad:I had two ideas but couldn’t pick. 1)James’ expert archaeologist/zoologist (what works best) wife gets hired to go to the island. She is very adventurous and doesn’t put up with James’ protectiveness-in fact she saves him just as much as he saves her.

James was starting to regret letting you come along with him.
it didn’t matter than you’d been hired yourself, given that you were a zoologist. Or the fact that, technically, he really didn’t have a say in if you took the job or not. He was your husband, yes, and that did prompt some say, but at the end of the day, you were your own woman. James didn’t control you or your choices.
But that didn’t mean he couldn’t think about it.
Since you’d crash landed on the island, you hadn’t given a care in the dangers that lurked around you. While you were cautious, you were also adventurous. And James constantly found himself calling out for you in fear that your adventuring would end up getting you killed.
While the rest seemed to find you quite amusing, James only found himself growing more and more concerned by the moment.
Any time James told you to stay back, you’d merely defied his wishes. Or say something back witty that would leave James speechless.
James loved you, that’s for sure. And your adventurous and witty personality had been what had caught his eye – but right now he was wishing you were anything but.
James had been so engrossed in his own thinking, that he hadn’t noticed the danger that awaited him. He merely continued to walk, the voices of the others calling for him drifting to the back of his mind. It wasn’t until he heard some unearthly cry did he snap out of his stupor and James looked up to find some in-human looking animal stood before him.
It’s claws were out, body tilted back as it went to swipe James across the chest, and surely injure him. Possibly kill him.
But before the creature could do so, multiple gunshots rang out and the creature lost it’s balance, falling backwards. James turned to find you, stepping forward with determination as you continued to shoot your gun, practically saving James from death.
When the creature had fully lost it’s balance, it fell back off the cliff it had been teetering on. James let out a breath he hadn’t known he’d been holding, his forehead clammy with sweat.
As you shoved your gun pack into your jeans, you turned to James with a cocky smirk. “Who needs to be more careful now?”
And oddly enough, James just chuckled. It was breathless, airy and as he did, he took a step towards you, wrapping an arm around your shoulder and bringing you against his chest. “Thank you,” he said sincerely, glancing down at you, “for saving my life.”
With a teasing grin, you nodded; “what would you do without me?”
