I rewatched dark world the other day and this Loki quote stuck out to me “This day, the next, a hundred years, it’s nothing! It’s a heartbeat. You’ll never be ready. The only woman whose love you prized will be snatched from you.” So my prompt request is that Loki x avenger reader are a couple and Thor reminds him of what he said about Jane all those years ago.

Thor is staring into the back of his head, and Loki growls.
“I know you’re there brother. What do you want.”
“Just looking at the two of you. You both seem quite content.”
Loki looks down at you, your head resting on his lap as he reads. You fell asleep a while ago, but he hasn’t been able to stop running his fingers through your hair.
“We are.” Loki says curtly.
“Do you remember what you said to me, so long ago? When I was with Ms. Foster?”
Loki bristles at his words, but says nothing.
“You said, and I quote you brother, ‘This day, the next, a hundred years, it’s nothing! It’s a heartbeat. You’ll never be ready. The only woman whose love you prized will be snatched from you’. You said that to me, brother, about my relationship with myself and Ms. Foster. What happened since then?” Thor moves to a chair across from you and Loki.
Loki snarls at him, shutting the book.
“Nothing happened. I met Y/N, and those words meant nothing anymore.”
“Something must have. Words do not disappear into thin air. You cannot act as if those words did not hold true to you at one point in time.” Thor sighs, running his face in exasperation before letting his hand drop and looking at the ground.
“Look, Loki. When I brought you to this tower, it was not a punishment, as I’m sure you thought and felt. Possibly you still feel that way, I cannot know. However, what I do know is that you may have found some true happiness here. But there is no place for both happiness and love, and those words to be inside your heart. I need to know whether or not you will hurt this mortal. Whether or not your heart is fully invested or not. Because I will not allow you to just drop her to the side like you have done to me and countless others.”
Thor looks up at Loki at this point, and Loki has dropped all signs of bitterness in his eyes in place of worry. Loki glances down at your still sleeping form, running a thumb over your cheek.
“I will not hurt her. I never realized love is a thousand heartbeats, not just one. She has them all. Losing her will be like losing my heart.” Loki murmurs, and Thor sighs contentedly.
They both sit in silence for a moment.
“…is your phone recording right now.”
“…maybe.”
Next thing you know you hear Loki chasing Thor around the Tower (after he slid you off his lap gently of course) and yelling for the ‘damned Midgaurdian spy’.
Good thing Karen recorded it for you anyway. It was a rare thing to hear Loki say such things.
