You wake up to the sunlight streaming in through the window, bright lights behind the darkness of your eyelids as you peel your eyes open. Jason’s still sleeping, chest rising and falling in a comfortable rhythm that gives you a temporary peace of mind.

Lingering in the warmth of the sun for a little longer, watching the serene expression splayed across his face, there’s no hint of the usual harsh exterior that usually permeates the air around him. Even drowsy, with sleepiness tugging at your eyes, you want to sear the image into memory.

This is what Jason looks like with his guard down, at his most vulnerable, and you are hopelessly, irrevocably in love with the man sleeping next to you.

You smile and Jason stirs, fingers twitching as if searching for your warmth. In the end you can’t help it, and decide to press a quick kiss to his cheek.

Eyes pop open as soon as your lips connect with his skin. And he immediately turns his head to meet your kiss head on with his own lips. It’s short, chaste, and unbelievably soft in a way that makes your heart flutter in your chest. You lean into the kiss and sigh when you break apart.

You stare into his eyes, still cloudy with sleep. There’s a barest hint of a smile on his face and it leaves you feeling giddy. His voice is rough. “Morning.”

Satisfaction thrums through your veins. You plop back onto the bed reveling in the morning sun and Jason’s crooked smile and the bit of hair that falls into his face.

“Good morning.”
