Surprise – (Kurt x Reader)

Summary: You plan a party for you and Kurt’s anniversary as a surprise and get help from Raven

You were placing a banner on one of the staircases in the library while balancing on a chair. You felt the chair tip as you begin to wobble until a flash of silver zoomed by and balanced it back for you. You look down to see Peter giving you a thumbs up and speeds away.

You were setting up a party for your boyfriend Kurt. What kind of party? It was your’s and Kurt’s one year anniversary! So what could have been a better idea than a party? Plus you thought Kurt deserved it, he was the most precious person in your life and you wanted to see his face light up when he sees the place. The one thing about it is that had to be a secret, since it was a surprise party.

Jean and Jubilee were in the library with you helping you decorate. Peter and Scott were in charge of bringing in supplies and Ororo was given the job of distracting Kurt. It was a difficult job since all Kurt wanted to do was see you on your anniversary. He almost teleported into the library to find you.

“(Y/n), I got some good news and bad news”, Ororo said dashing through the doors. You get off the chair and walk towards her to hear her out.

“Good news is Hank called in Kurt to do check ups on him some he’ll be occupied for a while, but he said when he’s done he going to look for you and nothing is going to stop him”, Ororo explained. You looked down bitting your knuckles trying to figure out what to do. You couldn’t leave to occupy him, you were in charge of the whole party.

“Whoa what’s going on in here?”, you turn to see Raven in the doorway looking around the room filled with decorations. Seeing Raven made you come up with a brilliant idea.

“Hey Raven, it’s just a little surprise party for Kurt, today is our one year anniversary”, you said gesturing to everything.

“Aww congrats on you guys, but are you even allowed to use the library for this?”,

“Yes, I made sure to ask the professor first”, you said as Raven was looking around for a book. You eyed her for a few seconds before you asked her a few questions.

“Hey, Raven, do you think you can morph into me?”, you asked tilting your head a little. She furrowed her eyebrows and said “Uh, yea”, with a bit of hesitation. She immediately change her appearance to yours. You amazed by her transformation. She even had the same strands of hair that were in your face. You leaned back observing her a little. “Wow… Is my nose really that big?”, you said jokingly. Raven laughed a little letting you know your nose is fine.

“Okay, now I have a request. Do you think you can pretend to be me and occupy Kurt? Please?”, you asked, cupping your hands together getting ready if begging was needed. Raven’s eyes widen hearing your request.

“Um, wait, what?”, she asked trying to grasped what you were saying.

“Kurt is trying to find me but I need to keep Kurt away from me while I finish setting up for the party”, you explained, “Just please pretend to be me for about an hour so he’d distracted, I’ll have Jean send you a message when we’re done”. Raven thinking about since it’d be awkward to pretend to be her son’s girlfriend, but she couldn’t tell you that. No one other than Charles and Hank knew about it. But she completely gave in from the puppy eyes you were giving her.

“Fine, but you owe me”, she said in a huff. You jumped and hugged her saying a million ‘thank you’s’. You gestured Ororo to take Raven to Kurt and waved them goodbye.

Raven and Ororo were already outside of Hank’s lab to see if Kurt was still there. Raven was a little anxious about doing this. As they were about to open the door, someone on the other side had pulled the door open. It had been revealed to be Kurt and a smile has been brought up on his face when he saw you- well actually Raven. “(Y/n)!”, he screeched excitedly as he snatched up Raven into an embrace since he has not seen you all day. 

Kurt leaned in with eyes closed and Raven immediately panicked. She quickly backed up avoiding his lips. Kurt looked at her with sorrow eyes wondering why his lovely girlfriend backed away from his kiss. Raven fidgeted with her fingers trying to come up with something, then Ororo had blurted out, “She’s sick!”. Both Kurt and Raven looked at her as she tried to further explain. “Y-yes! she’s sick, and you know she doesn’t want to get you sick either”, she said her voice cracking a little as she raised her shoulders. Kurt took a second but bought it giving Raven a sigh of relief.

“Alright, thank you Ororo, for bringing me my love~, we have plans to attend to”, Kurt said grabbing Raven’s hand and leaving as soon as he can.”Wait-where are we going?”, Raven asked being dragged off as Kurt was too excited to take her to his destination. “You’ll see liebe”, he said in a teasing tone as his thumb was brushing over her hand several times. Raven felt the pit of her stomach upset feeling like the plan wouldn’t work for so long. How long could she go pretending to be you?

They both step outside of the mansion to the huge backyard where several of the students were at the moment. Throughout their entire walk, Raven had been observing Kurt’s subtle, small actions. He occasionally squeezed her hand for comfort especially when he had a concerned look on his face. Also during their walk she could tell he was staring at her because he would sometimes trip over nothing or bump into something that was clearly there.

Eventually they both stop at a huge tree where no one was really nearby. Kurt turns towards Raven and grabs both of her hands into his own palms.

“I have been waiting all day to do this, mein schatz”, he said in the purest voice with his thick accent. He leads her with one hand to the other side of the tree. There was a picnic already set up. The blanket was covered in roses petals and there were sweet smelling candles surrounding the area. Even though the date was not set up for her, Raven was speechless. No one of her past relationships had done this for her, but her son sure knew what he was doing. Kurt again cupped Raven’s hands and looked deep in her eyes.”Happy Anniversary, prinzessin”, he whispered and placed a light kiss on her forehead 

Kurt lead her down with him to sit and get some stuff out of the basket. Kurt looked at her with a sly grin and began taking something out. “Don’t look”, he said and she immediately closed her eyes. Seconds later, Raven felt something light on her head. She opened her eyes and grabbed what was placed on her. At first it looked like a bunch of leaves and stems mushed together, but took a closer look. It was actually a crown made of flowers nearby the meadows. Raven looked at it and felt completely overwhelmed. All she could wish was that you could see this for yourself. She looked up at Kurt with wide eyes and speechless. Kurt looked up at her with a nervous smile and blush crept up on his cheeks. “Do you like it?” his voice was a little shaky. 

Just when Raven was about to say something a voice was ringing in her head. It was Jean messaging her to bring Kurt over. Raven placed the crown down next to her and got up. She grabbed Kurt’s hand and began taking him back to the mansion.

“(Y/n)! Where are we going?”,the poor boy questioned as he was tripping over his own two feet with the pace Raven was going. She didn’t answer him, she just kept going with a serious yet determined look on her face. “Wait- (y/n), what about the picnic?”. Raven stopped in front of the door of the library. Where the real (y/n) is. She turns to look at Kurt and lets go of his hands.

“I’m sure (y/n) will love it”, her voice going quiet. Kurt furrows his eyebrows wondering why would you say that? Raven opens the door and a bright light was released from the room as everyone in there shouted “SURPRISE!!”

Kurt looked around the room astonished. It was party set up for him. He had never felt so grateful. He looked up at one of the banners reading Happy Anniversary Kurt & (Y/n). He looked over to who he thought was you to see Raven transform back to herself. He realized why you acted so strange today and looked around for you.

As if on queue, you rush into his arms almost tackling him to the ground. You grab his face and pepper kisses all over him as he laughs at how affectionate you were. When you were done, Kurt kept his hands around you stroking his hand through your hair.

“Happy Anniversary, handsome~”

“Did you do this?”, he smirked at you obviously knowing the answer. All you did was smile widely and covered your face into Kurt’s chest hearing a muffled ‘yes’. He laughed again and rubbed his face into your hair in-taking your scent.

You look up and see Raven in the doorway again and run up to hug her. “Thank you so much”, you tightly squeezed her. “No problem it was really nothing”, she started after you let her go. “You’re a lucky girl, just wait and see”. You raised an eyebrow and wondered what you missed out. 

Raven looked around to see where Kurt was and spotted him when he gave an awkward wave. She called him over to you guys and went by your ear and said “And don’t worry there’s only one thing you owe me”. You looked at he waiting for her to finish her statement. “Just keep him happy, okay”. You just nod your head and started smiling. Kurt grabbed you hand and kissed it as he took you off to go enjoy the party.
