  • How angsty are you feeling about writing for Tony stark? I have one; an apprentice!reader X Tony (platonic, age wise she’s a few years older than Peter) in which the reader helps to make upgrades to his suit and something happens in the lab be it a mini explosion or she gets a body part injured from the sharp metal plating, and because something went wrong in the lab she panics and thinks she’s disappointed Tony but he’s used to things like that happening, so he just comforts her 🙂

The blast had hit you directly in the chest, knocking you back.

It all had happened so quickly. One minute, you’d been doing some repairs and upgrades to Tony’s Ironman suit. And the next you felt yourself practically flying backwards, slamming against the far wall with a loud groan. Your ears rang because of the explosion and you felt your vision blur from the force of it all.

Coughing, you raised your arm, covering it over your mouth as you tried to push yourself up to your feet. But the moment you did, you felt a sharp pain run through your entire left leg. With a cry of pain, you slumped back against the wall, moving your gaze down to your leg where you saw a piece of the metal plating from Tony’s suit sticking out of both your leg and ankle.

“Shit,” you cursed, eyes narrowed in discomfort as you tried to assess the injury to the best of your ability. It wasn’t easy, especially given you knew nothing about how to deal with a situation like this. So, with a deep sigh and a whimper of pain, you let your head fall against the wall, surveying the damage you’d done to Tony’s lab.

Not only was a huge chunk of Tony’s suit missing, but smoke filtered the air because of the explosion. Shards of metal were everywhere and electricity sparked from within his suit.

Jesus, you really messed up.

You felt your entire body tense when you heard footsteps, two pairs, and your name being called worriedly. You tried to, once again, push yourself up to your feet in a desperate attempt to try and clean up the mess you’d made to the best of your ability, but it was to no avail. As soon as Tony and Pepper arrived in his lab, you fell back against the ground with a cry of pain, slumping against the wall.

Tony and Pepper’s eyes filtered across the room, lips parting in bafflement. And you absolutely hated the way Tony’s eyes fell with discouragement at the sight of one of his suits ruined.

It was when you sighed did both Tony and Pepper remember you were here, and the moment Tony saw the state you were in, he ran to your side.

“Oh God,” you heard Pepper gasped, voice cracking with worry; “Y/N!”

She moved to run towards you, like Tony had, but he bellowed; “careful! Stay there,” he warned, making his way carefully through the many shards of metal over to you.

The moment Tony reached you, you practically felt like you could curl up into a ball and cry. You were so embarrassed and disappointed in yourself for making such a silly mistake and ruining everything.

“Hey, kid,” Tony called, hand falling on your leg to observe the wound. “You okay?”

You didn’t say anything, just shut your eyes as your lips begun to tremble.

“Y/N,” Tony called once again, worry flooding his gaze. “Hey, you okay? Y/N!”

“I’m sorry,” you whispered, finally opening your eyes to meet his own. You watched as his lips parted, tears streaming down your cheeks as you mentally berated yourself. “I screwed everything up,” you huffed, “I ruined your suit, your lab, and it’s my fault. I’m-”

“It’s okay, kid,” Tony interrupted, his voice soft with the utmost sincerity. Your lips parted in bafflement, eyes widening as you met his own.

“Wh-What?”

“I’m not mad,” he shrugged, glancing at Pepper briefly, “i’m more worried than anything.”

“Oh,” you mumbled, turning to your leg, “it’s okay. It doesn’t hurt that much.”

“It’s gonna hurt when I pull it out.”

“Wait, wh-”

A scream left your lips as Tony ripped the larger slate of metal out of your leg, barely giving you breathing time before pulling the one in your ankle out. Your hands slapped against the floor next to you, bracing yourself as you panted heavily, your heart practically pounding against your chest.

“Tony!”

“She’s okay,” Tony called, nodded, “she’s all good.” Turning to you, he pushed himself up to his feet, his arm coming around your shoulders to help pull you up. “Come on,” he soothed, “we should get this checked out.”

“For God’s sake, Tony, you could’ve done more damage.”

“It’s okay,” you whispered, nodding at Pepper. Turning your head to Tony, you let it fall against his chest, appreciating the moment of warmth you felt flood through you.

You missed the shocked, but content look that passed over Tony’s face and the smile that fell on Pepper’s lips as she regarded the both of you.
