thank you love! and this totally reminds me of the little mermaid (my fave disney princess) so this sort of took a life of it’s own. enjoy!
You can’t help but think how eerily familiar the whole situation is. Not in a creepy way, but in a is this really happening kind of way.Â
“You’re not going to kill me out here, are you?” You ask and Bucky just smiles, the moonlight shining brightly down on the both of you. He looks so happy, so content, so fucking cute in that flannel, but you couldn’t help but be a little sassy towards him.
“No, darling,” he says as he rows you two on the lake, arms working effortlessly. “Can’t I just be romantic for my girl?”
You squint your eyes at him to be sassy, but you really just wanted an excuse to stare at him, look at him up and down. He looked really good in that flannel–top two buttons undone and sleeves rolled up to his elbows, exposing his glorious forearms. You had gifted it to him last winter and it seemed like he brought it out whenever he had the chance.Â
The crickets are the only things that break the silence along with the oars breaking the surface of the water as Bucky rows, and finally it clicks.
“How many times have you watched The Little Mermaid this week?”
The laugh that Bucky releases is loud, boisterous, happy. It warms your heart in the cool breeze of the summer night. “Okay, so maybe I borrowed the idea–”
“Stole–”
“Borrowed,” he clarifies, the moonlight making his eyes twinkle as he smirks at you. He pulls his arms back, shifting the boat back and then leans forward, hands resting in his lap as he lets the current take you for a moment. You lean forward out of habit, out of a need to be close to him. “But isn’t this romantic?”
You don’t even notice the beauty of the wilderness around you, the moon high in the sky, the cool breeze as it floats around you. All you see is Bucky in his flannel, smile wide and blue eyes shining as he looks back at you.
“Yeah,” you answer, smiling softly as you lean forward to close the distance between you. You press your lips against his in a sweet kiss before leaning back, entranced by that smile of his. “It is.”
