Author’s Note: Hi! Thank you so much for requesting! I had a lot of fun with this one! Mind you, I sort of made the boyfriend a lot sweeter whose a mama’s boy because I feel like he’d be a tattoed sweetheart. Enjoy!
It had been about six months since the two of them had first started dating. They had met at one of the local coffee shops that were downtown away from the Tower. At the time he had been struggling with his computer since it refused to connect to the wifi and, considering her uncle was the Bruce Banner, she knew exactly how to tamper with it. After that, the two of them just got to talking.
His full name was Jeremiah Smith, he was going to school in New York because he was originally from North Carolina. He’s an only child and an art student, specializing with tattoo artistry since his arms were littered with the magic, but his cousin had done those instead. Y/N had been in awe of the artwork. According to Jeremiah, each of them were a symbol of something important in his life. The hearts were for his mother, who apparently called him every morning and night just to make sure her son was eating right and doing okay. The arrows through each heart were for his father, who apparently worked three jobs at the same time just to afford the tuition for him to go to school in New York like he always wanted. Jeremiah’s heart beat the most for his parents, and Y/N absolutely loved that since she could relate with how she felt with her family.
Well, since then, the two of them kept going to the same coffee shop, both in hope to see the other and get to talking again. He had acted like a regular human being when he learned Y/N’s real identity of being Tony Stark’s only daughter. He treated her just the same. After the fifth time of seeing each other in the coffee shop, Jeremiah had finally blurted out that he wanted to take Y/N to a proper dinner for their first ever date. Y/N eagerly agreed, ecstatic that he felt the same spark she did.
The date went as perfect as dates could go, and their relationship only blossomed from there. Y/N had only felt like this once before for another person, but they had been using her with hopes of gaining her father’s favor, so getting another chance at true love was all Y/N wanted, especially since she knew that Jeremiah wanted the same thing. She knew he would never do such a thing to her. In fact, on their seventh date she had told the story of her past relationship and he had been livid that someone treated her like that, that someone would use someone as amazing as her just for her father(his words, not hers).
Of course, throughout this entire magical journey, the Avengers and her father were none the wiser that Y/N was even dating. They hadn’t an absolute clue that she found someone new, always making sure that paparazzi scouting for the Stark daughter were nowhere to be found and that her social media and real life were kept separate. Y/N was definitely not ashamed of Jeremiah. He was very important to her and she’d tell that to anyone, but she wanted this aspect of her life to stay in the small bubble for just a little longer. The relationship being just about the two of them was incredibly nice and she wanted to ride that trope for as long as she could.
Unfortunately, that wouldn’t willingly be for long.
It was a gloomy Tuesday, the Tower echoing the aura of the outside: it was eerily quiet and completely empty other than Y/N. The team had disappeared all for separate missions Nick issued for them. Jeremiah had been to the tower only once before, and even then Y/N had to sneak him in so her father wouldn’t notice. But now that Y/N had no worries, it was the perfect day to sit back with her boyfriend and cuddle without fearing of someone seeing them.
Lifting her phone as she sat comfortably on the couch, she waited to hear his calming voice before she spoke, “Hey, wanna come over?”
“On a Tuesday, love?” Jeremiah’s light chuckle made her heart flutter. “Actually, that sounds perfect. I have no homework, and I miss seeing your beautiful face. Is the family home?”
“No, no…uh…they’re all out doing what they do best, and I’m lonely, so…” Y/N shrugged.
“Actually, it’s perfect timing because I have a huge surprise for you,” Jeremiah’s voice turned suddenly excited. “I’ll be there in about half an hour. Love you!” He hung up and Y/N squealed ecstatically, holding the phone to her heart as she fell over onto her side on the couch. She didn’t know if she was technically in love, really. They said it constantly now, and it was seven months into their relationship, so perhaps it was right… She just never knew, but Jeremiah felt right. He felt like the perfect guy for her.
He was smart, considerate, caring, protective, funny, and loved her.
About half an hour later, she heard JARVIS’ voice suddenly ring, “Miss Stark, a male has arrived. Should I let him in?”
Y/N sat up and looked at the screen that displayed the front sidewalk of the tower, seeing Jeremiah stand awkwardly there with his hoodie on to protect himself from the rain. She smiled, “Yes, please let him in! Buzz him up, too, for the elevator.”
“Yes, Miss Stark,” JARVIS replied, complying for Jeremiah to walk in.
A moment later, the elevator doors beeped and the doors slid open, Y/N laughing as she threw herself into his arms, Jeremiah happily welcoming her as he pressed his lips softly to her own for a greeting, holding her up since most of her weight had melted into his. He still had his jacket on, despite being inside.
“Okay, as much as I’d like to continue and stand here kissing your soft lips,” he pecked them again for emphasis, “I really wanna show you my surprise.”
“Is it your penis?”
“What? No!”
“Oh, okay.”
He stepped back and slowly unzipped his jacket, giving her the better view as he slipped it off. He was wearing a sleeveless shirt that had his college’s logo on the front, but that’s not what he was showing her. Once his jacket was completely off, she was finally able to see what was sitting on his right arm just above a heart with an arrow through it.
“Is that…my name?”
“Yeah,” Jeremiah smiled. “I know, I know…it’s stupid for people to do stuff like that because they never know if the relationship will really be forever or something, but…I’ve never felt this way about anyone. My heart beats for my parents constantly, but…it’s beating for you, too. When we’re apart all I can think about is seeing you again. They say if you’re in love, you’re supposed to miss when your other half isn’t there, and…I always miss you.”
Y/N stood there, stock still as she continued to stare at his arm in bewilderment. It was in cursive with a tiny star above one of the letters.
“It’s ‘cause your last name is Stark,” Jeremiah mumbled awkwardly. “Star is in Stark…get it?”
Y/N’s mouth shook for a moment, before she finally lunged forward and threw her arms around his shoulders, kissing him repeatedly over and over again as she mumbled her love against his lips, telling him he was it for her, too, that he was everything she ever wanted or ever would want in this world.
If only that moment could last forever.
“Y/N M/N Stark, what the hell are you doing?” a voice made them jump apart, both paling visibly as they turned to see they were no longer the only ones in the room. Standing shoulder to shoulder were earth’s mightiest heroes, all dirty and tattered from their mission, but otherwise okay. However, all of them seemed to be frozen in shock upon seeing their beloved Y/N kissing a complete stranger, a tatted stranger a that. “Who the hell is this?” It was her father who had been yelling.
“Dad?” Y/N squeaked.
“Y/N get behind me,” Steve suddenly ushered, approaching her quickly and shoving her behind him. Bucky took his initiative and stood at Y/N’s side, glaring at Jeremiah as though he wanted to set him on fire.
“Who the hell are you?” Natasha’s snarl made Y/N turn to see her calmly walk up to Jeremiah, but he wasn’t stupid enough to underestimate her. In fact, he paled even more than before, petrified. “Did you force yourself on her, huh? Do you know who the hell we are? We’re her family, we make sure delinquents like you don’t see the light of day, and to see you putting your lips on her?”
“Wh-What? Aunt Nat, no!” Y/N protested, trying to get around Steve, but he moved so she couldn’t take a step. “He’s not…he’s my boyfriend!”
“L-Listen here, dude!” Peter suddenly growled, completely ignoring her as he approached him, still suited up. “Y/N is like my sister! If you put your hands on her-wait, what?”
“Yes!” Y/N exclaimed huffily, ducking underneath Steve’s outstretched arm and standing at Jeremiah’s side, placing her arm around him. “He’s been my boyfriend for seven months now! Jesus Christ, guys!”
“Wait a second, we’ve all been wandering here for longer than seven damn months, how the hell did you manage holding a whole ass relationship?” Scott asked.
Y/N sputtered before she turned to her father, who looked livid. “Missy, you have a lot of explaining to do…”
