Hi! Could I request some headcannons for Shinsou and Todoroki with an American s/o that’s usually confident and direct, but is self-conscious about being a foreigner?

Hitoshi Shinso

Shinso always saw you as you showed yourself, super confident and direct. Watching you in training was always exciting enough to keep him on his toes. And maybe that’s why he was so drawn to you. A confident person to balance out his self doubt.

But when you voiced your self consciousness of being a foreigner, Shinso was almost shocked. Of course there’s always at least one thing someone is insecure about. But being American? Definitely didn’t see that coming.

“… Why’s that?” He asked you after you spoke up about it.

“It’s just sometimes hard to fit in, you know? I don’t have a full grasp on Japanese language yet so I stutter a lot. I left my family so I could come to this hero school. I just… Don’t feel like I’m enough…”

Shinso was almost speechless. He stared at you and simply shook his head. When you gave him a questioning look, he straightened himself out and spoke.

“You being foreign just makes you stronger than you already are.”

“H-Huh?”

“You said it yourself, you left a lot of friends and family to come to this prestige hero school. And guess what, you got in!” He reached out to grab your hands off of your lap, “And so what if you can’t grasp the language? The fact that you’re learning it at all is amazing. So so amazing.” Shinso placed your hands on his cheeks.

“Listen to me. You’re so very strong and I couldn’t ask for a better partner. Thank you for coming to this school. If you didn’t, I may have never met the love of my life…”

You felt tears prick at the corners of your eyes. “That was so cheesy!”

“Aw c’mon. You love it.”

Shoto Todoroki

Ever since the first day you began training with the class, Todoroki was enamored by you. You had such an amazing personality that just screamed hero, and you always fought for what you wanted. He was amazed.

He felt like he found his soulmate with you, and Todoroki couldn’t care less that you were American. He actually found it incredibly interesting.

But, the same couldn’t be said for you. Todoroki had asked you about the topic due to your sour attitude towards the topic of you being foreign. When you told him about it, he wasted no time asking about it.

“What’s the problem?”

“Everything really! From struggling with the language to me leaving just to study abroad, it piles up to me just hating it…”

Todoroki gave a minute to process this before going back in. He leaned forward and looked you straight in the eyes, “I don’t see you as a weak person for being in a new area. In fact, I see you as a strong and brave person for even being here. You took a leap and you stuck the landing. Perhaps with a bit of a fumble, but you’ll recover. And you’ll be an amazing hero.”

A smile tugged on your lips, causing Todoroki to give you a small smile in return.

“Thank you, Shoto.”
