Omg I love jealousy prompts. Green is such an ugly color, but sometimes it’s fun to see our boys show a bit of insecurity. Comfort is always fun to write. I hope you like :3 Thank you for the request!
There was something in the way you sat up a bit straighter when it was that Canadian douchebag’s turn to skate that made Yuri uneasy. The uneasiness turned to anger when you visibly become interested in Jean-Jacques Leroy’s routine. Yuri allowed a scowl to creep onto his face while he watched you.
The way your eyebrows lifted and the corners of your mouth turned up was a dead giveaway to what was on your mind. Your full attention was set below on the ice, where JJ skated to his theme song, with his fans chanting along.
You began humming along to JJ’s theme song, and Yuri became visibly agitated. He sat back with a huff. He crossed his arms and glared at the boy on the ice below.
On the ice, JJ missed a jump and fell, causing the entire audience to gasp in sympathy. Yuri’s eyes were drawn to you when you covered your mouth with one hand, eyes wide in shock from JJ’s fall. You looked upset for him.
For Yuri, that was the last straw. It was clear that you rooted more for JJ than for him. He felt his heartbeat in his ears when he stood up, seething with anger.
“I never thought you would turn on me, too,” Yuri sneered, kicking his seat. “Let me know how his performance ends, (Y/N).” There was venom in his voice, and the way it coated your name unsettled you greatly. You watched as your boyfriend stormed out of sight, leaving the rink.
You chased your boyfriend down, nearly stumbling over your own feet as you raced down the arena’s stairs. You darted through the vacant halls that line the outside of the arena in a dead sprint. You followed that head of blonde hair relentlessly. Yuri was in the lobby of the building when you finally caught up to him, your chest heaving.
“Yuri,” you panted, resting your hands on your knees and hunching over slightly. You tried your best to speak while you caught your breath. “What the hell? What are you so mad about? Did something happen?”
“Don’t act like you don’t know what you did,” he spat, turning away from you. You stood up straight and put a hand on his shoulder, but he didn’t face you.
“What on earth is this all about?” you asked again, but more demanding this time. “You can’t just storm out and not tell me what I did! You can’t—!”
You were cut off when Yuri spun around and held the sides of your face in an iron grip. You looked into his eyes, expecting to see fury in those emerald green irises. Instead, you saw sadness and regret. You allowed yourself to relax in his hold and waited for an explanation.
Yuri took a deep breath. “Why do you support that asshole?” he asked. The tone of his voice was soft; he sounded so disappointed. “What makes you like him so much?”
You stared into his eyes while his words sunk in. It took a moment, but you understood the true meaning behind his outburst.
He was jealous. Yuri was jealous of JJ.
You sighed and brought your hands to hold the backs of his, and you guided them to rest around your waist instead. You placed your arms around his neck and hugged him close so your noses were touching.
“Yuri, he’s a good skater. He’s very good.” You chuckled softly, bringing your thumbs to brush against Yuri’s cheeks. He was blushing. “But you’re better. You’re my favorite figure skater, actually. Best in the world!”
“So you’re not in love with JJ?” Yuri asked for clarification. It sounded ridiculous coming out of his mouth.
“In love? With JJ?!” You forced a laugh, making sure Yuri knew how crazy he sounded at that moment. “Yuri, I love you. I admire JJ as a skater, but you’re so much more! He’s shit compared to you, okay?”
Yuri didn’t seem convinced, so you pressed your lips against his. You kissed him for a long time, taking his breath away with a silent assurance that you meant what you said. You were his alone; no one else’s. When you pulled away, Yuri’s eyes no longer looked sad; he looked content.
“I’m yours, Yuri. You’re my favorite. Maple Syrup Boy doesn’t exist in our realm, okay? It’s just you and me, I promise.” You sealed your words with a peck to his nose.
“‘Maple Syrup Boy?’” he repeated with a laugh, obviously in better spirits. “That’s a good one.”
You put and arm around Yuri and guided him back to the rink’s seating. “I’m very lucky that I get to sit next to my favorite figure skater. Not many people get to do that.” You gave Yuri’s side a squeeze.
“Damn right you are.”
