The kittens were a very talkative bunch. Chattering away about literally anything with one another, and even more so when you appeared in the room. Their little chirps and squeals were always amusing, even when you were trying to pay attention to what you were doing and feed them. It wasn’t until you heard a familiar name that you tuned in to what was being said about you.
“Shinsou brought treats!” Obviously, sometimes there wasn’t a translation for certain words or phrases they used, so the ideas they were communicating were sometimes jumbled and difficult to decipher, but these two in particular were good at communicating with you. You wondered if it was because you and Shinsou talked to them more than the others.
“Not now! Then!” Another kitten responded, stretching down from its place on the ledge above. You turned to face the black cat that had spoken first.
“He is not supposed to do that.” You informed her, and she yawned before turning her attention to the small fluffy ball you’d dropped into the cage earlier.
“He speaks about pretty girl.” The tabi leapt down, coming to sit at the front of the cage with bright, interested eyes.
“Thinks she is kind—” The black cat interrupted. “He brings treats and pats!” You couldn’t help but snicker at the adorable change of subject as the black kitten attacked the other, biting at her ear. You focused on your task, snickering about their chatter as you tried not to wonder who the girl he spoke about with the kittens was.
