You literally chose the most nervous boy out there. Progress who? When it comes to you, he’s a shy one, and it’s painfully obvious.
He’ll try his best to make you feel like he isn’t ashamed of you! This small issue might arise when he seems intent on avoiding physical contact with you in public, but he’s just too scared to initiate it with you and gets embarrassed easy. It’s not like he has experience in being intimate with someone, you know.
Even though it isn’t likely he’ll put his arm around your shoulders, he shows his affection in public through hanging around you closely and frequently. It’s less of him consciously making the decision to place himself in your personal space, and more of him just being so enamored with you that he naturally gravitates toward you.
You might not detect a difference, but everyone else can see how excited Midoriya is every time he’s around you. When you speak, he listens with his hands on his knees as he sits up straight, and when you look away, his lovestruck expression causes CAVITIES.
In private, though, Midoriya is a tad more willing to gather you up in his arms and hold you close. He’ll do this with a great deal of mental self-hype and once he does, his smile is shaky and he’s blushing just enough to make his freckles POP.
Once you get Midoriya started on his rants about heroes, he won’t stop, but he’ll do that with everyone. The difference is, is that he’ll show you his journals of notes to accompany his talking. He hardly shows them to anyone and tends to keep them in his hands only, but he trusts you and wants to share his favorite interests with you, which include the great number of notebooks he’s kept on heroes since he was younger.
He feels bold sometimes and might spring for a CHEEK KISS. It’s tense, a bit shaky, a little rough on the landing, but it’s all around perfect (like him).
How he likes to be shown affection
Hold! His! Hands!
He’s a fan!
He likes it when your softer (probably) hands grab his and lead him around by them; he likes it when you take his hands into your and play with his fingers; he likes it when you admire his hands and trace the scars with a gentle touch. He probably would have been just as weak for this without the scars, because he really didn’t touch anyone like this (no, his mom doesn’t count).
He likes cheek kisses? So return the favor. With any luck, you’ll be better equipped to handle giving them out, so whenever your lips press against his freckled cheek after he kisses you, he’ll be over the moon and think you’re the best thing since sliced bread.
While he’s working on getting braver, and its been happening almost unconsciously as he grows as a hero, he will always love it when you come to his aid, whether in the face of a villain or a bully (Bakugou).
It really reminds him that, yeah, this relationship goes both ways, and that you truly care about him. He might not let it get to far with you defending his honor, and he will step in, but the smile on his face and the look in his eye afterward lets you know just how much he appreciated that action, and how much he appreciates you.
Midoriya has self-esteem issues and it’s from his history as the odd-man-out. He loves it when you take the take to validate him verbally, and with small romantic gestures (that he’ll make an attempt to mirror someday), and some skinship.
“I love you, Izuku.”
“You’re my hero, Izuku. I knew you could do it.”
“I’m so proud of you, sweetheart.”
Ooh man, he’s blushing so hard, but his heart’s fluttering and his limbs feel as light as feathers. Honestly, however you choose to show your affection, Izuku won’t mind.
