Alma was very good at keeping his past from you, but chances are you overhead him talking to Kanda about it when he thought you weren’t around.
It’s not that he wanted to keep secrets from you, he just didn’t want to make you sad! And oh boy, did it make you sad.
He sees you and smashes that mofo panic button, jumping up and hurrying over to try to cover up what he just said, but he eventually gives in and tells you everything. Kanda quietly excuses himself.
He’s devastated you had to find out this way–or that you had to find out at all.
Here he is, comforting you, and you feel a little silly because shouldn’t it be the other way around? And he sort of feels wrong for comforting you after the shit he did.
He assures you that things have been much better for him and that he’s gotten better ever since he became a full-fledged Exorcist. He admits that he hates the Order, but he loves you, and nothing will change that, no will he ever endanger you.
He will understand if you’re a little (or a lot) afraid of him. He’s just, you know, absolutely bloody terrified of that.
It’s a hard thing to imagine having to do, but if you reassure him–even if it’s just a little bit–he may start crying from relief.
He genuinely loves you so much and he would never hurt you. Which he blabbers into your shoulder when you hold him.
