You grew up hardly ever seeing your father. For the holidays he would fly out to see you only for the day, showering you with gifts you didn’t need and weren’t sure you wanted and for your birthdays you would get a card with a check. In letters he told you over and over again that he was excited to have you over for the Summer time but whenever Summer turned around, your mother had planned an extravagant trip out of the country and always took you with her.
After your seventeenth birthday, your mother started seeing another man very seriously and when the next Summer came, she took her trip with him rather than you and as a result, you had been sent to your father’s.
