Warnings: Fluff.
The faint sound of drizzling rain outside, the warm weight in your lap, and the softness under your hand, was enough to leave your thoughts in a pleasant lull. You knew you should be getting up to have a shower, but you were so comfortable.
A soft deep hum sounded out quietly from the vampire draped over your lap, and your attention was pulled back to him. His cheek was pressed onto your thigh, thick arms wrapped firmly around your waist to keep you in place. His body was far too long, even for this large couch, his legs awkwardly positioned as he laid on his stomach, having no intention of going anywhere. He reminded you of a cat, draped over the furniture in a way that should have been uncomfortable, and yet looking so utterly content.
Your lips pulled into a slight smile as you peered down at him, continuing to gently run your fingers through the thick luxurious black hair. He seemed to melt with every gentle stroke, the occasional pleased hum or sigh slipping from his lips, as your nails dragged lightly over his scalp.
It was rare to see him like this, so utterly content. Though these moments had been slowly starting to increase in frequency. The sight of him so relaxed, that severe haunted expression replaced by one of utter contentment, was one you would always cherish.
Your motions must have paused too long, because he stirred slightly, red eyes peeking out from beneath long dark lashes. A large hand curled around your own, dwarfing it as he gently drew it to his lips. His scruff scratched lightly at your skin as he pressed a warm kiss to your palm, red eyes searching yours, questioning silently if you were alright.
Smiling softly, you gave a simple nod in answer, and were graced with a small soft smile of his own. He gently squeezed your hand, and then released it, wrapping his arms back around you as he settled in again. Heart fluttering, you resumed your gentle motions, relishing in the silkiness of his hair, and the simple intimacy of the moment. His back rose and fell with a deep content sigh, and your smile widened a little more.
A shower could wait for a little while longer.
