but what began as the routine lunch to catch up with your father became frequent visits
because one profiler really caught your eye
and you, his
now your dad, one of the top profilers in the country, is not a stupid man, so he caught on quite fast
he saw you and Reid’s awkward flirtations and witty banter
and the protective father within him wanted to put an end to it, however he noticed how happy Reid made you
Reid is not surprisingly very bashful around you so it takes him a hot minute to even work up the courage to ask you out
but when he does he goes straight to your father to ask for permission
“sir, Rossi, um…if you don’t know I’ve taken quite a liking to your daughter…I mean, uh, I’d like to know if it’d be alri-, no um….you see sir, y/n and I…”
“Reid, do you think I’m blind? Go ask her out right now.”
Rossi would get over protective of Reid during cases because he knows how much he means to you
Your relationship would be very serious
Reid would spend the holidays with you guys
he’d try to help with the cooking for thanksgiving but Rossi would practically chase him out of the kitchen since he set the fire alarm off three times
and he’d always get the best gifts for you guys
Rossi would give you the talk
and not the birds and the bees, but how dangerous the job can be and to be prepared for anything
Rossi would act disapproving but he secretly couldn’t be happier for you guys
the whole team would ship you two and help you out with anything
even thought Rossi would act tough and disapproving at times, sometimes he’d be blunt and say “so when are you going to give me genius grandchildren??”
Rossi would bond with Reid and take him hunting (which spencer would hate and be awful at) or play chess with him
they’d exchange books and sometimes you’d even third wheel to them and they’re long philosophical talks and theories
before you know it though you’d be one little happy family
