Komui is almost insufferable while he’s trying to impress you. Well, not so much to you, but to the rest of the science department that has to put up with him.
He’s going to break out his mad robot building skills. Luckily, Reever finds him before he can finish yet another giant Komlin and quickly pulls the plug on that plan. So he builds smaller ones that have one single purpose in mind and can’t really cause that much destruction.
If you mention that he should clean his desk or do some work, you’ll be damned if you come back and don’t find him doing either of those things. He wants to lowkey show that he cares about your opinions, no matter how much he hates having to clean his workplace. Plus, if it’s clean, that means you’ll be more inclined to stay there with him.
Allen becomes more gentlemanly around you. He’ll compliment you more often and go out of his way to say or do nice things for you.
He’s likely to show off during training or fights, so long as they aren’t too serious. He will also show off his cards and cheating skills by absolutely destroying Lavi at the game, practically robbing him of the clothes on his back.
He’s less likely to fight with Kanda, albeit not by much, when you are around. He doesn’t want to seem immature around you, but Kanda has a way of pushing his buttons the wrong way.
Lavi is the biggest show off. Whether it’s during training, a battle, just joking around, whatever it may be, he has to show off while doing it.
He flirts a lot. Like, he flirted with you before because that’s just his personality, but now it’s more frequent and more genuine. You may just be imagining things, but it seems like the amount of flirting he does with everyone pails in comparison, or slows down altogether.
He’s 100 times more affectionate now. However, he also sort of seems unsure. He wants to show you that if you were with him he’d be very observant and accepting of your needs, but doesn’t want to seem pushy and scare you away.
Kanda really isn’t one to try to impress you. Or, at least, that’s what he tells himself. He doesn’t really do it a lot, or notice when he does it.
A lot more intense during training if you are watching. He’s aware of your eyes on him and it sparks something unfamiliar within him. Thus, he takes his agitation out on his opponent or whatever he is training with, making it much more intense than normal.
He’s more aware of where you are when you are both on the battlefield. He unconsciously ends up having your back throughout the fight. It just seems natural to him.
Link is very awkward when trying to impress you. He doesn’t have a lot of skills he can boast about, since he keeps the fact that he has Crow training a secret.
He’ll bake a lot for you. He keeps it in small doses each batch, not wanting to seem like he’s trying to fatten you up or anything. He really only does it because he’ll find a new recipe and instantly think of you, so he uses it as an excuse to talk to you.
He’s a great sparring partner. While he dials down his abilities, he can keep up with you and lowkey starts showing off when you express admiration for his abilities.
(Bless you anon for including dearest Miranda, she deserves it. I’m answering this assuming that the Church no longer requires Exorcists.)
Allen would want to do something relaxing. Though for him, the definition of “relaxing” is very lenient and broad, because he can consider most physical activities relaxing, like working out or performing.
I could see a big part of him really wanting to just settle down somewhere peaceful. A quiet little town, hopefully somewhere close enough to the Order that if his friends want to visit, they won’t have any trouble finding him.
Another part of him wants to go visit famous or popular restaurants all over so he can try all different types of cuisines. That is, if you’re up for it, of course.
I could see him being really down for opening a little cafe or bakery if you suggest it. He’d probably work the cash register and do the cleaning, as he’s not a particularly fantastic cook or anything. Though you can teach him! Many dates could be spent after the shop is closed so you can teach him new recipes.
Kanda would have no idea what to do with himself. He’d spend a good part of the first year living as he did on his days off at the Order: training, meditating, and eating sometime in between. Unless you sit there with him, you won’t see him much during this time.
After he eases into this life of freedom, the life he’s always wanted, he wants to move somewhere secluded. Like, a cozy little cottage in the forest or something. He likes the peacefulness of it.
Now that he doesn’t have to look for “that special someone” anymore, now that he knows it was Alma all along, he can finally allow himself to relax a bit.
He becomes a lot less tense and mean. Still blunt, but his anger has died down to a glowing ember. He’s….he’s happy now, here with you.
Lavi still has his duty as Bookman, so even though this was is over, there may be another one somewhere else. Either way, he still has those duties to attend to.
This means a lot of traveling! I’m sure that he, Bookman, and yourself have reached some sort of agreement that as long as you can give up a life of stability and also not compromise their position as Bookmen, you can come along with them. It’ll be fun!
In the lull between recording things, Lavi would sneak off with you to have some alone time. He’ll take you to see notable landmarks of the area you guys are at or into towns and such.
This whole arrangement of you coming with them helped Lavi and Bookman drop the whole “not needing a heart” thing, and Lavi’s much more open to you because of it.
Lenalee would definitely want to move back to China with you and Komui, assuming you’re up for it. She wouldn’t pressure you or anything, but you can tell she really wants to go back.
If you agree, she’d be over the moon. She drag you along all across the country, showing you to things she is familiar with and things even she hasn’t seen yet. It’s so cute.
However, Lenalee had spent practically all her life at the Order. It’d probably take some time for her to ease into a life of peace. She’d be kind of jumpy and tense for a few months at the slightest sound of uproar, even if it’s just some neighborhood kids outside playing too loud. With you there, though, it’ll be easier for her to relax.
Frequent trips out of the country to visit places she didn’t get to see leisurely when at the Order, once she is comfortable enough to do so. She always calls Komui from the phone at the inn you are staying at to let him know you both are okay.
Miranda would have the easiest time getting settled back in to a normal life because she hadn’t been part of the Order for that long, and had way more experience out in the world than the others on this list(it helps that she’s the oldest as well, haha).
The only issue would be work…she still doesn’t trust herself not to be clumsy, even though she’s made great progress since joining the Order. Her anxiety would cause her to mess up. You are definitely going to have to reassure her a lot.
She doesn’t care where you both go or what you do–it’s not like she has anyone waiting for her anywhere. She’ll follow you to the ends of the Earth, if you’d like.
Within a few years, with your help, she has gained some confidence to get a steady job and trusts herself enough to do a lot of the chores around the house(especially if you work a lot). This confidence also allows her chance to think she’d be a decent mother(again, with your reassurances), and thus she’s absolutely open to starting a family.
(I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT. Also I tried to make where they could either have just one baby or multiple kids, I hope it came out alright!)
Allen is a huge ball of tangled emotions like how can one person feel so many things at once??? How
Like when you first tell him he’s kinda looking at you with the same smile he had when you originally sat him down to talk, and you can see him working out what you just said.
When he processes it, he smiles and hugs you, thanking you for being in his life and giving him such wonderful news. It’s a surprisingly… mellow reaction, but he is happy.
He is so excited! He doesn’t really know how to be a dad but he thinks Mana was a good example, so he at least has an idea on what he should do.
He’s also so terrified! He doesn’t really know how to be a dad! Also, depending on the timing, he is still dealing with the 14th inside of him, and he’s so scared that Neah’s going to take over and do something to his family.
That being said, he is nothing if not encouraging to you. He’s with you every step of the way, but also isn’t overbearing.
He asks the Head Nurse a lot of questions, and although he was initially afraid she was going to chew him out, in reality she patiently answered all of his questions. She still reprimanded him, though, for not being more careful.
He likes talking to your belly. You like it too because it’s so sweet, and he gets so excited talking about the future with your child(ren).
Is lowkey freaking out when your water breaks but he can still function. He’s just shaky and all over the place.
He manages to stay in the room with you throughout the entire birth, and lets you squeeze his Innocence hand, since he’s not worried about you breaking it or anything. Though he does look kind of sick throughout the whole process.
When he gets to hold the child(ren), he just starts crying. He’s so happy. He helped make this small person. He vows to protect them and keep them safe/
Kanda is… shocked. He didn’t think his artificial body could even sire children, yet here you were, showing him the test.
He’s really quiet. After a while, he says he needs some time to think. He doesn’t say it in a particularly cruel voice, but he does need time to let this sink in.
He comes to you later and confesses that he honestly doesn’t know what to think, or what to do. So you sit and talk with him about it. “Do you want to keep the baby?” “Can we afford to raise a baby?” “What will the Order do if and when the higher ups find out?”
He really needed to have this talk. You two decide that you are going to work it out together, but that you have to be incredibly patient with him. He didn’t have any proper education in the field of children or parenting as a kid, and Tiedoll never actually explained what it was like being a father, even if he actually wasn’t one.
He does NOT know how to handle the mood-swings and the food cravings. One minute, your happy and discussing possible baby names. The next, your throwing things at him and cursing him for putting the baby inside you. “Well I didn’t do it on purpose!” he yells, exasperated. The perplexed look on his face makes you laugh and Kanda just wants to jump out the window because he doesn’t know what to do.
He doesn’t think he’ll be a good dad at all. He hasn’t said as much, but you can tell. It helps to reassure him that he’ll be a great dad, even if he doesn’t entirely believe you.
He begrudging goes to Tiedoll for advice. He quickly realizes this was a mistake and tries to abscond but Tiedoll won’t shut up or let go of him.
When your water breaks he doesn’t realize what that means initially. “Kanda, my water just broke.” “Your what did what?” “My water. Just. Broke.” “I… Is this more of your pregnant ramblings?” “THE BABY IS COMING” “…Oh.”
He’s highkey panicking but don’t say that to him because not only will he deny it, it will delay you getting to the ER because of how stubbornly he wants to prove that he is perfectly fine and absolutely is not panicking.
Cannot stay in the room during the birthing process. The Head Nurse has to kick him out because he’s just in the way. He has to be restrained outside because every time you scream his instincts just kick in and he wants to go fight off whatever it is that is hurting you.
When the screaming stops and the nurse exits the room, he fears the worst, but the nurse is smiling and holding some wiggling blanketed bundle(s). Kanda stares at it(them) as she offers it(them) to him and he realizes, Oh, this is my child(ren).
He doesn’t know what to do or how to feel and tells the nurse that the mother should hold the baby first, which the nurse instantly understands as “I don’t know what to do please don’t hand me that”. So he follows her back into the room.
After you’ve held the child(ren) for a while you give the bundle(s) to Kanda and instruct him on how to hold them. He’s stiff at first, and he looks hesitant, but his face softens as he looks down at the child(ren).
Lavi’s first thought is “Oh shit Bookman is going to kill me.”
Despite that, he picks you up and twirls you around, proclaiming his love for you and his unborn child(ren).
He’s super excited! Just not to break the news to the Panda. You have to coax him into doing it, because Bookman isn’t dumb and you were going to start showing eventually.
He doesn’t bring you with him when he does. He believes it’d be best if you didn’t have to hear what Bookman has to say until it’s over, because he doesn’t want you to think badly of his mentor.
After a while, they approach you, and Lavi looks a little drained, but happy. Bookman says that he won’t get in the way of you or the child, but Lavi still had a duty as a Bookman to fulfill. You almost hugged him.
Lavi reads all of that parenting books. He is really involved in the pregnancy, and knows just how to handle your mood-swings and cravings, though he does wish he could stop losing sleep just to go get you ice cream and pickles.
He enrolls you guys in a pregnancy class, don’t try to tell me he doesn’t. You guys only really plan on going for one day for the “experience”, as Lavi puts it, but neither of you completely take it seriously. “[Y/N], do you realize everybody in here has had sex?” “Yes, Lavi, that’s generally how babies are made.”
Despite his involvement in the pregnancy, he tries not to be too much. It helps that he still has Bookman work to do, but he’s always on call for you.
When your water breaks, he’s the most calm. He’s read enough to know what to do. He only really freaks out when the pain sets in, but that’s because he can’t stand to see you like that.
He stays in the room with you the whole time, letting you hold one hand as he soothes your hair back with the other, uttering encouraging words. He also tries to crack some jokes but you make it very clear that now is not the time for that.
When child(ren) finally come out, he might just faint. He doesn’t, but he does have to sit down.
As soon as the nurse hands him the kid(s), he begins cooing at them. He’s a little misty eyed, but no tears are actually shed. He thanks you softly for making him the happiest man alive.
Komui is so hype. So. Hype.
He picks you up in a bear hug and squeezes you, peppering your face with kisses. Then he quickly puts you back down because he doesn’t think squeezing is good for the baby(ies).
He runs off with you to go tell Lenalee, who he wanted to find out first, but he keeps chanting, “I’m going to be a dad” through the halls so the entire science department are the ones to find out next.
Komui remembers what his mother went through when she was pregnant with Lenalee, so from what he can remember, he applies in practice to you.
He’ll give you massages when you ask and make homemade remedies he learned from his village prior to joining the Order.
Much to his dismay, your pregnancy does not warrant him time off, so he can’t be with you all day like he would like to. That’s okay, though, because he’s a bit overbearing.
He offered to make a nanny robot. You instantly shot that idea down, and asked Reever to keep an eye on him for you.
He makes something that allows you to play music for the baby(ies) whilst still in your belly. He also enjoys chatting with the child(ren) and reading stories to them when he has the time.
When your water breaks, he’s panicking. He shouldn’t be, because he remembers what happened when his mother went into labor, albeit vaguely, but he’s still mentally fried.
He isn’t allowed to stay in the hospital room because of this. Reever and Lenalee sit with him in the hall outside your hospital room to keep him company, at the expense of passing Reever’s work off to Johnny and the others.
When the nurse tells him that he may come in, and that you are fine, Reever and Lenalee congratulate him and goes back to work.
Komui absolutely cries when he first sees his child(ren). He doesn’t even have to be holding them, he’s already teary-eyed.
He tells you how proud he is of you for being so strong and that you are going to be an amazing mother.
(Ahhhhh I got another request for the “main three” as well–would that be Allen, Kanda, and Lavi? I will answer this ask as such but if you wanted different characters please send in the request again with the specification. Also I just spent nearly 50 minutes going through my blog because I swear I’ve done a request like this before, but I couldn’t find it. I’ll just…I’ll do it anyway but if I have done it before, the headcanons may or may not be a bit different because I can’t remember! Curse my poor memory…)
Allen says it completely by accident–it was a total slip! he still meant it, though.
He flounders a bit when he realizes what he’s said. His face is really red and his hands are waving about dangerously as rambles on about how he meant what he said but that you don’t have to reply or say it back, he understands if it’s too early!
He’s so embarrassed yet…so relieved. Saying it out loud makes it feel so real. There was a time where he thought he wouldn’t have the chance to say this to anyone.
He’s so sweet and sincere. Put him out of his misery, tell him you love him too. Please. He needs it.
Kanda takes his good old time telling you that he loves you, and honestly, he probably says it only after you do. He definitely wouldn’t say it on his own accord.
Up until then, he had preferred to show his feeling through actions–not even necessarily romantic affections. He’d go out of his way to give you tips on fighting and technique, he’d bring you food if he hadn’t seen you for a while. He offers to turn in your mission report if he’s heading over that way. Simple stuff like that.
He probably is also quite…afraid of confessing his feelings to you. He’s a closed off guy, he isn’t good at being open and vulnerable. Only after he hears it from you does he get the courage to tell you.
Even then, though, it’s soft, quiet, barely a whisper. Sort and simple, “…love you, too.” Or, Hell, he might even go for the “me too”.
Lavi’s is a relieved confession, a admittance for only your ears. He says it with a content sigh, his head in his hand while he looks down at you, laying in the bed next to him.
He is absolutely aware of what he said. You already knew that you were incredibly special to him, because he told you as much when he asked you out. While the words “i love you” hadn’t left his lips when he first approached you about it, it carried as much impact as if he would have.
So it’s not like it’s big news to you or anything, but that genuine smile on his face and the twinkle in his eye is enough to get to your heart and turn your ears pink.
During this moment, behind closed doors, he’s much more genuine. Much sweeter, much realer. This is a side of him only you get to see. So when he ducks his head down to give your reddening face a bunch of kisses, you can’t help but soak up all the attention, and feel a sense of pride in being able to crack open this Bookman-in-training’s strong armor and get to hold his soft and fragile heart.
(Aaaaaa I’m glad you enjoy our writing! I miss Lavi too. Hoshino, when will my husband return home from war ;-; )
“I have no need for a heart.”
The redhead’s words echo in your head, playing back like a scratched record, months after you had initially heard them. The sudden seriousness and emotionless tone in his voice when he had said it shook you to the very core. You wouldn’t have ever guessed that that was how he actually felt, but then again, you didn’t really know Lavi Bookman. Despite his warm and welcoming nature, he was never very open in regards to himself–at least not in any serious tone.
You would have taken his word for it if not for the fact that you knew better. Despite his claims of not needing a heart, you saw how much he cared. His actions betrayed his words. When he ran to Lenalee’s aid during the Noah invasion at the Black Order, when he fought by Kanda’s side despite his lack of Innocence. He could have easily stayed in the sidelines to record history, yet he chose to act instead.
There was also the fact that no matter what, he always had your back, in both battle and daily life. You can’t remember exactly when this bond had been formed, but before you knew it, his presence had made a permanent residence in your life. A part of you wondered why the self-proclaimed “heartless man” had attached himself to you. You were not of any significant importance in this battle between Exorcists and Akuma, and yet he remained by your side.
“I have no need for a heart,” Lavi mumbled into your lap one evening, causing your hand to still, fingers frozen in the motion of carding through his scarlet locks. You thought your heart may have stopped in anticipation, waiting for a follow-up, or explanation for the sudden declaration. You had thought the two of you had gotten past this. “So why do you make me feel like I have one?”
You opened your mouth, and closed it. No words came to you. You stared down at him, heart thumping in your ears. He wasn’t joking or teasing you–in fact, his voice sounded very serious. He lifted his head off your lap to gaze up at you, his emerald eye searching your face, as if memorizing every last detail. You felt warm under the weight of his attention.
“Not only do you make me feel like I have one, you make me feel like I need one. It’s…so confusing, I don’t know what to do about it.” He turned his head slightly, raising your hand to his lips to press a kiss to it. He did not look you in the eyes as he continued. “I fought with this need to be beside you always, but I’m not a strong enough man to keep it up. I can’t even bring myself to flirt with anyone else–the thought alone makes me sick to my stomach. [Y/N], what do I do? What have you done to me?”
Finally, he looked you in the eye again, but did not let go of your hand. He looked so lost and unsure. Your eyes softened at the sight and you leaned down to press your forehead against his. He leaned into you, squeezing your hand.
“I’m sorry,” you whispered.
“You have me completely confused,” he whispered back.
“I’m sorry,” you echoed.
“Don’t ever leave me, okay?”
You leaned back a bit and Lavi opened his eye. You placed your hand against his cheek. His head tilted to the side a fraction, leaning into your hand.
“I only make that promise if you do.” Lavi closed his eye again.
“I promise, I promise, I promise,” he chanted under his breath.
(Asdfghjkl hun you are so sweet, thank you so much! I’m glad we could make your day! Featuring one of my all time favorite gifs of my husband. *blows a kiss at the night sky* for Lavi.)
“This is crazy,” you gasped for the nth time since you had deserted your role as Exorcist with your lover and soon-to-be husband.
“A good crazy or a bad crazy?” Lavi Bookman chuckled, raising his eyebrow at you. Happiness twinkled in his eye, and you decided quietly to yourself, good crazy.
“Are you…sure about this?” This was another question you had kept asking. Lavi smiled in understanding and nodded, reaching over to grab your hand and raise it to his lips, placing a chaste kiss to your knuckles.
“Of course,” he said through a smile. “I should be asking you that. I’m not deserting my actual job–I’ll still be a Bookman–but you, on the other hand, don’t have that luxury. You know they’ll come after us, right?” His smile fell and his face became deadly serious.
“I know,” you gulped. You steeled yourself, pushing the nerves down–you had already made your decision, long ago. “I didn’t just rush into this blindly, you know that.”
“That’s my Y/N,” As if by magic, his grin had bounced back into place. “Clever as a fox, you are. Never one to rush into things without a plan.”
“Oh, hush, you,” you replied, feeling your own smile spreading. You reached over to lightly whack his arm with your free hand and he laughed, tugging you by your joined hands into his side. He released your hand and put his arm around your shoulders, holding you close. You could feel his lips against the top of your head as he placed a kiss there.
“I love you, you know that, right?” He asked softly.
“I know,” you echoed your earlier statement. “You said yourself, I’m a clever little fox, aren’t I?” You heard him let out a breathy chuckle. Your eyes softened. “I love you, too.”
“It’s not…traditional, nor conventional, for a Bookman to have any sort of family ties outside of the Clan, but,” He gently squeezed your shoulder. “We’ll make it work. I can’t wait to be able to call you my wife.”
“Of course, husband,” you replied, craning your head back to smile at him. “We’ll figure it out, together.”
Lavi is admittedly a little surprised every time you do this.
It’s a good surprise, though!
I mean, you are coming in from his blindside, so he will never see it coming.
He thinks it’s so cute and loves the affectiion. He’s a very affectionate man.
He’ll wrap an arm around your waist and tap his lips, demanding to get an actual kiss from you.
He’ll repay the favor by surprising you with random kisses on cheeks. He can be very sneaky, as we have seen in the village where Krory comes from where he just pops out of the barrel.
(Mmmmm I’m gonna answer these as a “what makes them realize they are in love with their S/O”. I’m pretty sure I’ve down confession headcanons in the past for them.)
Honestly, Allen falls in love all at once. It hits him like a splash of cold water.
He sees you one morning, and you’re talking to somebody, and he’s watching your little unconscious mannerisms and ticks and realizes, “I’m in love with them.”
At first he’s a little shocked–he didn’t exactly wake up thinking he was going to have that revelation today, but here he is. And then he smiles, because he’s okay with it.
He comes over and sits by you and when you ask him what the smile’s for he just hums and shrugs, gazing at you in awe. It’s a good look for him, though, him being lovestruck.
Kanda would take a long time to realize he’s in love with you, and it’s your patience that seals the deal.
You’ve stuck around with him this long, but that’s not it. You are patient with him even when he’s being an ass, or when he’s confused and lost.
He thinks you are a saint and the love he has for you is so strong it hurts and kind of scares him.
And then you smile at him and that’s it, he’s gone. RIP Kanda
Lavi falls in love with your spirit. Your smile, your laugh, your life. He thinks you are a goddamn blessing and like Kanda, he’s terrified.
Bookman aren’t suppose to have a heart and it’s like you stepped in and every glance, every gentle touch, every giggle and whispered uttered has filled his empty chest with warm love.
And he’s happy. So happy. He could cry. He doesn’t. But he could.
He’s conflicted. This really threw his plans out the fucking window. How is he going to be able to leave you now that he knows he loves you so much? It would kill him.
Lenalee falls in love with your strength. Not just physical strength, but your mental and emotional strength.
She’s always been worried that she wasn’t strong enough, and next to you, she realizes that that wasn’t the case; you make her realize that she was just strong in her own way, just like you were strong in your own way.
It makes her happy. You make her happy. She really wants to spend the rest of her life with you, no matter how long or short it may be.
She also falls in love with the way that you get along with Komui. She was afraid he would scare you off, but yet here you are, still with her.
Link falls in love with your gentleness. He’s so used to being surrounded by rough and tough characters–a lot of which seemed heartless–that he feared that he, too, would become like them.
And then here you come waltzing into his life, tugging out his inner kindness and gentleness.
The gentle way you seem to chip away at his rough exterior with a metaphorical chisel, breaking a part his protective wall and letting his feelings ooze out.
He realizes this when he’s making you your nth packed lunch in the early hours of the morning. His hands freeze as the realization dawns upon him, and he needs a moment to just breathe.
(God me too, anon. I would literally die for him. Also I know you said history but my mind instantly went to literature, I am so sorry!)
“With a battle-ready cry, our hero bursts into the room, crying, ‘Turn, hell-hound, turn!’” cried Lavi Bookman in a passionate tone, raising his wooden toy sword.
“Turn, hell-hound, turn!” Parroted his young daughter, raising her own wooden sword.
“’You cannot defeat me!’ mocks the evil tyrant,” Lavi scowled dramatically, raising a hand to his chest. “For the tyrant still believes himself untouchable, for only a soul born of no woman could do him any harm, but alas, our hero proclaims, ‘I was not born! From my mother’s womb, I was untimely ripped!’”
“Ew,” his daughter replied, breaking character, as she stuck her tongue out. Lavi laughed.
“Icky,” he agreed.
“I was not born!” she forged on, but her face was twisted into disgust at the words, which looked comical on a six year old’s face.
“And so, the two set forth and battle!” As soon as the last word left his lips, his daughter charged, clacking their swords together. He rotated his blade this way and that, blocking more than anything. “The battle proved to be an anticlimatic ending for the tyrant who thought himself so much more. A battle of words, a twist of beliefs, all falling on deaf ears, until our hero removes the tyrants head from upon his traitorous shoulders!”
His daughter touched the tip of the wooden blade to Lavi’s neck with a victorious Ha! Lavi fell back onto the bed, sticking his tongue out and pretending to be dead. He could hear the young girl cheering. He peeked his eye open and smiled, taking the opportunity to tickle her when she was least suspecting it. She howled out a loud laugh, trying to wiggle away from him.
“Daddy! You’re suppose to be dead!”
“I’m a zombie, rawr!”
“Zombies don’t rawr! Monsters do!” Lavi raised his hands in surrender.
“Right, right.” His daughter climbed up onto the bed and sat next to him.
“So Macduff wasn’t born?” she asked.
“Nope,” Lavi said, relaxing back onto the bed, his long legs bent over the edge. “They had to remove him from his mom’s tummy through other means. Different than how you were born, at least.”
“I see…” she said. “So I wouldn’t have been able to defeat Macbeth myself?”
“Sure you could,” he assured. “They relied to much on Fate, and that’s why these stories end the way they do. They fall into Fate’s hands itself. The only reason why Macbeth thought someone like Macduff would beat him was because the witches predicted it, but in the end, it was because Macduff had his own score to settle. How he was born didn’t have anything to do with it–not really, at least.”
“I liked the witches,” she giggled. “They talked funny.”
“Lavi,” came a warning voice from the doorway. Lavi lifted his head and saw you standing there, hands on your hips. “Why are you telling our six year old the story of Macbeth?”
“It’s a classic!” he countered in his defense. “And I left a lot of the gorey bits out!”
“I cut daddy’s head off!” his daughter chirped. You slapped your own forehead and groaned. Lavi pouted at his daughter.
The only reason that Lavi confessed was because he knew that the probability of him making it back was slim. He felt it was a “now or never” situation, and it gave him some peace of mind.
It was kind of a rushed confession, very blunt. “I like you, Y/N, more than I should.”
No nickname, no honey-coated words or flirtatious comments, no winks, not even a smile. Well, not at first. He does smile sadly after watching your shocked expression.
His expression is almost heartbreaking, and you always dreamed of this happening, but much happier. But here he is, baring his heart to you without any fronts.
He doesn’t expect anything from you, not really. All he really wanted was to get the confession of his chest, and his shoulders do feel admittedly a little lighter afterwards.
His actions all fall on your reaction. If you embrace him, then he’ll hug you. If you kiss him, then he’ll kiss back. If you just acknowledge it and/or tell him the feelings are mutual, he’ll leave it at that.
He has to leave within the day, so he can’t do anything with you after the confession. In fact, he leaves to get ready after the encounter.
As he leaves, you think that it almost sounded like it was a goodbye.
The relief you both feel when he returns is out of this world, and that’s when he basically throws himself at you, hugging you tightly and proclaiming his love to you over and over again, just for the two of you. You are the only two in the world at the moment.
