“Am I allowed… to look at her like that?” You muttered as your eyes trained on the girl that you came to love.

“She’s just so… nice to look at…”

You groaned and let your head fall forward against the lunch table, a giant thud shaking your classmate’s lunches.

Kendou sighed. “You can go talk to her you know.”

You bolted up at her words and shook her head quickly. “No no no! There’s no way I could! Sh-she, she’s too cute and amazing and gorgeous and smart for me to talk to her!”

Kendou laughed at your demise, but not in a mean way. It was the way a sister would laugh at her younger sibling for falling for a prank. “I promise you Yaoyorozu-chan is nothing like that. She’s really sweet and loves to talk with people. Especially about tea.”

You groaned inwardly, leaning back in your chair so your vision was upside down. “That’s exactly why! She lives in a completely different world than me! She comes from a rich family while I come from a lower middle class! She’s so pretty and smart while I’m average at everything! I mean, she has to memorize the composition of elements and atoms and shit for her quirk to work! I just get stabbed and boom I regenerate. It’s frustrating Kendou. It’s frustrating when the one you like is so out of your league.”

“Don’t think that way (Y/N)!” Kendou exclaimed.

Ibara nodded. ‘Kendou-chan is right. You may find that her beauty is deeper than you know and she will extend it to you.”

You sighed in defeat, their attempts to cheer you up falling short. But to make them happy you put on a false smile. “Thanks, guys. That makes me feel a little better.”

Pony swallowed the food that had previously kept her from joining the conversation. “Well we have training with her class this afternoon, so you can get closer to her that way!”

“Oh yeah!” Kendou exclaimed, clapping her hands. “Maybe you and Yaoyorozu-chan can work together!”

You sighed and rubbed the back of your neck nervously. “Yeah maybe….”

“I’m really excited for today’s training!”

“You can say that again Uraraka-chan!” Setsuna cheered, high fiving Urarka and Mina. Only after a couple of classes of training together the three of them seemed to be the best of friends.

You sighed as you clipped your cape on top of your two-piece costume, the glossy finish of the two-piece glinting in the locker room light.

“Excuse me, (L/N)-san?” A gentle voice asked.

Turning you began to respond, however, your vocal cords seemed to fail as you came face to face with Momo Yaoyorozu. Her beautiful hues made you paralyzed with either fear or admiration, you weren’t sure.

“Y-yeah?!” You asked, your voice raised an octave.

Momo smiled at you. “Sorry if I scared you, it’s just I was wondering what your costume was made of. I noticed over the classes that whenever it got ripped or damaged, it seemed to heal by itself.” She explained, motioning towards your two piece. “I’m asking cause I was hoping to ask my support company to remake my costume using that material.”

A bright blush spread across your cheeks. She was talking to you about you. It was the complete opposite of what you thought she’d talk about. “O-oh really? Oh well, i-its actually made out of the normal hero suit material that’s stretchy, like Tsuyu-san’s hero outfit, mixed with my DNA.”

“Hey, Momo-chan! (Y/N)-chan! We’re heading out!” Mina exclaimed, waving to the two of you. You nodded and grabbed the last remaining parts of your costume, a utility belt laid with knives and other sharp weapons along with a long sword, which you had just sharpened last night.

Slinging the sword in the sheath around your waist you lead the way out, making sure to hold the door for Momo. Your heart skipped a beat as she walked with you, clearly wanting to continue the conversation.

“So you said that your costume is made out of your DNA right?” Momo asked, her own cape swishing around her.

You nodded. “Yeah cause of my quirk, which lets me regenerate.” You explained.

Momo’s eyes shimmered with wonder. “Wow, so that’s what your quirk is! I wasn’t sure if I’ll be honest cause each time you regenerate there’s a blinding light.”

“Well, that causes the cells in my body unfuse and fuse back together when I do regenerate. So when my costume is destroyed, the cells automatically fuse and unfuse, but usually at a slower rate.”

“Wow…” Momo whispered as the group of girls finally reached training ground Gamma, the factory-like zone. “That really is amazing. However, it is disappointing that I won’t be able to use the material of your costume for my own. I was hoping that since we both have um… hero costumes that don’t cover a lot of our skin, that I could use that material to recover what gets destroyed, but it seems like that can’t happen.”

You shook your head. “Actually no, no I don’t think so! I sent a bunch of my hair to the support company to make my costume and they had a bunch of leftover fabric that they said they would keep for future use. Maybe I can send them a letter and ask them to send it to your support company?” You wanted to make Momo happy. You wanted to help her in any way you could. And if you could help her this way, you would be the happiest girl in the world.

Momo blinked at you in surprise as her cheeks turned a bright rosy pink. Turning away, she covered her face. “Oh no, I can’t ask that. I’ll just speak with the support company of my costume and see what they can do.” She turned her head back towards you with a gentle smile. “Thank you for your generosity though (L/N)-chan.”

“(Y/N)-chan.”

Momo’s steps faltered as she heard your sudden declaration. “I’m sorry?” She asked, unsure of what you were saying.

You gulped, nervousness taking hold of you. Just why did you have to blurt that out?! “Um… I want you to call me (Y/N)-chan. That’s if you’re comfortable with that! I don’t want to push you or anyth-”

“No, no!” Momo exclaimed, shaking her head. “I would love to have the honor of calling you (Y/N)-chan. Guess that means you should call me Momo-chan then. It makes us even closer now, doesn’t it?” Momo’s eyes glistened in the light, making your own cheeks turn a dark red.

Turning your eyes to the ground, you coughed into your hand. “So, I hear you like talking about tea.”

“Oh yes! What’s your favorite kind? Mine would be a type of black tea from the middle east called…..”

You smiled to yourself as you listened to Momo talk on and on about her favorite tea and why it was so good and other things about making tea you had no idea about. Even if the two of you were just talking as normal classmates, it still made you happy. You were one step closer to holding her close.

Maybe your friends were right.
