Jealousy.

subvertta:

Noctis

  • Despite owning the grand title of “Prince of Lucis”, he is no stranger to jealousy, and falls victim to it more often than he’d like to admit. Not that he has to outwardly proclaim he is jealous, you can tell at first glance. The pout plastered over his features and crossed arms, usually a show of his brattier side, is a dead give away of his true feelings. Noctis is a firm believer of “live and let live”, as well as valuing personal space and knows that everyone needs their distance, yet fails to follow through the motto when his arms end up around your waist and his chest pressed against your back. The perfect spot to glare at his so called “competition”. It is far less threatening than he would like, instead coming across as the neediest little frown.
  • Not that it’s unwelcome to you, he becomes twice as affectionate than normal, even after the person is long gone so it’s nice to take up the occasion of a needy Prince. Personally he finds himself a bit clingy, worried certain boundaries are overstepped once his rational thoughts catch up,  but after multiple assurances from your end he won’t let go till you yourself ask him to stop.
  • Noctis doesn’t truly know where the spouts of jealousy come from, especially when someone manages to grab your attention where it was previously all on him. Insecurities of sorts are at play, even if entirely unknown by him. The prince finds himself worrying somewhere along the line, things will mess up one way or another, all because he can’t seem to figure out how to go by certain interactions. Patience is very much limited, as well as something he feels you need whenever he doesn’t quite know how to go by something, and he is grateful for the care and understanding you seem to pamper him with.

Gladiolus

  • He claims to have no outward way of showing his jealousy, entirely self aware of the feeling and how silly it could be. You trust him, he trusts you, and loyalty was established from the very beginning of the relationship, so why should he be worried? Still he can be seen just so subtly puffing out his chest and crossing his arms, mistaking his tension for another show of “accidental” flexing. Though he does like to get a word somewhere later, some form of polite reminder to that person you two are very much in love and not interested in hookups. Again, politely. Clarus taught him better than to cause a scene.
  • His confidence helps keep the jealousy at bay, but he does have his rare occasions where he feels that little bit of jealousy. Those moments where you end up oblivious to someone else flirting with you, laughing at their jokes, he will feel that undeniable pang in his chest that urges him to calmly walk up and whisk you away. There can only be one person in this town who can make you laugh, and by the Gods will he make sure it is him first and foremost.
  • Not to say he doesn’t have any insecurities. Despite the nigh overwhelming aura of confidence, those little thoughts of self-doubt never fail to break through that shell. The fear of not being good enough always plagues him, be it stemming from his job or relationship. After all, what good is a shield if he is not strong enough? Isn’t the same ideal present in a relationship? Any and all assurances are welcome, whether the slightest smile when you lock eyes, or clinging onto him like an oversized teddy bear, he will appreciate it and give back to you tenfold.

Prompto

  • This poor boy is one walking anxiety, and is quick to make jealous. Someone that’s not him? Chatting you up? Throwing flirts your way? It simply does not compute with him. He embodies the form of a question mark, not quite sure where to place himself. A few compliments thrown your way are fine (and fully agreed with), but sometimes when they start piling up from the same person he can’t help but get pouty.
  • It is blatant through his whines, acting like a kicked puppy. He would even say he is one, kicked right in the heart, clutching the fabric of his shirt at his chest. A cheeky little dramatic show, yet cute from the way his eyes truly resemble that of a desperate little puppy. By nature he loves to cling to you, and this matter is no different. Hands wandering wherever they can to hold you close, resting his chin on top of either shoulder or head, whichever your height makes most convenient.
  • Prompto is made entirely of stress and anxiety as his biggest driving force. In the lowest of times he is one big insecurity over something so simple as him existing. He despises his lonely past, and the possibility that one day he might fall back to the deafening silence of solitude in his home is perhaps one of his biggest fears. The  very thought of you one day deciding to break off any and all contact, leaving him back in his lonesome plays the biggest part in his spouts of jealousy.
  • If you give this man a simple hug and “I love you” every negative thought will melt away instantly and bring out his playful mood. If you’re smiling, he will most definitely be smiling.

Ignis

  • As someone who ends up choosing work over his personal life more often than not, he deems himself unworthy to feel such a silly thing like jealousy. How could he have the right to it when you’re left in your shared flat to your own devices with him absent till late hours of the night? Still, he cannot help but clench his fists whenever someone garners your attention more than he’d like. The fear is always there, no matter how much you assure him of your love, how he is more than enough, Ignis Scientia will always worry you will grow tired of his constant absence and find someone else who will give you the love and devotion you deserve. Not that he would voice those anxieties, not from distrust but from his own stubbornness.
  • He deems his demeanour nothing but stoic and composed whenever someone grabs your attention away from him, yet he seems oblivious to the glare locked in his eyes and lips ever so slightly curled into a small pout. At best he seems disgruntled, at worst his eyes cast curses sharper than his daggers.Any show of physical affection in public is so rare with Ignis, you can’t help but wonder when his hand wounds up around your waist, fingers digging into your clothes, urging you to bring yourself flush against him. Words of endearment are just as rare, so the sudden abundance of them as he addresses you is just as much of a shock, leaving only one logical conclusion for you. He is jealous.
  • Bring it up in public and he will deny it. “You are your own person, who am I to tell you who you can and cannot talk to?” Though if he could, as horrible as the thought is, he would love to have your undivided attention, especially when your time together is already limited. In private it is always just two words. “Maybe so.”
  • Assurance will go a long way for him, especially in the form of shows of affection here and there. Running your hands through his hair, whispering I love you right before a chaste kiss on the cheek goes a long way. The cure to the storm in both heart and mind.

Lunafreya

  • She is an amalgamation of entirely confident, yet incredibly pouty and riddled with some stray insecurities endlessly prodding at her thoughts. Seeing you off talking and laughing with other people is fine, socialisation is part of being human, she should know and the both of you are your own person. But at the same time you are hers so why aren’t you in her arms this is a crime, please look this way let me see your smile. It is her greatest treasure, after all.
  • Lunafreya fails at masking her jealousy, the undeniable hints lying in her pout and glare through squinted eyes at whoever she deems to be too friendly with you. Yet her words remain as eloquent and kind as ever, a complete stranger to malice. No matter how stern it is, how can you find that pout anything but adorable and smile like a fool? That is precisely what eases those anxieties plaguing Luna and she instead becomes a blubbering mess.
  • Her jealousy stems from a far worse devil – the knowledge that her time is limited on Eos, with every little second is just that precious, and as unhealthy as it sounds to her, she clings onto it like every day is her last. The more time spent with you, the happier she is.  At heart, she wants you to have as many good memories with her to look back for the years to come once she’s gone, and in return  truly live her life to the fullest in your presence. The burdens of an Oracle are heavy indeed, and even a minute with you lifts the heavy weight off her shoulders.
  • Even but a kiss is enough to have her snap out of the jealousy. So is a hug, or a grin her way, even a silly little pet name she adores. Her heart is far too kind to cling to malice, more so when you are involved.

Ravus

  • “Ravus, are you jealous?”
  • He is offended at the thought, of him, High Commander of the Niflheim army, and former Prince of Tenebrae, jealous over some irrelevant little –
  • Yes. Very much so. His offence doesn’t come from just false accusations, but rather because it is true. You are among the little things he has left that bring him genuine joy, and every day he fears one way or another he will lose you like everything else. It is a vulnerability he doesn’t want any of the vultures from the army knowing, lest they use it against him in the worst way imaginable. This is a sort of secret he feels both ashamed of but trusts you most with to keep without putting him down for the fears. He will voice his doubt to you, praying you hope you understand the inner turmoil of his.
  • Ravus makes it too obvious towards his jealousy whenever anyone else manages to get a laugh out of you, or brush a hand against yours whether a genuine accident or not. While he is unaware, the glare that overtakes his eyes and the brows pulled into a frown is hard to ignore. A death threat painted over his features without even having to speak the words. Everything about his posture is strained, down from his jaw firmly clenched keeping back any vile spats to throw the persons way or the tension thick as tar in his voice.
  • There are many ways to reassure him, whether the dreaded (yet secretly loved) hair ruffle whenever you can actually reach that far up, or taking the magitek prosthetic and entwining your fingers with the metal ones, a silent assurance that he is still very much human in your eyes, and is loved regardless. Not that he knows how to exactly convey the same thing, after all this is the same man who panicked and said “Thank you” when you told him you love him.

Ardyn

  • He knows well how to hide his emotions when he feels fit, and jealousy falls right under that category but he simply doesn’t try hiding it. He will be incredibly petty about it, letting everyone in the nearest ten mile radius know that you are with him and anyone to attempts to intervene with that will be involved in an “accident”.
  • He classes his reasoning over jealousy not as petty however. A simple one, really. He is immortal and you are… well… not. Unlike him you don’t have the luxury of having quite literally all the time in the world, and every day is just ticking closer to your death and he is well aware to that. If not too aware. He intends to spend every waking second with you, sometimes whether you like it or not you will be stuck with his overwhelming presence, turned down a notch only by your request. Anyone who thinks themselves worthy to take that little bit of joy away from him infuriate him to no end.
  • Not that he tells you this, after all who would believe him if he were to say he is Ardyn Lucis Caelum, alive and most definitely not well after two thousand years. The only proof he has is his (stolen) royal arms and he would rather keep those a secret, even from you. Instead what he falsely admits to is simply pinning it down to his age. What if you find some young lad to suit your liking? So many others in the army to woo you need fending off before they get any ideas with such a proper lady like yourself. Or so he says.
  • Reassure him all you want, by the time you get to it all of Eos knows who’s courting you. Depending on his mood, either from the marks deliberately littered where your clothes don’t cover, or a simple, dramatic speech intended for all of Eos to hear. Despite the many loving words he manages to string in together, he somehow has a knack for making it sound ominous without context to whoever he is lecturing.

Mermaid!Bros Meeting Their Soulmates!

Noctis

  • It was a cold ass day when you met him. The sky was overcast with a sharp chill that rattled your bones and you were perched on the edge of a pier
  • You didn’t know why you were out there, but something told you that you had to be there
  • You were staring out over the water when the weird pull that brought you there started tugging at your stomach
  • It was then that you saw it
  • The flash of color in the waves: a deep blue sprouting from the water before it disappeared once again
  • Then the tug
  • It was a tug so strong that you were launching to your feet, leaning over to get a better look
  • Then you fell in
  • The water was freezing as it enveloped you, the chill clinging to your skin as pinprick needles seemed to stab into you
  • You couldn’t move
  • It was so cold; too cold
  • You were falling down and down and down and–you couldn’t breath
  • Your lungs were burning and your skin was freezing and you clothes were clinging and you just kept sinking
  • Then, you stopped
  • Something warm was touching you, wrapping around you as you were propelled to the surface
  • The second you felt the cold air against your face, you were gasping. Fresh air flowed into your lungs, but you couldn’t let go of the warmth
  • You were clinging to it, pressing your face into it and letting it carry you as you tried to catch your breath
  • “You okay?”
  • His voice was lazy as it reached your ears, the sound causing your heart to stutter as you looked up and saw his face
  • And it was fucking beautiful. His eyes fell on your own and it was as if time stopped
  • You sat in his arms, moving with the waves as you clung to his warmth and stared with wide eyes. He stared back, his lips parted in a soft O and his blue-grey eyes just as wide as yours
  • You blinked and the spell was broken, although the tug in your gut was noticeably gone, replaced by a soft longing in your heart
  • You looked down, expecting to see a pair of human legs. There were none. Instead, a long, sleek tail was gently waving in the water, keeping you two afloat
  • You gasped again, startled as you were clinging to him even more
  • “Oh, yeah. Don’t mind that.” He said. You felt his shoulders move as he shrugged, but it was near impossible to take your eyes off of his scaled tail
  • Only when a violent shiver racked through your body did you look back at him, seeing his face so much closer to yours
  • He looked at you, staring at your nose and your eyes and taking it all in
  • “You know,” He began, his voice somehow heard over the crashing waves, “When my dad told me all merfolk have soulmates, I didn’t think mine would be human,” He was smiling, a sense of humor laced into his tone. “But we can talk about it later.”
  • He was already swimming towards the shore, only stopping when the water was too low for him to swim
  • You didn’t want to let go, and neither did he. You both sat in the wet sand, his warm arms wrapped around you like a blanket
  • “Your highness!” The voice was sharp, demanding
  • He looked up for a milisecond, eyes wide before glancing back at you. “Come back tomorrow,” His words were fast and he was already letting go, but you still clung to his wet skin, refusing to move.
  • “Promise you’ll be back?” Your voice was so soft that he was surprised he could hear it
  • Rather than say yes, his head dipped down. His lips were resting against yours’, still warm against your cold skin. It ended to soon.
  • “A mermaid’s kiss is a promise–and that goes for mermen too,” he smiled at you, leaning forward and gracing your forehead with another kiss before he disappeared beneath the waves and left you stunned and surprised
  • You didn’t know his name, and you didn’t know how true his words were, but you would still be back tomorrow
  • You didn’t think your heart would be able to survive otherwise

Prompto

  • The sun was bright, the sand was warm, and you were happily getting sunburned on the beach
  • You had grown up in that town on the ocean, happily soaking up the mildly salty sea air as time went on
  • You grew up listening to weird tales of half fish people who stole things left near the ocean and replaced them with the ocean’s bounty
  • Of course, when you were younger, you decided to test this theory
  • Spoiler alert: it was true
  • You left all sorts of things on the pier: old toys you didn’t want, funny looking rocks, costume jewelry, bottles, plastic food that came in those giant packages at the store…
  • And when you came back the next day, they would always be gone. There was always something in its place
  • Sometimes there would be a shell or a piece of coral, other times there were sparkling pieces of ocean glass or strangely shaped driftwood. One time, there had been a dead fish, but you only screamed and kicked it back in the water (it had been a rough day and you didn’t get any more fish afterwards)
  • You had long since stopped leaving things on the pier or receiving things from the ocean, but today was a bit different
  • You hadn’t meant to leave you favorite necklace in the sand, but it had happened. When you realized it, the sun was steadily lowering in the distance but you promised yourself you’d be quick and could only hope for it to be resting where you had been
  • You froze when you saw someone in the sand, peering at a chain in their hand
  • You had never seen him before and couldn’t place the messy blonde hair or the freckled skin, and as your gaze lowered, you gasped
  • He had no legs. In fact, instead, he had a giant fish tail
  • It was glimmering in the sunset, with long, flowing fins that seemed to burn the brightest golds and splayed out onto the sand like a flowing skirt
  • You must have been staring too long
  • He looked up, his eyes meeting yours
  • Honestly, you think that was when you were smitten: the second you looked into his cornflower blue eyes
  • Your feet were bringing you to him, slowly and quietly. You hadn’t even noticed
  • He looked so scared, his eyes big and fearful, he was inching back towards the waves, your necklace dangling in his hand
  • He had reached the water, and with a splash, he was gone
  • “Hey–wait!” Your call was useless, he was gone in a flash with nothing but a seaspray and flash of gold left behind
  • You came back the next day. And the next. And the next. You kept coming back, wanting to meet the strange man with the fish tail and to get your necklace back. At least, that’s what you told yourself
  • You couldn’t deny the burning curiosity in your stomach or the longing in your heart
  • An entire month passed before you saw him again. That day, you decided you weren’t leaving the dock until you saw his freckled face again. In fact, you brought something else to trade, a small earring that you had long since lost the other half to
  • He didn’t show up all day, just like the days before, but you weren’t about to leave. However, you did fall asleep
  • That night, as you laid on the dock underneath the moon, there was a loud splash on the dock that had you stirring in your sleep
  • Outside of your dreams, the same merman from earlier was perched on the dock, soaking wet
  • He was surprised to see you there, fast asleep with a soft snore escaping your mouth
  • Slowly, he reached towards the hand curled near your face, something small in hand. He let it fall into your palm, completing the trade, and turned to leave
  • He stopped, however, his eyes catching sight of the sparkling piece in your other hand
  • Sparkling things were always his downfall, and he wasn’t about to deny what he could only conclude was a gift for him, but he also had nothing else to trade
  • Still, he reached forward, his deft fingers gently lifting the small treasure from your hand
  • He smiled as he examined it, lost in its sparkle and lost in the memories of the costume jewelry that you had often left when you both were nothing more than children.
  • He had to admit that he also had some feelings for you then and often waited for you to return and find the offerings he had left
  • Only when he saw you on that beach and when you saw him did things click and he realized why he was so attached to you: one, simple human
  • He smiled, his hand reaching forward to gently touch your face
  • His hand was so cold against your dry cheek, and you woke up, jumping up and startling the poor merman
  • “Oh my god.” You were the first one to speak, your eyes big and your voice quiet
  • He looked like a cow caught in headlights. His eyes kept flickering to the water, his muscles tensing. He moved to jump.
  • “Wait! Please!”
  • He paused at your voice, his heart aching as you begged. He turned, looking at you curiously
  • Your eyes flickered to something around his neck, catching sight of the silver chain and the familiar pendant. “Wait–is that my necklace?”
  • He glanced away, looking rather sheepish. “Yeah–well–uh, we traded?” His voice was higher, so much normal sounding than what you thought. If it wasn’t for the fish tail, you would’ve thought he was a normal human
  • “Traded–?” You paused, feeling a light weight in your hand. Looking down, you opened your clenched fist to see a small, glittering pearl resting in your palm. Nostalgia clawed at your heart, reminding you of the small gifts you had found on the dock as a child. You smiled.
  • “It’s beautiful.”
  • “Yeah… reminded me of you.”
  • You looked up, stunned at the compliment. Even under the moonlight, you could see his blush.
  • “I always thought that, even when we were kids.” He admitted, his face growing redder.
  • It was that statement that made you realize–he was the one who left those presents on the pier. Your smile only grew and you threw yourself at him, wrapping your arms around his wet figure as he let out a surprised “Whoa!”
  • You pulled away, blushing as much as him despite your now wet clothes. “I always did wonder who left those presents.”
  • His smile was shy as he looked at you, only for a loud splash nearby to direct his attention elsewhere. “Ah damn,” He sighed, “I gotta go.” He looked at you, his eyes filled with questions. “Listen,” He leaned forward, “I’ll come back tomorrow night, okay? Same time.” There was a nervous edge to his smile as you nodded.
  • He paused, glancing around before making his decision. He shot forward, and it took a moment of surprise for you to realize the warmth on your lips was from his. He pulled away after a moment, blushing even more than earlier as he leaned towards the edge of the pier
  • “What was that for?” You were blushing just as much as him, your voice slightly breathless
  • He paused, perching on the edge of the dock with a slight smile as he held up your earring in his hand. “I don’t have anything with me except–well, except my feelings.”
  • This time, it was you who shot forward and left a small kiss on his lips. You pulled away with a devilish edge to your smile, “Guess now you owe me another present.”
  • He laughed. It was wonderful, filling the night and leaving you with the distinct ache to hear it again. “I guess I do, huh?” He grinned, before glancing back at the water. “But it’ll have to wait.”
  • He slid off the dock, leaving a splash of water and a flash of the same bright gold behind. You promised yourself you’d be back the next night, after all, you think he might have stolen your heart alongside that earring

Pocky Day!!!

chocobostrinket:

Noctis:

His face is carefully blank when he brings it up, eyes
looking at the ceiling as if he wasn’t nervous about how cheesy the idea was. They
were at his apartment, sitting on the couch and playing video game, or rather
watching him play, when he’d paused the game and asked about Pocky day. He
pretended that he didn’t know what it was, rather them offer to play the game
than him initiating the game.

Conveniently, there was pocky among the snacks that Ignis
had brought from them earlier. The amused look that Ignis had given him had
nearly made his face burn off from how quickly it had turned red. But now with
them looking at him with a pleasant blush on their face, and hearing their soft
laugh, it was worth it.

“Well, you take one of these…” They opened the box and
pulled one out, continuing to explain the game.

Meanwhile, Noctis wasn’t paying attention. He was fixated on
their lips as they spoke, and only was distracted when they asked, “So do you
want to try it?”

He nodded almost embarrassingly fast, but then slowed down
and put back his mask of indifference.

“Yeah, sure.” He tossed in a shrug, as if he really didn’t
care. Never mind that he felt all fluttery.

“Alright, this will be a practice round then.” They then put
the Pocky between their lips and raised their eyebrow, as if asking him if he
was ready.

In response he leaned forward, and they counted down with
their hand.

“Go!” They tried to say, but with their mouth occupied it
came out muffled, but Noctis still understood. They both tried to eat the most
of the pocky, quickly as possible. They had a smile in their eyes and Noctis
was trying his best not to laugh at how this was actually kind of fun. And
seeing them getting closer with every nibble was an added bonus.

In the end neither were keeping track of who ate the most,
and instead focused on when their lips met.

Prompto:

They’d been playing all day, with teasing laughs and were actually
keeping score. Both were at the citadel for the day, Prompto running through a
low stress training session for the day. His S/O on the other hand would just
be there for moral support, occasionally cheering to themselves when Prompto
did something he was struggling with. There were frequent breaks thankfully,
not to mention that there were other people there who just came by to see their
friends, family, and partners as they trained. So they had plenty of company.

Every time they did see each other though, the first thing
they’d call out is, “I’m still winning!”

The other would always reply with, “Get over here and prove
it then!”

In reality they were both tied. And with how much fun they
were having with each other were making the other couples a bit jealous. Those
who were single either thought they were super cute, or felt like they had
cavities.

Eventually they do run out of pocky, and just spend the rest
of their time arguing about who won with light hearted smiles and adoration in
their eyes for each other.

Ignis:

The S/O would have to explain the game to him and he wouldn’t
really get it. Or so he’d say. Internally he’d be wondering how they could be
so cute. So when they ask if he wants to play he’d end up saying yes. And then promptly
cheat by breaking the pocky and simply kissing them.

“I guess I win that one.” He’d say eating the pilfered pocky
while his S/O is stunned.

They end up laughing, not expecting that from Ignis, and he’d
also end up laughing when they demand a rematch. But in the end, he just ends
up kissing them and stealing the pocky. Somehow, they don’t mind though.

Gladio:

He doesn’t realize what day it is until he sees his S/O
eating a pocky stick. They don’t realize what day it is either, until he brings
it up. The game makes his S/O laugh, but then they tell him that they’re
winning since they’ve gotten a head start on the box.

It’s on after that.

They take turns teasing each other and end up going through
the whole box very quickly, both having a competitive streak a mile wide. So
they walk to the store together, arguing about whether the half of the box the
S/O ate actually counts. Upon getting more, Gladio plays keep away so he can ‘catch
up’ as he put it. And that’s what makes the S/O give up the pocky they ate
alone. But they’re smiling when they do.

So they go back to playing the game, each time they eat one
together, lips brushing one another, they end up turning into a kiss. Eventually
though, it turns into taunting each other and flat out trying to keep the pocky
from each other, to try and keep their lead on each other once they realize
that they’re both still mentally keeping track. It very quickly turns into a
chase/race back to Gladio’s place, with the winner being who won the game.
