{@anon who requested this, I hope I did alright?
I don’t know where exactly this would fit in timeline wise??? let’s just go with after first class and Charles didn’t fall off the wagon and the school stayed running and all was well ok…}
It had been close to six years since you had seen Raven, once she left you tried putting her out of your mind as much as possible.
You had Kurt to think about now, he was your everything, a sweet little blue bundle of happiness all the time.
He was everyone’s happiness in a way,
It was a warm sunny day in August when they came to your door. You had been playing with Kurt in the living room and giving him a small snack when you heard the doorbell ring through the house.
You cocked your head wondering who could be coming, you weren’t expecting anyone. A quick thought of it being Raven popped into your mind but you quickly shoved it away, she wouldn’t come back, she wanted to leave so she left.
You really hoped it wasn’t anyone coming to bother you, you got quite a few none to friendly looks when people saw you carrying a mutant child, you always kept Kurt’s attention so he didn’t see their stares and spoke loudly about what you two were going to do to make sure he didn’t hear any of their comments.
You set a giggling Kurt on the carpet and put his favorite stuffed doll and rubber ball next to him, his tail swishing and hitting the ball, and making sure he was ok before heading to the door.
You opened the door to reveal two people you didn’t know, a man in a wheel chair with longish brown hair, and a taller man with spikey blonde hair behind him.
Both were around your age, at least they didn’t look like the regular mutant hater to show up at your door, they didn’t have those disgusted looks on their faces.
The guy in the wheel chair, turns out was Charles Xavier, you’d heard all about him from Raven, him and Erik always ended up in her stories at some point.
And the overly flirty one, was Alex. (You’d heard about him too, Raven was never sure if he was going to date ‘Hank’ or ‘Sean’, other partners in her lighthearted crimes)
When you let them in Charles had told you he knew there was a young mutant here, he had checked in on Raven a few times (it felt creepy knowing how he could just pop in Ravens or if he wanted, your head from anywhere) but when he checked after awhile, she was no longer around. Only a smaller mutant he didn’t recognize,
he decided he had to come check around,
You heard Kurt start giggling loudly after a small crash and went to get him, he was still sitting where you’d sat him but rolls his ball into knocking his stack of blocks.
You picked him up, balancing him on your hip and walking back towards the kitchen where your visitors were.
Kurt’s tail wound around your arm, happy to be carried.
When you re-entered the kitchen both the men looked up, Kurt, seeing more people started making grabby hands and them and happy little sounds.
“This,” you readjusted Kurt on your hip “Is Kurt, my and biologically, Raven’s son” you said smiling at Kurt and booping his nose making him laugh
Charles mouth fell open, gaping like a fish. He’d had a small lingering suspicion but didn’t think it was possible.
The blueness of Kurt’s skin did give him a slightly obvious hint though.
“Well,” Charles cleared his throat, regaining his posture “that is what I had wanted to talk to you about, (Y/n)” he nodded towards Kurt who was now being held by Alex, and trying to grab Alex’s nose.
You raised an eyebrow when Charles said your name, you hadn’t introduced yourself.
“I’d like to offer you and Kurt a home at my school. It’s a safe place for mutants”
[Sure Charles, let’s ignore the explosions, invasions, the possibility of the whole place being leveled by lasers or freak lab accidents]
~~~~time jump, brought to you by! Hank forgetting to take his serum, then forgetting when he doesn’t take his serum he sheds, and by forgetting those doesn’t comb, and sheds blue fur all over the mansion and lab~~~
It had been a few years since you and Kurt moved into the mansion, he was the star of the show! everyone loved the happy little blueberry, he was everyone’s little pal.
He also, had just found another power to his mutation….Teleporting.
Even with a whole school of young, energy filled mutants with various abilities, no one could catch him.
At first it started when he was allergic to one of the girls’ perfumes, Kurt’s nose crinkled up before he let out a kitten light sneeze and disappeared in a cloud of blue smoke.
You may have screeched, had a heart attack, and almost passed out all at once.
Until another mutant a little ways down the corridor got landed on by a confused Kurt who appeared above him, safely, landing on the poor older boys head.
You ran over to them, still frantic from Kurt’s little trick then he sneezed again.
This time landing on a vase in the other room making it crash to the floor.
That was about three days ago, but now Kurt had a bit of an idea at what he was doing.
It was no longer spontaneous landing anywhere due to sneezes, he could figure-eh, close to where he wanted to end up and pop there himself.
He also loved the noise he made when he teleported around, it made him a giggling mess as he would pop all around the mansion to friends of his and yelling “I’m bamfing! I’m bamfing!” as he jumped up and down before he ‘Bamf-ed’ away again.
It was days of everyone chasing him around, trying (and failing miserably) to catch him.
Each night resulted in everyone in the mansion exhausted and tiny Kurt finally tired, curled up in your arms sucking on one of his fingers with his tail curling around you or himself.
You were really beginning to wish you knew who his father was, at least you could have some kind of clue if there was anything else to watch out for.
“If I’m eating bwuberries, is that camabisn?” Kurt asked, holding a blueberry in the palm of his hand to show you
You chuckled at his attempt at larger words as Kurt eyed the blueberry, nudging it a little with his tail.
You and Kurt were out by the line of blueberry bushes in the fancy garden area, Kurt was sitting on the ground next to you while you picked them.
“No Kurt, honey. You can eat blueberries,” you laughed shaking your head “It’s not cannibalism. I promise.”
Kurt looked up at you, his wide yellow eyes shining “But I’m a bwuberry too! arwen’t I?” he tilted his head like a puppy and looked at the berry in his hand again.
You ruffled his hair smiling at him “No honey, you aren’t actually a blueberry, that’s just your nickname” Kurt looked at you confused “But, why?” he asked
‘Blueberry’ became his name rather quickly, that and munchkin. Kurt really loved blueberries though, and loved their color. When he saw you bring a container of them home first he was amazed and said “wook mommy! they’re like me!”
You sat down beside Kurt, putting the basket of blueberries beside you. “Because, you’re blue like them,” you pointed to his arm and he looked at his arms and legs curiously “you’re round like them” you poked his round little tummy making him laugh "and because you’re sweet like them" you poked his nose making him go into a fit of giggles.
Raven sat at the edge of a cheap hotel bed, early morning sunlight peeking through the curtains.
She looked at the body sleeping beside her and sighed, it was too familiar to her. This is exactly like when she woke up after her meant to be one night stand with (Y/n).
(Y/n). The name brought a tear to her eye, they were the only one besides Erik who she decided was worth any emotion from her.
She leaned back on her hands thinking about (Y/n) and smiled, Kurt was oh, six now? or he would be soon. She wondered for a moment what if would be like if she had stayed, her and (Y/n) raising little Kurt together.
She wondered what had become of the two, were they safe?
She frowned at the thought of anti-mutants finding them, it was very possible.
Maybe Kurt had been able to teleport like Azazel?
Azazel, she wondered. Where was he now?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You never expected to see her again. It was seven years since you’d seen her, and not even Charles had heard from her.
She wouldn’t even respond to him when he went inside her mind.
So when she showed up, walking through the entrance, without any care of curtesy about the fact she hadn’t spoken to anyone here once in years only to walk in like she lived here, you wanted nothing more then to slap her.
A few mutants looked towards the doors when she came in, Kurt too, being the friendly little guy he is he always wanted to greet everyone with a smile and a hug.
Kurt’s head perked up when she walked in, he didn’t recognize her (thank god, he hadn’t asked about her before either) you grabbed his hand before he bounded up to her and tugged him along with you to go outside, Kurt’s smile turned into a confused little frown but he followed you, asking if you could go make flower crowns again which you happily agreed to.
You saw Raven around a few more times before she left, each time she was anywhere near she was looking at you or little Kurt.
Kurt didn’t pay a lot of attention to her, usually busy playing with his friends or his toys, but when he noticed her stare he’d give a huge smile and wave to her, sometimes she’d give a short, have hearted wave back before he’d run off to play.
You’d just finished helping one of the younger mutants with their reading (You help any of the kids out whenever you can) when Raven walked up to you, not saying a word yet.
You looked up at her, she hadn’t changed at all, of course she could always look like this disguise, hiding her true self from everyone. “Raven” you said, not sure what else you could say.
she cleared her throat “Mystique actually, I don’t go by Raven anymore, you know that.” she tried to sound friendly but you really couldn’t care, you just rolled your eyes at that.
“Well Mystique” you made sure to pronounce is clearly “What are you doing back here? this is where you were your ‘slave’ self after all, isn’t it?”
Raven hung her head, not daring to look you in the eye “I came here to see how you all were, to see you and Kurt. I went to your house but you weren’t there. Just some humans. I wanted to see you before I left” she said the word in a sour tone. You were the only human she tolerated, you understood why but you were still annoyed by the way she said it.
“We’re both fine Ra-Mystique. Kurt’s doing great and so am I, so if that’s all?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“You raise him well” Raven said, walking up and standing next to you, in the human disguise she wore when you’d first met her, blond hair hanging down her back. “I know I did, he’s my son” you said stiffly making her flinch slightly at your colder tone.
Kurt was sitting with his group of friends in the grass, chatting about something, you didn’t know what but it didn’t matter. Kurt was happy, laughing along with the others.
“I’m sorry, you know.” she leaned her head against your shoulder, but you ignored her “I didn’t want to leave him, leave you, but I had to save the mutants.”
You gave a humorless laugh at her attempt at justifying herself. “And you couldn’t have said anything? couldn’t have told me or stopped by once?” you crossed your arms and turned to look her in the eye. “You abandoned us without any notice, Raven. And yes I mean Raven, that’s who you are and who you’ve always been to me.” she opened her mouth to speak but you didn’t let her “You didn’t care about leaving either of us.” you shook your head “You should go save some more mutants now. You did good by bringing Warren here from the german fighting ring, yes, but you don’t want to be here. You know it. And don’t stay around if you’re just going to tell Kurt who you really are to him and disappear again. He doesn’t deserve that because you know you’re just going to leave. Kurt could have been your son, and he would have loved you. But you left and forgot about him, he isn’t your son, he’s mine and I’m the one who loves him.”
You walked away from her, leaving her speechless. This time she was crying and you weren’t going to comfort her.
Kurt’s a happy kid, he hasn’t had any problems, or been around mutant haters. Only family who has always loved him, even if his mother wasn’t one of them. He had a loving family.
