A story where Prompto grew up deaf. He couldn’t afford to buy any hearing aids so he watches lip movements to see what are they talking about. He never talks in fear he would sound weird so he signed instead.
Noctis was the one who actually approached him this time. People seemed to make fun of Prompto. Saying incredibly rude things to him… There was nothing that Prompto could do. Noctis saved him, become his protector. Their friendship started somewhere around middle school.
Noctis slowly fell in love with him. He fell in love with the cute squeaky noises Prompto did whenever he’ was happy or excited. The way he seems to scratch behind his ear when he was thinking. The way he smile crookedly and that dimple on his cheek. The way he signed so passionately about photography and art that Noctis could barely catch up. His loud weird laugh, his determination, his strength– everything.
Despite knowing sign language he usually talks with Prompto like a normal person because that’s it. Prompto IS normal. Unlike him, who was tied to magic. People often treat him like he was the freak of nature and Noctis thought that was incredibly unfair. Besides, Prompto preferred it that way.
So when Noctis confessed to him by signing it out. Prompto cried and asked why? Was he joking? Was he degrading him? Why was he signing when he can talk normally? Noctis signed back–
“It’s a special language only known between you and me. This is our safe lil haven. This is our language…”
“Have you heard? About the prince and that glaive of his?”

Noct has been fishing this whole time to keep the gang alive but there are barely any catches nowadays.
It seems like something is stirring in the water though but the boys don’t know what it is.
Of course it’s Prom to the rescue with one fish!
That’s okay though cause after this the boys start working together to feed everyone~
Finally, after a long time of basically starving, Noct feels content along with a very full Prompto. Iggy and Gladio are also very content and are sleeping.
The feeling of happiness brings Noct back to his better days with the clan and he starts to tell stories to Prompto about his past.
Noct then talks about his trial and that if he doesn’t succeed he can’t ever go back. He’s starting to accept that this is probably gonna be his life from now on.
Hope you enjoy the storybook-like way I’mma do this now. It’s just a lot faster for me to do and I have more fun this way so win win 😀

Ignis and Gladio search for the seal because it’s their best chance for them to all to go home. They go out when Noct is sleeping and track Prompto down.
They find Prompto in a cave and aren’t sure what to do. After some debating Ignis goes to get Noctis while Gladio keeps watch on Prom. They hope that Prom will die from blood loss while Iggy gets Noct so no one has to kill anyone. After all the clan doesn’t need to know how the seal died.
Iggy does his best to drag a tired Noct to Prom.
Once there Noct immediately recognizes the seal as the one he injured and goes to assess the damage.
It’s a good thing there’s magic in this AU! lol Noct heals Prom with a potion he keeps in his belt pocket and the healing immediately takes effect. Prompto is mesmerized by how fast his injury healed. Noct is relieved he was able to undo the damage he’s done and hopefully set things right with Prompto.
After Prompto recovered he was released into a waterhole in the cave. Noctis promises to treat Gladio and Ignis for leading him to Prom; While they’re leaving Prom secretly stayed to watch them go as he is now very curious about Noct~
After that situation got handled, and Prompto got some clothes, Prom starts talking about his grand plan!
Ya see, the clan doesn’t need to know how Noctis killed a seal SO if they use Prompto’s pelt as “proof” that he did the deed then he’ll pass the trial! Easy! 😀
So then the boys go to Noct’s tribe with their plan sorted out! Regis hasn’t slept a wink since Noct left. Nevertheless, he must push on for his people.
