He comes back home around three in the morning, dragging his feet and waking you up with the cold touch of his fingers behind your ears.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to…” Tim’s voice is groggy from lack of sleep.
He had been working on a case for the past two weeks, trying to find clues and connecting dots.
“It’s okay.” You reach for his hand, taking it in yours with a sigh.
Tim looks at you, tracing a soft circle on your temple and half a smile on his lips. A deep shade of purple under his hazed blue eyes.
“I miss you,” a whisper that seems to fill the room.
Tim stutters mid sentence, his chest vibrating with a quiet giggle and swelling with warmth.
You treat your fingers through his hair and pull him towards you, your noses brushing together.
He had been working too hard he felt he had neglected you.
Yet there you are, sitting to hold his cheeks, placing small pecks all over his flustered face. Trembling at the smallest of touches just like the first time, loving him as fearlessly as the first time.
