Thank you ko-fi anon! I really really enjoyed this 20 sentence piece, and I really want to do more of him! (that’s not a plug for more money – I might just continue this one on my own at some point!).
Anyway, meet my new fae boy, and an adorkable minotaur girl too, and have a sfw ‘meeting at a wedding’ short. I really hope you like it! (I stuck in a ‘read more’ just to save thumbs on scrolling – it’s all sfw, I promise).
As far as you were concerned, the ‘singles table’ at a wedding was one of the
cruelest things anyone could ever subject a wedding guest to, and being seated
there required the deepest of revenges upon the happy couple. Unfortunately one
half of said happy couple was your oldest friend, and you really weren’t that
vindictive, even though you were sat next to some vile individual, and it was
immediately obvious as to why there was no one special in their life.
As they began their dance, some soft, emotional twinkly music
beginning, you downed the last of your drink and ground your jaw, trying to
force yourself to enjoy the moment – it was their wedding day for heaven’s
sake.
At least the minotaur on your other side was a good laugh, especially
when the little garland of flowers around her horns dropped off into her veggie
meal, and you and she exchanged a quick look before she burst out laughing and
proceeded to munch her way though her new daisy chain garnish as well. It was
as you were giggling with her, a stupidly broad grin on your face, that you
looked up and saw a figure watching you from the edge of the dance floor.
He was tall, slim, and elegant, with his long red hair tied simply
back off his stunning face into a plain ponytail that spilled down his back
like a river of fire. He wore a perfectly-tailored, ice-blue, silk jacket,
embroidered with ivory flowers, which fell to his narrow hips, and contrasted
strongly with his fiery red hair. His
eyes were a vibrant green, and he was staring at you as though he couldn’t believe you really existed,
which, quite frankly, made you squirm and look behind you to check for that
vastly more attractive person who would undoubtedly be the object of his
interest: no one stood there.

I used the aister card generator, but I cant link it because #tumblr….
AT LAST my entry to this collab/collection of dating app shenanigans. The original er… “Founder” of this is @thetravelerwrites !
I wanted to try writing something different. It was a fun exercise but I’m not sure I’ll return to the concept. Also sorry if the smut isn’t what you hoped for. Again, it was just a little experiment/exercise

The notification took you by surprise.
In all honesty, you’d completely forgotten you signed on to OkCryptid until your phone buzzed to notify you someone had messaged you. You fished the device from your pocket and checked the notification.
‘1 new message from Harley’
You opened the app, a little wary. You’d been on dating sites before with mediocre results so you were going in on this with a healthy dose of skepticism. Places like this tended to thrive with fuckboys and weird couples looking for a third.
Harley turned out to be a fae when you looked at their profile. A plant based fae creature at that.
They had a sharp face with high cheekbones and solid black eyes. Their hair was a mess of vines and flowers that cascaded down their back. Their skin was green and had for as far as you could tell the veiny texture of a leaf. They seemed pretty interesting so you opened the message.
“Hi! My name is Harley. I’m new to this. I saw our profiles were compatible so I thought I’d shoot you a message. I hope things are well!”
Seemed innocent enough. You messaged them back.
“Hi to you too! Things are well. I honestly was a little surprised to get a message because I forgot I had this lol. How are you?”
You sent the message and just as you made a move to put it away, Harley messaged back.
“Oh gosh you responded! Things are very well! I’m happy to hear back from you!!”
Aww how cute. You smiled a little, responding.
“Good to hear. What are you up to?”
Again, an almost instant reply.
“Not much! I have to admit I’m a bit unfamiliar with sites like these… I hope I don’t weird you out!”
“You’re good. You’re one of the nicest people I’ve met on here so far :p”
“Oh! That’s good! I mean, it’s not good you had such unfortunate encounters. I’m happy I’m not weird so far!”
“Eh its to be expected.”
“I unfortunately (luckily?) wouldn’t know. So, what do you like to do for fun?”
You two ended up talking all night. You found out Harley worked in a gardening center (a plant nursery as they jokingly called it), loved to paint, and unironically loved Rick Astley. They were painfully sweet and you felt almost glad that you were the first one they message lest some creep took advantage of them.
The talking continued the next day. And the day after. And after until a few weeks had passed.
The pair of you had exchanged numbers and had even called a few times. Harley’s voice made your heart skip a beat when you heard it. It was soft and very androgynous, like everything else about them. The call had lasted for longer than you cared to admit and left you feeling like you were walking on clouds.
So after two weeks of going back and forth, you bit the bullet and asked them out on a date.
“A date?!”
You flinched slightly at the text, praying you hadn’t misread any cue’s. Your fear was swept away with the next text.
“I’d love to!! Oh my gosh I’m so excited!!!!”
You couldn’t help but smile as you texted back.
“Great! How does dinner and a movie sound?”
“Sounds good! I do have one demand about that though. If its not to much trouble, I need to sit near a window.”
You furrowed your eyebrows but shrugged.
“Okay. I’ll see what I can do.”
“Thank you!”
The two of you hashed out any further details and decided this Saturday would be perfect. The pair of you would grab lunch and then go to a matinee of the newest super hero movie.
And lo and behold, Saturday rolled around before you knew it and with a healthy dose of nerves you drove to the little hole in the wall diner you had visited on the regular when you still went to college.
It was a pleasant little restaurant ran by a gentleman and his Werewolf wife. Their two oldest daughters worked there too last you remembered.
You parked your car a little away and walked down to the restaurant, your heart skipping a beat when you saw Harley.
They were dressed in a floral button up and a black pair of slacks. Their vine like hair was pulled back in a bun on the back of your head, reminding you of dreadlocks almost.
They were nervously fiddling with their phone and then looked up. They beamed into an almost unnaturally wide smile as they waved at you, walking towards you.
“Hello!” They called out and as soon as you stood face to face, they hugged you. “It’s so good to finally see you in the flesh!”
You chuckled and returned the hug.
“Likewise.” You said, feeling your nerves slowly fade. “I hope I didn’t keep you waiting to long?”
Harley shook their head, looking almost worried.
“No! Not at all. I’ve only been here for ten minutes.”
“Oh good.” You said, smiling a little. “Shall we go inside then?”
Harley nodded again and gently reached for your hand as you walked the short distance to the restaurant. Under any other circumstance, you would’ve carefully let go but you oddly liked the hand holding. Even if it was a little forward, especially for Harley.
The little bell above the door rang as you pushed it open, Harley following you inside.
“Hello and welc- oh hey you! Long time no see!”
The oldest of the two sisters, Ashley, walked over to you, smiling. You felt Harley giving your hand a slight squeeze.
“Hi Ashley. It has been a while hasn’t it?”
The lycanthrope nodded, her eyes falling on Harley briefly.
“So, what can I do for ya?”
“A table for two. Near a window if possible?”
You felt Harley squeeze your hand again briefly.
“Of course. Follow me!”
Ashley lead the two of you to the table to the window and after ordering your drinks and your food, she disappeared into the kitchen. You thought it was weird that Harley hadn’t ordered any food and when they turned their face to the window, it clicked.
Photosynthesis.
Dinner went smoothly, you and Harley chatting up a storm, talking about everything under the sun. The more you talked, the more you grew attracted to the fae creature in front of you, even if being the only one eating made you feel odd.
You two had to rush to the theater, having completely lost track of time with your conversation. The movie went well too. The movie itself was a little underwhelming but the jokes you and Harley made entertained you far more.
Unfortunately, all good things eventually come to an end and you felt a little sad as you left the theater and you both got in your car. You drove to Harley’s house, the two of you sitting in a comfortable silence.
It all had a sense of finality as you stopped in front of Harley’s house. Harley’s hand found yours and your fingers slipped between each other.
“I had a lovely time.” Harley said, giving you a soft half smile. This time you squeezed their hand.
“Me too.” You said. Your eyes flicked to Harley’s mouth and as if on cue, they leaned in and softly kissed you.
The kiss couldn’t have lasted longer than a second or two but it felt like so much longer. Butterflies flared up in your tummy and electricity shot down your spine. Harley pulled away with a slightly startled expression.
“Do uhm… Do you wanna come in for coffee? That what they say in movies, right?”
You let out a little breathless chuckle and nodded.
“Id love to.” You said.
If you thought hand holding had been forwarded, you were sorely mistaken. Almost as soon as the front door closed behind you, you had Harley pressed up against the hallway wall, sending a picture frame plummeting to the floor.
Your mouths were frantically pressed against each other, Harley’s arms wrapping around your neck. Your hands settled on their hips as you pressed your pelvis against theirs
“Can we- upstairs?” Harley mumbled between kisses and you reluctantly broke apart, Harley leading the way to their bedroom. With a gentle shove, Harley fell on the bed, your hands undoing the buttons on their shirt, pressing soft kisses on every bit of newly exposed skin.
The fae beneath you let your a sigh, hands tangling in your hair as you reached their belt. There was a moment of hesitation.
“Uhm… I- before we-” Harley stuttered out, sitting up. “What I have… Its not like… Like humans.” They said, looking very nervous.
You gave them a reassuring smile.
“Just show me what feels good.” You responded and Harley whimpered something as they dropped back down onto the bed.
You carefully undid the belt and took of the fae’s shoes and bottoms, leaving them in their underwear.
You noticed a bulge, albeit a little oddly shaped. It looked almost like a… Flower?
You carefully peeled down the underwear and were greeted with an interesting sight. Harley seemed to have both a vagina and a penis, for as far as you could call them that.
Their dick looked like something caught between a pinecone and some sort of fruit and it seemed to be oozing something. Beneath that sat an entrance flanked by petal like labia. You were mesmerised and just as Harley seemed to get nervous, you reached out and gently touched their dick.
“Ah, careful! It’s… It’s very sensitive.” They gasped, hands fisting the sheets and legs closing a little on instinct.
“Sorry.” You mumbled. “What do I-?”
Harley cleared their throat briefly.
“Just kinda… Stroke. Like a human.” They said, obviously a little embarrassed. You did what you were told and gently started jacking him off. The fae started moaning softly and you bit your lip, feeling yourself growing more aroused. You eyed their genitalia again and gently circled their entrance, earning a whimper from Harley.
“Please.” Was the one word they got out. “Pleeeaaase.”
You’d be cruel to deny them, you thought, so you gently slid a finger in. Harleys back arched off the bed slightly as they gasped. You curled your finger, curious to see what would happen and-
A sudden gush of liquid oozed from their dick and they let out a strangled moan, their thighs shaking.
“I’m sorry- It just felt- I didn’t mean to-”
You hushed them, crawling up to meet their lips in a reassuring kiss.
“It’s okay.” You said, smiling as they eagerly kissed you again.
“Can I make it up to you?” They asked hopefully. You chuckled, cupping their cheek and running a thumb over their cheekbone.
This is the fifth time this week that someone has had flowers delivered to you at work. They’re lovely, really, but you have practically no friends, no lovers, and everyone you work with either hates you or doesn’t give a flying fuck about you.
To your frustration, the person at the front desk never seems to remember anything about them other then “Super hot”, and the only things that are ever in the cards that come with them, are obscure quotes. Disturbingly enough, they all seem to be pretty in line with the sorts of things you’re into.
You could hear your name, whispered on the breeze as you walked home. The cool night air gently nipped at your cheeks as you kept your pace, your breath visible in little puffs, even in the dwindling light.
You tried not to react to the whisper, having heard it most of the day today, but found nothing that could have been making it. It was just your mind, you were certain, playing on your hopes and dreams. Besides, you had bigger things to worry about.
Grimacing, you hunched your shoulders a little more, eyes trained on the ground before you. You were not looking forward to getting “home”, if it could even be called that, your stomach twisting itself in knots at the thought. How you wished you could be anywhere else.
Very suddenly, there was a harsh blast of wind, making you stumble and look up in fright. At the edge of the forest, on the other side of the road, you saw someone standing there, someone you had seen in your dreams many times. They were the only part of your day that you looked forward to anymore, but they had stopped visiting your dreams a few days ago, leaving a rift that you didn’t know how to fill.
Absently you wondered if you really had gone mad, as you knew that they were not human, nor were they anything other than a dream. If it weren’t for the cold and the ache in your bones, you would have sworn that you had simply fallen asleep, dreaming wistfully of what could be.
As they reached out for you, urging you to come to them, you hesitated, knowing that you shouldn’t be feeding this delusion. With an aching heart, you hesitantly moved to keep walking past, you were going to be late.
Your name was called once more, this time more desperately, and another abrupt gust of wind made you stumble from your course. Looking up at them again, you felt your heart ache painfully, and tears sting your eyes. Would it really hurt to give in? You had obviously gone insane already, what more could it do?
Without realising it, you found yourself slowly bridging the gap between you, barely noticing the way the forest shifted and changed behind them, the closer you got. With a soft relieved smile, they pulled you into their arms, holding you close. They felt firm, alive, real.
“It’s ok now… I have you. I’m never letting go.”
They murmured softly, stepping back and pulling you with them, warmth starting to chase away the cold. The street faded away from view, leaving nothing but the wind to take notice of your departure.
It had been instinct, saving that old woman. If you had been a second slower, shown even the slightest hesitation, then she would have been killed by the oncoming truck. As it was, you ended up dropping your shopping all over the road and fracturing your ankle, but a few bumps and bruises were worth it if it meant saving someones life.
She had thanked you profusely, but eventually you had managed to escape her almost frantic gratitude, and slip away with the paramedics. You had thought that would be the end of it.
Two days and a plane trip later, you were in another country, glad to be finally having the trip you had been looking forward to, even if you weren’t as mobile as you would have liked. Limping around was going to be a bother.
While you were carefully making your way down a side street, looking forward to resting in your motel room, you found yourself suddenly freezing in place. To your shock, the little old lady stepped into your line of sight, smiling happily at you.
“I wanted to thank you properly dear” The woman spoke, stepping closer to you.
You tried to speak in return, but your voice had been silenced and no matter what you did, you couldn’t move an inch. The woman smiled brightly, perking up.
“Now, what is it you desire hm? Wealth? hm no that’s not it, time? Close but no…” She murmured to herself. She didn’t seem to need you to speak, seemingly grasping the answers from elsewhere, and ignoring your rising panic.
“Love? Oh! A soulmate!” She perked up, practically bouncing in place.
“Yes! Yes! Perfect! A life for a life! How fitting! Very well, a soulmate it shall be!” She tittered happily, appearance changing with every passing moment, no longer that of an old woman, but something…other.
The air seemed to thicken for a moment as she rolled her hands around each other, a strange thrumming power gathering and swirling around them, before abruptly slamming them into your chest. The world ripped itself apart from under you, sending you spinning and rushing through grasping darkness for what felt simultaneously like seconds and hours, before suddenly landing with a hard thump, uninjured, but sore.
As you groaned in pain and slowly opened your eyes, you found yourself staring up at someone you knew could not exist. They were a beloved favourite character of yours after all. Both of you shivered as something seemed to snap in place between you.
At least they looked just as bewildered as you felt.
You had always hidden your ability so well, even as a child, something inside you had known not to let anyone find out. You had seen how people reacted to things that were different, your parents included. How would they react to something as different as you? The older you got, and the more you understood about the world, the more relieved you were that you had never shown or told anyone.
Now, all of it was for naught.
You had thought you were safe. No one came here, no one even knew it existed. You had found it as a young child, deep within the forest behind your parents home. It was hidden completely by rocks and trees, but if you knew where to look, you would find the thin little passage that led into the beautiful pocket of nature. A tiny magical paradise, just for you.
It had been your sanctuary for years, somewhere you could come and flex your abilities, while pretending that the rest of the world wasn’t so cruel. But the person standing before you, had ruined all of that in one foul blow.
You paid no heed to their star struck gaze, nor their unusual eyes and clothing. Not even their pointed ears gave you pause. All you could feel was mounting panic. They had SEEN you, had seen the way nature bent to your will, the way the plants grew and bloomed beneath your bare feet.
Your gaze darted to the side, towards the only entrance, and they stiffened, realising your intentions. Reaching forward as if to grasp you, despite the distance between you, they took a step towards the entrance, hoping to place themselves between it and you.
“Please wai-”
They started to gently plead, but you refused to listen. Terrified, you bolted for the entrance, abandoning your shoes and bag, desperately hoping you could reach the exit before they could. You couldn’t afford to be caught, to be found out.
